Buddy, that's nothing compared to me dwelling on the nightmare face of "Another Princess Is In Our Castle"... there are some vinesauce streams I will regret watching...
Yea the pandemic is “over” but I still feel anxiety and hesitant to travel. Childhood nostalgia is a great tool to feel that safety again. Nothing better than walking in my hood in autumn seeing the decorations and leaves. I love all your videos please never stop!
I have a lot of respect for her. And I've learned a lot. She's a hustler and smart. True, her chicken coop, with full sized, natural gas heaters, is nicer than anywhere I've ever lived. But anybody living with Martha Stewart deserves the best.
Thank you for this. There really *is* something strangely comforting about the old MSL episodes, and I also got weirdly really into watching this during the pandemic. I think it's a combination of the close-mic sound mix, the slightly muted but still vivid colors, and Martha's subdued, endearing weirdness. If "caramel" gets you, wait 'til you hear her enthusiastic aspiration on words like "bucatini". A real aristocratic moment of 2000s eleganza. It's the opposite of stress relief, but the clip where she dismisses her mother's corrections to ...her mother's macaroni and cheese recipe is must-watch TV. Her mother, Martha Senior (!), says, "Too spicy!" to which Groppler Stewart says, "😏 To each their own..." At any rate, as someone who will admit to owning the MSL Halloween Magazine, and scanning assets from it for designs in work-related items so as to integrate the smallest amount of personal survival and humanity, I implore you to continue your Manic Episodes series with Martha. I'd love to hear your thoughts on her baking blueberry pies with an ankle tracker, or talking over a copper specialist, or cutting an enormous sandwich that is impractical for a picnic despite her insistence.
I think Martha Stewart fascinates us because she is the ultimate “soft power” broker. She was ruthless, but in a comforting way. Like one of those moms or teachers who never had to raise their voice to get you to behave. You didn’t need evidence that she meant business. You could feel it from a mile away. That’s why her underlings look so terrified. Martha never TOLD them that screwing up wouldn’t be a good thing. They knew from the set of her jawline or the way her brow furrowed that THIS HAD BETTER BE PERFECT.
I will fully admit as a child I unironically watched Martha. I loved her crafts and everything. When she went to jail I was older but was still bummed. I remember hearing how mean she was and all I could think was," not Martha! She is the fancy mom everyone loves." I even laughed at her parody on SNL. I loved this lady. I think you kind of hit on the head, she was comforting and that was nice to watch. I'm sure as an adult in my 30's I would feel differently watching her now, maybe be annoyed at her complicated crafts and food. Idk. Thanks for unlocking a childhood memory I had tucked away.
I listened to a podcast called "You're Wrong About" and they had a Martha Stewart episode and the host said something like "being into Martha Stewart be good at homemaking is like playing House". And now that I think about it, emulating Martha Stewart recipes/buying her merch when I was younger did feel like "if I was an adult I would make a nice house neat and pretty like Martha Stewart". and sometimes when I watch Martha Stewart's old PBS shows it does feel like playing House when I was a kid 😂
Same. Halloween is my favorite holiday. I don't care about scares. Personally way more into cute Halloween than scary or gross Halloween. Thanks for the Roku tip. 🎃👻
I like scary things.. But I also agree that I like Halloween things... Pumpkins, black cats, witches, bats, orange, black, fall colors, ghosts, popcorn balls, etc etc.. Things that aren't neccessarily super scary but are absolutely Halloween related... "Spooky" but not terrifying.. I love that stuff, I am glad that i'm not the only one.
You're not wrong about turning to childhood comforts during the pandemic. I got back into model kits myself. They're a good thing, as long as you have space for them. lol
Now that I’m an adult I think Martha Stewart is kinda awesome. She’s got her ways of doing things and giving instructions for how viewers can do them and that’s a good thing. On the subject of non-scary Halloween programs, Hallmark Channel should be making some movies along those lines. Maybe it could be on their Movies and Mysteries channel. It’s the one holiday they won’t touch and that’s a shame.
Wow. Didn’t know how much I needed this episode. I love going around the different neighborhoods this time of year, looking at people’s decorations: gory, scary, vintage, hokey… I love it all.🎃❤🎃
My mom watched Martha all the time and I always HATED when a guest was on with her because of the vibes in these interactions. I laughed when you mentioned it. It all makes sense now.
Interesting thing about Martha, several women she did jail time with all reported that she was super laid back, funny and not at all snobby. I always thought she has a delightfully dry sense of humor. Great vid, Evil Dead II is the beat horror-comedy ever made !! Happy Halloween Alison 🎃👻🍬🍭
My only exposure to Martha Stewart was in the 3rd grade. For some reason they decided to show us Martha Stewart's Living Thanksgiving Special in Nov. Now, this would be weird for any school, but my dad was an engineering officer in the USAF and would eventually be hired as a liaison by one of the local companies he worked with, we lived in Tokyo for most of my childhood and adolescent life. I went to a "mixed school" with children from military and expat families mixed with Japanese children, half of the students in this class were not going to be celebrating Thanksgiving. The school did have a major focus on cultural exchange but this was the only mention of Thanksgiving until high school, you would think there would be better ways to teach Japanese children about American holidays than showing them a single Martha Stewart episode, but here we are. I still think about and am confused by it to this day.
