    As others have mentioned, please, for safety, wear rain gear in stead of those absorbant clothes... If you splash something on yourself you want it to roll off, not absorb into your clothes and soak into your skin. Please be safe, and keep up the awesome work! Definitely one of the very best projects I've seen on UA-cam.

Hollaenderon is a good guy to have doing your machining I watched a few of his videos and he is definitely an asset to this process, you should see if you can take that four cylnder he built out for a cruse and let us know what kind of a wild power band that monster has, oh wow just got goose bumps thinkng about it lol. Glad you are sharing this with us and keeping us up to date on this amazing build process. Good luck with the honing and lets see a pretty crosshatching in the clynder when you get finished. Can't imagine how much money you've spent on this project. Buying all the stuff to cast these cylinders and all these chemicals and stuff that goes with that process. At first I thought you were really just gonna try something you thought might work. But now im really starting to believe your really confident in this new design. I hope you are too cuz it'd be awesome to advance the 2 stroke design to make more power! And on a 50cc! Some of the most fun I've had in my life was on a 25cc goped, a stand up scooter with motor, and 50 cc yamaha Zuma scooters I had great times on wishing I could double the horsepower on. Hope we get some good results with your design!

    You know it would be a pity to see this technology forgotten about. I've always thought that there was more to it than just a block of aluminum. I have always had a fascination with any kind of motor. It is a fantastic art to know. I believe with the right combination there's a formula that merges man and machine. After all this is the beginning of the 4th industrial revolution.✌️🖖 Cheers🥃🥃To the future. And cheers to plugging in with our favorite motor 😉❤️. Be the fuel.

    now, i'm designing an engine too (2stroke, double boxer, 720cc, and the powertrain and car to go with it). i'm using as much off the shelf components as i can, just making the casings, crank assy and injection system (at first). i might consider casting cylinders, but would never dare plate myself (seeing as how many profs i've seen bork it recently). i don't agree with all your concepts, but you, glorious northman, remind me of that glorious southerner, Burt Munro. may you shelf be full of offerings.

    I would suggest using an expandable rubber plug to plug the bore while plastic coating. They come in many sizes. Plumbers and such use them. They expand by tightening a bolt in the center. You can also get them at auto parts stores as rubber freeze plugs.
    I use HBN powder to coat bullets for my target rifle. It let's me use more powder in my loads to shoot faster because of the reduced friction and it allows the bore to last longer and stay cleaner. It is amazingly slippery.
    I wonder if you could rig up a piston in the bad cylinder with an electric motor running the piston up and down? That way you could use it to test how many strokes it will take to wear through the plating. Just a thought.

    • @Krozhin
      @Krozhin 5 років тому +2

      But running the piston through the cylinder dry would wear alot more than having one running

    • @ronnybe7994

      Yep you plate the bullets. Pretty hard to put a barrel in a rotary tumbler. The bullets in turn deposit HBN onto the barrel. There is a whole industry devoted to it. There are several coatings you can use. I have used molybdenum and hbn the hbn has a better friction coefficient and is much cleaner to work with. Moly works well but is messy and when it gets wet it can form a corrosive substance.

    • @Krozhin

    cut the cylinder in half and look at it under a microscope, you can get one of those cheap USB microscopes. You might want to get a aluminum tube you can cut into a bunch of cylinders to test the particle adhesion on (inspect with microscope).

    • @jamest5149
      @jamest5149 3 роки тому

      Why? Just measure before and after and you will have the thickness without destructive testing 👍

    • @reinokotze
      @reinokotze 3 роки тому +2

      James T You are imbedding particles into the plating. The distribution and particle adhesion is the important part, not the metal you are doing it with or the thickness of the plating. This is much more effected by the particles in suspension and how many, this is also effected by particle size , liquid density and agitation method.
      Thats why this process is trademarked and is very difficult to find info on. Some business have perfected it via trail and error.
