I have really been getting into Doom Metal as of late. Coming from such Death Metal bands as Dying Fetus, Decrepit Birth, and Nile, I find the bands Ahab, Esoteric, and Evoken to be the perfect metal compliments. Instead of technicality, there is thoughtfulness. Instead of speed, patience. In place of overwhelming activity, there is breathtaking space and dread. Just goes to show how wonderful and diverse the genre "Metal" can be. Fantastic song from an exemplar band...long live METAL!
Lyrics from darklyrics.com : Although we may rationalise (sic), Nurture our fate Nothing can prepare or compare with This immeasurable sense of loss All can be calm Until that thought arises And plummets toward the ground Time passes like the dripping of a tap And sleep, becomes that time when the body can no longer be awake Each morning, eyes blearier than the night before But it had passed, As I was there within it Watching over as if through the eyes of another Through conscious repetition, But my thoughts were elsewhere Longing, but unable to take the steps That might continue this journey Indignant in this bleak landscape, that no longer binds Each serene moment, accompanied by another full of dread And I resolve, To that familiar feeling time tries so hard to bury To live life, only to bear
this song is the first song that i have heard of this type, and now im listening to some more because i feel the songs within me and it helps me do my hw
I'm not into doom metal because it's too slow for me but this is some really good song. You know, this is the reason why i became a metalhead. Metal is passion, and this song is . . . i cannot describe it with words even, like I said, I'm not into doom metal.
Neither do I, but if you ask me, heaviness is a sense of contrast and something you create through musical movements rather than merely hitting the lower strings very hard. Something like "Souls of the Evil Departed" by At The Gates (back when they were good) is incredibly heavy, less so because it sounds particularly thick/reverb-infested as much as it essentially creates a very strong "light/dark" dichotomy, to keep it simple.
funeral doom and death-doom are close relatives... death vocals are standard in funeral doom, but vocals are not in the forefront, rather they are bit atonic
Yeah but how do either of those qualities pertain to it's heaviness? Slower is often heavier in my opinion. I don't measure heaviness by how much noise is made in the least amount of time.

Best comment ever from a doom metal enthusiast. Thank you again and that's a good name you have btw
You need to check out Shape of Despair, Mournful Congregation and Clouds then.
If youre that into doom metal you have to listen to Heavy Lord
Delve further into the abyss & embrace the emptiness with Skepticism, Dolorian, Thergothon, Funeral, Ras Algethi, The Slow Death, Murkrat & Worship.
doom metal taught me to be patient in a long queue without complaining
Lllllli,oiiio
That intro is just so perfect.
Not as perfect as the outro.
Esoteric ftw
indeed
And i'm amazed once again, every time. Music that can induce that kind of emotions is more than just music.
That's called art.
One of the best album in funeral doom genre. Can't be bored to listen it. a great mix of technique and emotional structure.
Amazing song from a amazing band. 😱
Lyrics from darklyrics.com :
Although we may rationalise (sic),
Nurture our fate
Nothing can prepare or compare with
This immeasurable sense of loss
All can be calm
Until that thought arises
And plummets toward the ground
Time passes like the dripping of a tap
And sleep, becomes that time when the body can no longer be awake
Each morning, eyes blearier than the night before
But it had passed,
As I was there within it
Watching over as if through the eyes of another
Through conscious repetition,
But my thoughts were elsewhere
Longing, but unable to take the steps
That might continue this journey
Indignant in this bleak landscape, that no longer binds
Each serene moment, accompanied by another full of dread
And I resolve,
To that familiar feeling time tries so hard to bury
To live life, only to bear
At 3:11 I can feel my soul start to quiver with pure joy... at every listen.

Music I can FEEL.....finally.....
Gothic is a very primal form of this music... This is referring to another audience and in a different time... Do not compare two different things!

that riff after about 14mins is amazing
My soul loves it.
AMAZING...I don't know what say about this album! Is beautifull, album of the year!!!

Increible maravilla
Great band, good doom metal.
so fucking beautiful...
excellente rola
@vladolinko trust me, once you get used to it, the vocals are intolerable any other way. Same goes for death and black metal.
sooooo fucking good.
chingona la rola
Fuck yeah love it
HUGE
tyvm, now i now this xD
Personally I look down on most "newer" style doom (drone/stoner/funeral/sludge/etc.) but this is pretty well done.
death vocals?
some steel cutting guitar riffs
Electric Wizard \m/
Doom isn't actually much heavier as it is generally slower/more resonant.
K’aem’nhi kh’rn K’aem’nhi kh’r K’aem’nhi kh’rmnu

Then listen to another song ya dildo.
@@chrisglenn7755 You're replying to something I said 10 years ago?
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssssooooooooooooooooottttttteeeeeeeeeerrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiicccccc
Does this kind of slow, heavy metal have a name?
Funeral doom metal
4 justin bieber fans here
😠😠😠
One of the most intense song that ever existed!
Doom is so much heavier than any other genre. Blast beats and picking so fast that it just sounds like random noise don't do it for me.
where r u esoteric..need new album
CAPOLAVORO ASSOLUTO!!!!
GREAT SONG... BY GREAT BAND......ESOTERIC..DISCONSOLATE....
DAT SOLO!
Британия :3
This band never ceases to amaze me.
Brilliant, brings tears to my eyes. I`m already awaiting their next release.
@vladolinko you should perceive vocals here as the part of atmosphere, vast void etc. an aesthetics of this genre of music
no words.....simply WONDERFUL!!!
It's the other way round, Isis in its better times reminds of Esoteric.
Magnific !!! Amazing !!! Beautiful !!!
Remind me of Evoken. 🤘🏼👍🏼
very good funeral doom metal
I fucking love this song
death doom metal
Whole Esoteric is a masterpiece
Funeral Doom.
@vladolinko growls are signature for doom, Esoteric is okay. For a better influence I would recommend Shape of Despair - Shadowed Dreams ;)
the vocals are beautiful, at first they are strage, but you need to give them time.
yeah there are a lot of names this one is doom metal
Avant-garde funeral doom ! x)
Meaning they come last?
:p
Wasn't impressed to say the least. Too much meandering around, not enough song development.
