I've seen Canadian political debates, and they give people the proper respect, and if they talk longer than the allotted time, their mic is muted. i think the problem with that is someone can list off a bunch of garbage like biden did and then trump has only enough rebuttal time to disprove 1 and then gets shut down by the mod and gets upset. i think it was a poor debate format and if they let them keep bickering they would eventually come round to something at least somewhat productive. my takeaway from that debate. BIDEN WAS ABOUT TO FUMBLE ON THE 1 YARD LINE AND TRUMP TACKLED HIM INTO THE ENDZONE. trump had biden dead to rights in the 1st third and fked it up when he started interrupting with paragraphs instead of sentences.

I once took a debate class in 11th grade. We were taught how to PROPERLY do a debate. Real debates are formal. It is basically like a trial at court. In fact, they were not only formal, they were basically staged. Both parties practice their debate with one another. Its basically like an act. They plan what they will say to one another prior. Its a performance. For example, party1 would state out their argument while party2 is silent. There would be a judge timing each party for how long they can go. And when they say stop, you stop. Then once both have given their argument. Each party gets a turn to then question the other party. This is also very formal. You can't interrupt or argue. party1 asks a question to party2 about their argument and basically puts their arguments into question. Party2 only answers when party1 is done asking the question, then they give their defense. No arguing or interrupting occurs. For a short period however, both parties get time to actually argue with one another, but this is a timed thing. Then finally, each party gives a conclusion to their arguments, and that is all.
