One of the gretest performances I ever watched
Fabulous 👌 ❤
Years ago we used to run into Bobby on Waller Street in San Francisco all the time. He was a young, up and coming player then and we had a lot of respect for what he was doing. Nice guy, always friendly, respectful of my late ex-husband, a jazz bass player. Sad to hear he has left us so soon.
A beautiful version by one of the great vibraphonists of all time. A big tip of the hat to Max Roach too.
A wonderful performance of one of Bobby's classic tunes, from a Jazz Baltica festival concert in Kiel, Germany. Great playing all the way around: sadly, both bass player Dwayne Burno and drummer Eddie Marshall are both gone. Eddie and Bobby played together many times in the San Francisco Bay Area. Pianist Joe Gilman is a music professor in Sacramento area, can definitely PLAY and was Bobby's resident pianist in later years. Great camerawork too. This is a fine and fitting tribute to the genius and musicianship of Bobby Hutcherson, and his personal warmth. Here's a quote about his dedication: "Every time you play, play like it's the last time, every time you are behind the instrument. It's that important! You just want to be part of the order of the universe."
Arthur George-thanks for your post, keep up the good work, we need it badly man!
Who dared to dislike this
Beautiful!
Some Mouldy Fig
@ 6:25 While the audience is zombified, I'm up dancing in my livingroom. 🕺 🎶 🥁 🎹
Bobby will always rank among the elite vibraphonists, but when he played the marimba like this, his playing took on the feel of something other worldly. I cannot think of anything coming as close as this to describe the word SUBLIME. The studio version of this with Geri Allen is a soul-stirring moment if there ever was one.
One word………………..YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
They need to post this entire jazz baltic 2007 set of Bobby and the boys, it's boss, eclectic,
creame dela creame, doesn't get any better than this.
❤
