Correction:
19:05 - The last chord grid on that line should be named D69/A not Db6 - the fingering is correct however.
10:57 & 21:17 - Eb9 fingering is the same as all other dominant 9th chords. The blue dots are in the correct place but the numbers should be (from lowest string to the highest) 2,1,3,4.
I first heard this song as a teenager - I was leaving a local swimming pool - as I was driving away it came on the radio - I was so overwhelmed I had to pull over to the side of the road it was and still is complete Magic! This is the best presentation of the song that I have seen - many thanks!
I’ve enjoyed playing guitar for 62 years now. Thank you so much for this video. It’s very, very satisfying! Bravo.
(same, 66 y.o.)
Superb, guitarist, excellent tutorial easy to follow, many thanks
Best tutorial i've seen so far.
Ariel your teaching method is very thorough and simple to follow. I can tell you, not everyone in the network have an easy way to understand as you do. Thanks for your patience and simplicity to explain chords and melody. Cheers!
Your tutorial is so clean and clear Sir. This is what I need. I can follow it bar by bar. Thank you very much indeed.
What a great lesson! You are so patient and provide such detail. Love the chord and board diagrams as well. Thank you , Sir!
And one more thing, dear friends! Little addition! Your video has just a beautiful picture. Excellent lighting and composition! And also a magnificent color scheme and a soft blur of the background, like shading or watercolor. Perhaps good glass. Very artistic. Well done! The operator is a superman!
This has to be the best tutorial for this song that's on YT. Thank you
Thank you very much, it took me 3 weeks every day 5 minutes to play it at your own pace in the Gilberto version! It was clear and useful. I can sing it in French, I will learn it in Portuguese do Brasil!
This was a fantastic lesson. Thanks for being so generous with your time.

Tipo "Stella by Starlight " "Misty " " I've got Crush on you" e outros?

Thank you very much for your efforts in making this video.
I will continue watching the rest of your videos for the near future until I've mastered bossa nova
Thank you...I'm gonna give it a try :-)
great.
very good!!
Ottima lezione 👍👏
Sua proposta aqui é muito boa!
🇧🇷
You're amazing
Love it sent you a gift 💴
Hello Sir. I'm 58 now and this lesson gave me the kick to start learning Jazz guitar again, after 40 years. It would be great if you could do the same with "Waves". It's such a beautiful song. Greetings from Germany, Thomas
All jazz akkoorden. Greate😊
Thank you very much, brother! What you are doing is simply fantastic! At least for me it's fantastic! I'm 50 y. o. and I started learning to play classical guitar! I have always liked this magical melody! Now I can play it and learn these wonderful chords and melody! How good it is! Merry Christmas to you, brother! May you, your family and loved ones always have joy and happiness! God bless you, dear friend! Happy New Year! In my city it’s minus 18 at the moment, but I will be happy to learn to play this beautiful melody The Girl From Ipanema! Thank you so much!❤🎄🎉🎉🎉
Thank you @vladimirshporhoon! Happy new year to you!🎸🎸
Great! Just found you and sticking around!
You are a phenomenal teacher!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Greate nice gitaarplaying and good video
I think a teacher should always play the tune through at least once at the beginning or at the end. It gives the learner a complete picture.
This is a great tutorial! I really love Bossa Nova and now I'll finally be able to play it myself. Thank you! :)
If I may ask, what Bossa Nova Beat playback are you using?
Hi Julia, thank you for your kind message. We record our own backing tracks so all instruments are actually played except for the drums which are Simon Phillips Jazz Drums samples, slightly more embellished than the standard bossa beat :-)
Bravoooooo!!!
I wrote Gilberto’s version for myself like this
pA1 Fm11/Ab----Bbm6----GbM7/Bb----Am6----Fm11/Ab----Gbm11/A
pA2 Fm11/Ab----Bbm6----Ab13sus4----Ab13----Fm11/Ab
pB1 A6---G7---Dm7---Bb7---Ebm7---B7---Fm7---Bb7---Ebm7-Ab7
A1----iii-vi-IV-bvi(ii)-ii-IV
A2----ii-vi-V-V-iii
B1----bvi(ii)-bV(i)-bii(V)-vi-ii-bvii(iii)-iii-Vi-ii-V
Incredible video! Thanks for making it!
Astounding production quality considering it's not a very view-rich channel, hope you find nothing but success!
Awesome job man! Super helpful. 🙂
Great lesson
I really had fun learning this song. Thank you!
Right hand pattern was major thanks and then putting together with cords crucial.
Ariel, really enjoyed this presentation/lesson.. I've been a big fan of Jobim and Bossa Nova since the late 60s.. I like your twist on the chords presented here.. !
I read your correction notice about the last chord grid and the name change.. My question and reason for this comment is about the D7(b9) and the C7(b9) shown in time stamp 10:55 to 11:12... The grid is showing the same finger number (1) for the notes yet in the video you are using fingers 1 and 2 for both of these chord notes.. Am I missing something?
Any way loved watching the video
Hey Buzz, thank you for your kind comment! Yes, the fingering on the grid is suggesting a small bar across strings 4 to 2, which I think is easier for beginners, incidentally I didn't use it on this video, but both fingerings are good. Thank you for flagging this up, I'll add to the erratum post! All the best, Ariel
😄Great instruction, easy to understand for a dummy like me. Sub, and Like
I learned more chords
Great video! However, the rhythmic pattern here is very simple unlike the original version in the recording. Does anybody know a good video that teaches you how to play the more complex bossa nova rhythm on the guitar?
Hi Petr, have a look at this one here, towards the end I go over the more complex patterns. Cheers, Ariel

🔝🔝🔝🔝
Reminds me of Mario World
looks like what jobim is doing is putting the 5th in the bass to avoid stepping on the bass player
🤘🙂🤘🙂🤘🙂🤘🙂⛵🛥️☀️🏖️🎸🎸

Você mostra e explica tudo, vale a pena.
Sucesso hein!
God Bless you!
Bossa nova is 2/4 not 4/4
Demasiado blablabla
Am I the only one that can hear your bass E string out of tune??? You are flat
Bravissimo well. Done
