FISHING for BROWN Trout on a RAINY DAY [New Zealand]

- On the last day of this South Island trip my buddy Hans and I jumped in the truck and headed out on a rainy forecast for a catch up and one last fish before I head back to the North Island.
The morning was a bit of a struggle but we persevered and in the afternoon, things started to come together for us!

Exceptionally clear water, great fish. Watched your take off the rocks and Hans sitting on the bank lifting into the fish a couple of times. Skilful fishing.

Cheers Alex! A great way to finish the SI Series with a day on one of the most technically challenging streams in the area, especially a fair way into the season. I know that section very well and there are no bargains. Am I right in saying that you naked nymphed everything? Also I have noticed this whole series you often appear to be looking to induce a take with a lift .....Leisenring style? Might be worth talking the punters through that in more detail. Brace yourself for a tougher trip next season post covid with higher tourism and guiding pressure back country. I am looking forward to the challenge after 2 years of purple patch fishing!
