- Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, widely recognized as KTR, is a Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and the son of K Chandrashekar Rao, the first Chief Minister of Telangana, created after bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.
Previously, he served as cabinet minister for IT, Municipal Administration & Urban Development in Telangana's second assembly. He continues to represent the Sircilla assembly constituency since 2009 and holds the position of working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party.
In the latest episode of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, KTR alleges that the ruling government has captured the country's institutions and there is no space for dissent. The former Telangana minister expressed his dislike for the Congress and its current leadership. He also dismisses the Delhi Liquor 'Scam' and adds that his sister K Kavitha is being wrongly accused in it and Central agencies are working at the behest of the Central government.
He also questioned Telangana's Congress CM Revanth Reddy's ties with the RSS. KTR also dismissed the idea of dynasty politics, contending accomplishments and merits over familial ties. This exclusive interaction offers a closer look into the functioning of politics in the state of Telangana.

Telangana is a state where a long-fought battle ensued for its separation from Andhra Pradesh. Thousands lost their lives in this struggle since 1969. KCR, single-handedly initiated a party and after 14 years of relentless agitation, we finally achieved statehood.
KTR, alongside his father since 2006, faced numerous obstacles, including police interventions and legal cases, yet persistently fought for the state politically. Once in power, he consistently delivered on his promises, showcasing his capabilities repeatedly.
For someone like him, who has endured countless political challenges, it’s a matter of pride to highlight the transformative changes they’ve brought to the lives of Telangana’s people. The allegations against him and his father are baseless; there’s no evidence of wrongdoing from the government or any officials such as phone tapping or corruption in projects like Kaleshwaram.
If you look at the statistics of the best-performing states in India, regardless of your sentiments towards your own state’s performance, Telangana consistently ranks among the top two. That’s the result of KCR and KTR’s leadership, which is rooted in democracy and secularism.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the BJP has consistently opposed the welfare initiatives for the people of Telangana. Despite being one of the best-performing states, we have not received any special treatment from the central government. Our leaders have repeatedly requested national institutes for the state, yet these pleas have been ignored time and again
Regarding their loss in the assembly elections, it was due to the failure of the Congress to fulfill its promises, including the six major guarantees and thirteen subsidiary guarantees. Since these pledges remained unfulfilled even after six months, the people of Telangana turned against them. That’s why KTR is so confident in the upcoming MP elections.
And he mentioned it seems like a different country because:
"We don't rely on gods and symbols for votes, we rely on good governance and results."
