This is the most incredible little plant! I bought a house 2 years ago in metropolitan phx that has a bed across the back of the house facing west. It’s so hot in the summer. The bed has 3 feet of this plant. I have no idea how many separate there are. It looks like it is trailing. Some roots are above ground and the foliage seem to die off in the hottest part of summer and comes back in the spring. Most living floral arrangements have them and I recently started transplanting them. They’re hardy yet fragile at the same time. Love this little gem.
I have never been able to keep any non-editable plant from dying…indoors or outdoors. Although I have no problem growing a plant that is edible. A very dear family member passed away a few weeks ago and a friend gave me a beautiful Kalanchoe. I have been trying so hard to keep it alive and healthy. I did over water it and it made several leaves yellow and killed almost all the flowers. I want this plant to live forever because it means so much to me since it was a gift from a friend after a loved one of mine passed away. I hope everything you have shared in this video will help me keep this beautiful plant alive and as beautiful as yours look. Thank you! 🙏🏻🌸💖
Hey! Have you thought about getting a water moisture meter? They're quite inexpensive and work wonders. You stick the metal part deep inside the pot (not too close to the plant or you might break some roots) and it'll give you a number depending on how wet the soil is. I water my Kalanchoe when they're at 2-3 on the moisture meter and they're very happy. Remember that it's an African plant, it would rather be underwatered than overwatered :)
I greatly love this video! Your a very kind person who helped me with my plant because this is my first time having a plant and I’m scared it was going to over-drink or become rotten. You also reply to every comment, which I find very helpful and hard-working!
@Xiuchu, Glad you liked it and thank you So much for being so Generous, I truly appreciate it. Thank you once again for understanding...I try my best to reply each queries even if takes time...
This was really really a good video about kalanchoe. I watched too many other videos but couldnt find much helpful than this one. This one is a complete guide🙌🏼
@Harpal Vala, Good luck and I am sure they are going to bloom well :-) Kalanchoe are easy to care for. We only need to be very careful while watering..rest are easy :-)
Thanks a lot friend please make video on ranunculus. I know it takes a lot of hard work to make this video and you tell it so well in detail, thank you very much for that.
@ranunculus, sure I would do that (it's in progress)...but would take some time as last year I couldn't grow them because of space issue :-( Thank you very much for the support, it really push me to work more. Thanks again :-)
Thanks a lot for the tips.i was wondering why my plants are not blooming.you ate a great help for gatdening ji,,i always look up to you for any gardening ideas.thank yoh
Thank you very much for this video; I found it very informative and easy to understand. I have just purchased my first kalanchoe and am hoping to propagate more from it. Keep well and safe during this time.
I read that if I mix worm castings & organic compost in the succulent soil that I don’t ever have to fertilize…. What is your opinion on this please? Thank you
Hello! Your videos are very helpful. One question: what do I do with old flowers? Mine are wilting and drying out. Maybe I burned them, or maybe I gave them too much water. In any case, do I pinch off the old flowers? Or do they just fall off? I apologize if you answered this question already, but I couldn’t find the answer. Thank you again for your time and lovely videos.❤️
You're supposed to keep them in place, where in winter season, it gets more darkness, less light, by hours. If you live in a region which got no winter, then you have to make the whole "darkness for more hours" process by yourself - artificially.
Hello there. Thanks for your video❤ I have a copper one if you know what I mean. It has a very small pot, should I repot it? Do you have any videos that explains when is the best time for repotting?
Q: I bought a small Kalenchoe plant, about 2" and she had healthy stem and several leaves. Not yet waxy. Then I noticed the pot didn't have drainage holes so I repotted in a 4" pot. She is a bit blackened and only has the stem. I watered her on Monday oct.4th, for the first time since planting her and the soil is still wet. Also, I think a bit of white fungus(?) could be the result of her wet soil. I gave her very little water, and now understand the watering instructions. My question is, should I add more soil, more light? I'd like to ensure a healthy plant and appreciate your input. Thanks and have a nice day!
thank you for sharing! i bought my kalanchoe from an ikea in july and i was a little nervous about it since i’m new to plant care, but i feel much more confidence about it now especially with this and the propagating video!
I subscribed. Very informative video! I looked at description to see if there was a link for your slug problem cutting video but could not find! I will have to search Thank you 🙏
Beautiful color! Mine are yellow but I've had it for about 5 weeks and the flowers are starting to droop and it looks a little sad. The leaves are strong and thick though and I just up potted it a week ago. What should I do to encourage the rest of the little ones that are coming in to bloom? I don't want to kill it!
Hi! Great video:) Do you know how much sun my kalanchoe needs per day. Mine tend to be a little leggy....especially the flowers. I'd like them to be fuller like yours!!
@kerri dube, Thank you very much for the feedback, much appreciated! Please note that, there are different varieties and some varieties grow bit leggy. However, you can keep your plant under full sun (whole day) and once you see they have already produced the buds and about to bloom, move them to bright area. This is the same thing I do and by doing this, we can prevent them from being leggy and enjoy the blooms for many more days :-) The blooms can't tolerate too much direct sunlight and at the time, it's better to keep them only in bright area. I hope you got it and please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you :-)
Hi! Your kalanchoe are so beautiful! I received one as a gift a couple years ago. Its etiolated... i cut it to make a New plant! Its growing well, but stay tall! impossible to have big leaves and such a dense plant! Is there any way i could make my kalanchoe grow bigger leaves?
Its a personal choice. Desi is easy to care for, and are more tolerant and slightly hardier than the hybrid ones. They can also be for more easily propogated. But I personally prefer the hybrid ones because of their flowers.
I liked the colour. I bought one last year. It looked beautiful and after the blooming I had repotted. But after that it began to grow taller and began to bend to sides. No blooms this year. What to do? I bought two new ones and not going to repot them anyway
@Soni Soni, No bloom this year, sorry to know that. May I know the amount of Sunlight they were getting (this year)? It's not repotting issue, it is either sunlight or fertilizer issue. Also, Kalanchoe is a succulent and so there is actually no need to use bigger pot.
Pot is fine...n Sunlight is also okay. But before they produce buds it won't do any harm if we provide more sunlight, it's actually better. Perhaps, u can preserve them for next year n fertilize them well. Good luck 👍
If I brought this plants with buds today from nursery, how I repoting this plant,it how grow, please give your help, it's advisable to grow in ceramic pot?

