  • Another step when learning Industrial Design Fundamentals is understanding how to round corners. I find this can be quite a difficult thing to explain so I hope I make sense here and you understand me ^_^

    Thank you for taking your time explaining in depth! Some others just go over it too quickly.
    Something I realized that can help others do this without the reference planes (as they get familiar with the concept) is that the plane corner closer to the viewer is always going to have the "longer side" of the ellipse, from there we can figure out the rest.

    • @mspeanutsandicecream
      @mspeanutsandicecream 4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the tip! Is this because the closet plane corner tends to be "squashed" more? In the same way a camera lens with different lens have different distortion of the image? Just trying to understand a little more here :)

    • @abrhmsancehz
      @abrhmsancehz 4 роки тому +2

      @@mspeanutsandicecream it's because of the angle of the corners. Usually the closest ones form an obtuse angle (more distortion) and the farthest ones are acute (less distorsion)

    Notice how he flips the paper guys. You can draw straighter lines diagonally.

    • @robertlkiss
      @robertlkiss  2 роки тому +4

      It's not necessairly diagonally , it's about finding any orientation that is most comfortable for your hand to draw in.

    What is different between artist drawing & product design skeching?

    • @robertlkiss

      In isometric view unlike in perspective the lines will not converge into a perspective point they will be always parallel. Artist drawing can be a field with flowers, sunshine and a forest. A product design sketch i usually communicating a products aesthetics and how it used or supposed to be used.

    • @robertlkiss
      @robertlkiss  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah that is the hard part, in industrial design you learn to draw long straight lines but that usually goes best in one direction so you always tend to adjust the paper for that. Which gives you nice results but sadly capturing it on video is less pleasant.
