  • How do we clean the oceans? With a little help from our friends, of course - and Ewan Topping, our Senior Partnership Manager, helps us find them. Hundreds of organizations collaborate with The Ocean Cleanup, and Ewan tells us the key to attracting the right support: identify a shared problem and find partners motivated to solve it. Listen to the full podcast here: theoceancleanup.com/podcasts/....
But it's not all about big organizations - many of you, our listeners, support The Ocean Cleanup each month. Ewan tells us how this is now easier than ever with our new fundraising platform, ready for anyone around the world to help us rid the oceans of plastic: fund.theoceancleanup.com.

I don't have much in terms of money or influence, but I spread the news wherever I can and have a recurring donation. I'll be a part of this any way I can

"this is a finite project" i don't think i have ever wished for a company i love to go out of business, but i hope this happens here. And this brilliant company can turn its attention elsewhere because humans need all the help to do right by our brilliant planet.

I think you need to ramp up the Interceptors too. It's proven you can stop it at the source as we've seen in Asia, Jamaica, Costa Rica and California. I know you have identified rivers as the source.

REAL ACTION ! So good to see folks working together. The whole world has forgotten how to get along lately. Thank you for some feel good news.

  • @iamjacquesbarjon

More dollars should be directed towards building more river Interceptors. I have to think the ROI at stopping pollution at the source and closer to local fishing grounds, tourist destinations, etc. is higher than fishing it out of the middle of the ocean.

Idea: set a fundraising goals for each country to fund at least one. Pool private and government donations together untill one can be built and deployed with costs covered. Once there is enough funding Paint a flag on it. Make the plastic collection count public on the website so everyone can see what has been collected. A little friendly compitition goes a long way. You will likely get far more donations too.

Crowd source. Thanks for caring about the future of the planet. Cleaning the patch might not save it, but symbolically I think it's monumental for our chances.

Sponsor a River Interceptor! I think putting 100-1000 in place will shrink the ocean traffic too. I know the existing garbage needs tackling but River Interceptors put plastic in people's minds.

A few people who claim to be philanthropists can surely see the benefit of this. Any one of them could provide sufficient funding on their own - Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Gill Bates, King Charles and others - Will they step up?