There's something about Martha Stewart thats always kind of struck me as "Mister Rogers for Adults." Pretty sure if Martha and Fred had a lovechild they'd be the most amazingly sickeningly wholesome thing on the planet, and I'd be there for it!
Re: Martha's weird boss energy: It was a running joke in our house growing up that Martha literally corrected a child on one of her holiday specials. She told him he could put a gumdrop on the roof of a gingerbread house "anywhere he wanted," only to immediately correct him as soon as he put in a place she didn't want and said, "NO-NOT THERE." 👻
The true jumpscare was the African Grey parrot almost biting straight into her hand. Those bites hurt, as someone whose friend's parrot is very protective of them when I go to visit.
Cheers to all the Halloween freaks ! 😃💜🎃 I recommend watching “Hillbillys in a Haunted House” (1967). Very relaxing spook movie with no real spooks. It’s sweet.
So, I never saw any of these before, but we did have a Martha Stewart Halloween crafts/food book back when I was a kid that I used to pore over. I remember there was a costume craft for “headless guy carrying his own head” in there that my mom and I attempted when I was the headless horseman at 9 years old lol This gave me the same vibe. 🎃
I grew up in the same county she lived when she was huge. She wasn't widely seen as a warm or friendly person. I'm only a few minutes in, though. I can't wait to hear your take. If the weed had chilled her as much as it has me, I'm sure she's dandy now.
Holy shit, I had a similar reaction during the pandemic. I got weirdly sentimental, and I would watch a lot of children's TV with my kids, just like.... vibing, I guess.
If you’re in the mood for spooky nostalgic comfort entertainment, may I recommend “Witch’s Night Out”? Cute late 70’s cartoon tv movie about a down on her luck witch having some fun, Halloween night shenanigans!
Love Evil Dead 2! Comedy horror is great. As a chronic anxiety sufferer too, scary movies for some reason calm me down. It quiets my brain and I’m always left with “wow at least I’m not them” 😂. Not jump scare ridden ones though, atmospheric ones like Hereditary.
This video was awesome and comfortingly nostalgic for me, too! Thanks! 🎃🧡 ...but also, you've gotta watch some of her later Halloween specials with Brendan Fraser. If you thought Martha was weird and vaguely sinister here...
The last 3 months of the year is my favorite time of the year, because of the Holy Trinity of holidays; Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. This month, I also went on the Roku Channel, but to watch some horror films I haven't seen before, like the creeptastic Terrifier from 2016.
It’s so nice to see someone with a similar Halloween content taste to mine. I want fall vibes, Halloween-specific content, and nothing overly scary. I enjoy the Halloweentowns and Hocus Pocus and Over the Garden Wall, and that’s more what I’m aiming for. I started watching Wellington Paranormal on HBO Max this spooky season and it’s hilarious and good for a quick monster bite.
Thanks, Allison, for doing this episode of your show on Martha Stewart's Halloween specials that aired on Food Network back in the day when they focused more on cooking shows I instead of mostly cheaper to produce reality shows, well, I mean, at least some of the reality shows are cooking related, but most of the nostalgic cooking instruction shows that more calm than all of the rowdy baking reality shows they have, well, there's Ina's Garden, Mary Makes it Easy, and other cooking instruction shows, so there's still some things on there cooking related on there, I guess! But either way, I love Martha Stewart, her and her best friend legendary rapper Snoop Dogg are both the best! Martha is incredible and her deserts are even better! Especially her Halloween recipes, those are fantastic!
I don't know if I would eat a cupcake prepared by a parrot. Also THANK YOU! I have been searching for these specials, the Christmas ones too are so comforting.
Me who doesn’t watch a lot of Home Living content but watches lots of UA-cam: Getting a lot of Jenny Nicholson’s Hallmark UA-cam Channel review vibes from this show
Whether your reading a book by a super-model, reviewing a My Little Pony series, talking Charmed or a Martha Stewart series, I LOVE your videos! Happy almost Halloween Allison 🎃
I highly recommend finding the book Martha Stewart's Better Than You at Entertaining. It's a parody book of her magazine and is quite funny. Seriously, it deserves all its 5 star ratings. The sequel is also gold.
"I don't want to be screamed at by a mean clown, I got enough anxiety!" Soooooo relatable.
Buddy, that's nothing compared to me dwelling on the nightmare face of "Another Princess Is In Our Castle"... there are some vinesauce streams I will regret watching...
That's the trouble with my love of horror, too: having enough anxiety already.
So, after watching this, my biggest takeaway is that Martha Stewart's show is just those Mary Kate and Ashley VHS tapes, but for adults.
Indeed
I’ve never thought of it that way but wow you really hit the nail on the head.
"Do you wanna watch Marth Stewart Living?"
"Absolutely not."
"Do you wanna watch Allison talk about Marth Stewart Living?"
"Absolutely."
Somehow, this is my entire interaction with Allison's channel
Yea the pandemic is “over” but I still feel anxiety and hesitant to travel. Childhood nostalgia is a great tool to feel that safety again. Nothing better than walking in my hood in autumn seeing the decorations and leaves. I love all your videos please never stop!