Hello, how r u? I am wondering about kalanchoe daigremontiana. I am growing it indoors w LEDs. Any.tips? How long ahould I leave the lights on for? Fertilizing? Watering? Ty.
@Mirla Lacen, Really sorry for the late reply :-( I haven't grown Kalanchoe indoors with LEDs but can provide you some inputs - Kalanchoe needs longer nighttime than daytime to produce the blooms. So, plz use the light for less amount of time comparing to night. Since you are growing indoors, cut down on fertilizing to half the dose. Watering - only when the soil dry out completely (I may take 10-15 days as you are growing indoors) Hope that helps and plz let me know if you have any question. Thank you very much for watching the video, have a great time :-)
I bought 2 small kalanchoe plants without flowers in march .... but they seem to be not growing since there are no new leaves emerging....Ii looks healthy.... given little fertilizer also.... please advice....

How come you don’t wanna water the leafs? I been using a spray bottle and been watering every 3-4 days when my soil gets dry and I always some reason spray the plant all over as if it was to rain on them lol what does it do to the plant cause the bottom of my green leafs are getting red but the top is still so healthy green and I’ve been doing this method for about a year
Really like your videos. Will kalanchoe grow if there is no sunlight (bright balcony in the western direction in Mumbai but no sun at all throughout the day
@Jenny Dougherty, Succulents that bloom, need some direct sun and more light than indoor. Succulents that don't bloom or those which are naturally green are best to grow as indoor plant. However, if you are very interested in growing Kalanchoe indoor, then I would recommend you to place the plant near a window that gets light all day. Hope it would bloom :-) And, could you plz not call me Sir, I would really appreciate it. Myself Chandan and plz call me Gardening Upbeat, Chandan or anything else that works for you (other than Sir). Thank you very much for watching the video and plz let me know if you have any questions.
I re-potted my kalanchoe plants using a succulent potting mix that I bought online. Now-a-days it's raining here so I keep my plants indoors. Some worm infested it making the leaves hollow and all the leaves are shedding. What can I do? I already sprayed a mix of neem oil and soap.
Hi Chandan, Glad to see this video, i have few kalanchoe plants and soil is heavy, shall I add cocopeat to make it light and drainy? Unfortunately I don't get sand here , please suggest
@Rajee Tipsy, Thank you so much for the feedback, appreciate it. Yah, definitely you can use Cocopeat instead of Sand. And, you can also use Perlite if you have. A good potting soil mix would be - 30% Normal Soil, 25% Compost, 25% Cocopeat and 20% Perlite. We can use same potting soil mix for any succulent. Thank you once again for watching the video :-)
Hi I keep this plant indoors... and waiting for it to rebloom... can u suggest a good place in the home where we can create perfect conditions for the plant to rebloom? Thanks

I've three red kalanchoes, all blooming beautifully. 😊 Can you please tell me if we can use seedweed solution on any kind of plants like flowers, Succulents and vegetables?
@Jeffrin Zaman, That's great to know and great job :-) Definitely we can use seaweed solution on any kind of plants like flowers, Succulents and vegetables. It's actually better as it's organic :-)
I bought 2 pots of grown with bloomed flowers of kalanchoe plants , after several days the flowers dried up, and the plants became tall, is there any hope that it Will bloom flowers again? Give advice, Thank you!
