I'm retired now but I was ATL based for most of my career. That approach was flown to runway 27L. You'll notice that the terrain slopes up from the interstate in the last half mile. It's common to have sinking air during the last bit of the approach as the air conforms to the surface. It's called an orographic effect. You need to add power to maintain airspeed while staying on glide path when flying through the sinking air.

Very cool! Love that insight. Excited to begin my aviation journey. I’m 3 years out from retirement and hope to go straight into commercial aviation

I'm glad you can video record and stay calm during approach lol. I'm always gripping my seats arm rests and praying we make it to the runway xD

I’ve landed on this same runway, exited on the same taxiway, on a Delta MD-88, in the same seat you were sitting in. I also have video of it on my channel.

I flew on a couple MD-88's, the rear seats are very noisy which makes it hard to hear announcements over the PA system

I used to LOVE to fly. I was Civil Air Patrol Cadet in the mid '70s during which I had many opportunities to fly. Then: 9/11 happened. Now we are treated like cattle. The only thing missing is the electrified cattle prod. Perhaps it's only a matter of time..
