Good Morning Buddy and Stephanie ❤. I feel so bad for you all with this crazy heat. I keep praying for rain for you all. 🙏 I'm so sorry about your garden.

Would make great frozen slush with or without alcohol to make an icy cold refreshing drink out of. I think I would add fresh squeezed lemon, lime or mint to it, puree in a blender, pour into a container to freeze and pull it out as you need it. I could even see it used to make a sherbet or sorbet with!

Hi Stephanie and Buddy. Not surprised the garden is a little fried considering the heat index you’ve had of late. Those water melons looked so good. Always wondered how you knew when the water melons were ready yours looked so good. Ripe and ready to go. Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with. Have a great day take care and God Bless. 🙏💕🍉

My parents always pick their watermelon after the 3rd curly cue after the watermelon dies off. They are always sooo good and ripe. They also grow Charleston Grey watermelon which seem to be the only ones that grow well in their garden.

Do you guys ever do Sunday Dinner? Stephanie you and Buddy are such amazing cooks! Watermelon Feta Salad 1/4 cup virgin olive oil, 2 tbsp of red wine vinegar, 1/2 tsp kosher salt, 3 cups of cubed (no seeds) watermelon, 1 cup of cucumber chopped, 1 cup of crumbled feta. 1/2 cup of red onion thinly sliced, 1/2 cup coarsely chopped mint. Whisk together oil, vinegar and salt in bowl. In a large serving bowl combine watermelon, cucumber, feta, onion and mint. Add dressing and toss to coat. Garnish with more mint and flaky sea salt.

I feel ya on the heat. I'm in the Phoenix AZ area and is now 8:45pm and it's still 109 degrees..no rain for months and the lows are in the 90s. I have to water my garden twice a day. Right now it's mostly flowers I'm trying to keep alive. It wouldn't be so bad if the heat didn't last for months and months. The winters are great though so I guess that's why I'm still here.😊 Thank you for sharing your lives with us. I really enjoy your videos.

Candied rinds are good! Also try orange, lemon, and lime peels that are candied. They’re kind of a harder, firmer jelly. I can’t think of anything to compare them to…

I love watermelon but on keto I can’t have that much. What I would do if I had many melon would be blend the red flesh and drink cold. Or if you had a family gathering I would make a large serving container of blended watermelon and add club soda to make it sparkling and lighter. A very refreshing party punch.
Here in west central Wisconsin , we’ve had very little rain. I have to go outside and hand water my veggie and flower garden and my seeded lawn every day sometimes twice a day. We have heat indexes near 100 quite often but those fires in Canada make it very unhealthy to spend any time outside.

I would highly recommend some tall t-post and shade cloth. For that big of a garden you're going to need quite a few, but it will help out tremendously in the extreme heat. I had to put a shade cloth over my garden a few times this summer.

I accidentally pruned one of my plants from the wrong side and then once I noticed I decided to cut open the watermelon. It was juicy but all lime green colour. I didn't trust tasting it as I thought it was too raw to eat. It's my first time with these sugar baby watermelons. They are all very dark green except one which is light green. They've been kept humid by their own leaves and watered every second day mainly at the trunk of the plant. They are in direct sunlight but they do have some shade offered by zucchini plants just South from them. The zucchinis which grew towards the watermelons grew very large, almost 800 grams and they hid very close to the watermelons. Last year I planted pumpkins in the same area and were ripe very early in July. I have quite a good amount of watermelons, so I think I'll just check them out more often in September and start trying them one at a time until I notice they'll be perfect to harvest and eat. When do they turn red inside? Can they ripen and stay green or yellow inside?

Good afternoon Stephanie and Buddy. We up here in Saskatchewan with our Roughriders football team will have to google as we make watermelon heads with cut out watermelons. Another thing they do is make watermelon vodka shots. Watermelon cut up, vodka, gingerale, Freeze in fridge not fully solid pour into jello cups then freeze fully. You can get a better recipe from google too as I only taste them not make them. lol. HAGD.

Watermelon recipe quick and easy. Italian or French baguette bread (or any bread that will toast up well and make a two bite appetizer). Toast bread, spread with creamy goat cheese, thin slice watermelon to fit on toast, drizzle a little honey on top and to add color and flavor thin slice basil into stripes and sprinkle a little on top. Serve and enjoy. Quick appetizer and refreshing. You can use cream cheese to substitute for creamy goat cheese either is tasty.

First time growing sugar baby watermelons this year. The plants have thrived and I’ve harvested two so far. They have the faintest scent of, 🤢, I think onion, and they don’t taste good either as you might expect. I’m a novice gardener. This is the first time planting in this area of my yard, which I used to use for burning brush etc. Any advice? Is the soil just nasty over here maybe? Thanks for considering.