How the Grinch stole Martha Stewart's caramel
You have to admit, her Halloween game was always on point.

Halloween may not be Grinch Night, but it certainly is Martha's Night!
As a single 35 year old man, my favorite show during the lockdown was Miraculous Ladybug. So I get you.
Today's good Halloween thing is brought to you by Allison
This video is a good thing.
My God, I think I owned that same NEC computer monitor!

I used to also love the Sandra Lee Halloween specials on food network. Such amazing costumes to make a cocktail.
The only thing I remember about this show is that my mom had an irrational hatred of all things Martha Stewart for some reason
My favorite Martha pronunciation was "ConFECTIONARY sugar"!
To your closing line: thank you, Allison.
That computer is peak 90's, holy crap.
This was an unexpectedly personal video. Thanks, Allison! 🎃🎃
"The child took one look and started to cry"
Can't blame them, honestly
Just a 10/10 on the wholesome content .
This was great I wish I had time to watch it before Halloween. Still better late than never

How delightful! I've got my afternoon Halloween show set for making my own themed treats
I gotta find a way to show this lady's show to my mom, because i feel like they both give off the same vibes and she would greatly enjoy it
When I say that I like Halloween, this is what I mean. This is the exact Aesthetic I'm looking for.
This came out great, always happy to see you talk about something different!

I'm not sure that the Windows UI has improved since... whichever version of Windows that is.
I think some of the robust nostalgia around Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas has to do with grade-school crafts.
