Since he was 16 year old, the weight of conquering football with multiple Ballon d'Ors and and bringing Brazil to world cup glory once more had always been on his back since the very beginning of his career. Behind Messi and Ronaldo, Neymar has been the most consistently great player of the last 15 years. But as great as he was, the Prince of Football just never quite managed to take the crown and become king.

Ney is one of the few world class footballers left who is actually FUN to watch on a consistent basis. The way he moves the ball is so SLICK
I really love watching him rolling over the ground

@blocblackboyblack9226 but neymar s was the best
He’s the Guy who was stuck in between generations tbh His prime years Were alongside Messi and Ronaldo’s who essentially were the 2 unquestionably best in the world till around 2019/2020 when Neymar was already 30 years old his career has also been struck with lots of unfortunate events and injuries but leaving Barca back in 2017 truly sealed his fate imo
Yup… I really wanted him to win that UCL final in 2020 at least, dude is easily the third greatest of this past decade for me
Yeah but that first season in paris he was incredible, genuinely the best player in the world up until the round of 16 of the champions league where they were beat by madrid. After, that first injury he was never really the same although he did produce very good numbers.
@@noonedndnwhich injury?
@@wolf764 dyu remember that injury he got not long after the Madrid game, I think it was during a league 1 game but I forgot which team.
@@noonedndn i thought the injury in wc was what really started it but i think i remember
Neymar was the Biggest natural raw talent aside Messi..
He was the biggest uprising youngster, much more so than Messi and Ronaldo..I remember in 2010 when i started hearing this name Neymar..I got curious since he was a brazilian so went to watch his matches and My God, he was ridiculously incredible..The dribbling, the sheer skills and improvisation dribbling skills.. That's why Madrid wanted him so bad but fortunately, Barca got him..
It's a shame he succumbed to the usual indisciplinary acts of our fellow Brazilians
Instead of creating his own path alongside Pele, they rendee themselves on the path of night life, drinking and sometimes womanizing.. It's really a shame how the biggest Footballing nation always tend to become the biggest disgrace as well..
How they'd rule the world of football if they are discipline
I say he had more natural talent than Messi, but he just never put the work in whereas Messi did
@@MilesPD08Messi far more natural talented
@@pauliyonas3576 nope ney just wasnt as dedicated
Leaving barca was the biggest mistake. 2010 to 2016 were peak neymar
@@flux3033 Neymar dribbling Will never be as good as Messi's because Messi touch when dribbling is supernatural. Nobody in history of football can do that except maybe maradona.
And you can't teach Messi's Vision it is just supernatural.
Neymar since the beginning of his career, had the most pressure on his shoulder to be an all time great, multiple ballon dor winner, and give his country a world cup. Even more pressure compared to CR7, Messi, Mbappe, or Haaland. Easily the third greatest player of this generation for me. Such a shame the prince of football could never take the crown and become king.
Absolutely..It's a shame he succumbed to the usual indisciplinary acts of our fellow Brazilians

suarez not in his generation or somehow neymar is better?
@@shawnradke for every single year of their career Neymar was more consistently great
I think that he fits into a weird generation because he started his ascent when the previous generation (Messi/Ronaldo) should have been burning out but because of improvements in sports science they just kept going and going meaning he never really got his time in the sun. As such he's ending his competitive career while the new generation (Mbappe/Haaland/Vinicius JR) are getting established
Did you just like your own comment?
The last player to show us the Brazilian style of free and expressive football. His injuries and dives over shadowed his achievements. With social media blowing up and ridiculing him for it, it’s hard for a lot of people to fully appreciate him and really easy for haters to hate.
i agree
Yeah honestly he would get so much more love and respect if he didnt dive a lot
@@RaymarFootball that’s what made me not really become a fan. When I watched games the only thing that stood out were the dives. When I would see the highlights only if the same game, it was a completely different play. Such finesse and skill.
@@kingspartacus2407 defo, but during his spell at barcelona, and the first 2 seasons in paris he was incredible. Every time he touched the ball, something would happen, but as his career went on the diving got progessively worse.
but what about Vini Jr, he also is extremly good at skills and dribbling...
Sure, no one compares to Ronaldinho/Garrincha or even Okocha but Neymar is a close 4th place in terms of skills and dribbling.
I'm not putting Messi or Maradona because they were all about dribbling and not so much of skills (Maradona had more skills/faints than Messi)
Dribbling in general it would be efficiency and the top 5 would be Maradona, Pelé, Messi, Ronaldinho and Garrincha (doesn't matter this order)
I remember late 2014 to 2017 when all you could hear was Neymar.. Neymar's fame peaked in 2016 when he even became a cover for PES 2016
Honestly it was insane, it’ll be hard for anyone to ever have that much hype ever again tbh
Neymar was born a decade to late. I honestly imagine that his prime in the 1990s/2000s would be enough to be considered one of the all time greats.
Or a decade early
@@carlkarabo2273facts. He'd definitely be leading the Vini, Haaland, Mbappe race if he was in this generation. Ridiculously talented even in his teens.
@@zamanimvukela4573 if he took his health and craft seriously he could easily start competing with them right now. Look at how Ronaldo, Messi, Zlatan, Lewa, Benzi played in their 30s. @@user-ov6ht3lu4dexactly
Yup that's a reason but another reason is It's all about passion he never had the passion like the 2 goats
I admire how chill Neymar is about all that media attention and pricks hating on him
He’s just like: “I enjoy my football make money and enjoy my life.”
I’ve got respect for his IDGAF mentality. Most players under that kind of pressure would’ve cracked wayyy early.
Yeah man especially considering he’s had more pressure than any footballer to be great since he was a kid, even CR7 or Messi didnt have that much expectation at 16-18
Barcelona fans remember the Neymar days. We loved him
Crazy how much he has been taken for granted and disrespected
Yeah just because he never won any big finals..
People don't disrespect players for no reason. He started with all the diving and disrespect to the sport, which caused it. World class player nevertheless
He won Libertadores, Champions League and Olimpics.

People should check out Neymar’s injury stretches, the amount of tackles he has gotten, the amount of time he is tackled in a match on average vs everyone … and they would appreciate what he has done. The fact that he still plays is a miracle In itself.
He just so happens to be playing with the Titans of football at their prime. His European career is not wasted at all, he is still great and still most exciting and talented footballers to ever played.
Ney is still one of the greatest ever even with all the injuries. His catalogue and stats is alot more amazing than people give him credit for and he’s the only player who still plays with joy and creativity
He gets too much yellow cards
averaging 1 goal contribution per game theoughout his entire time in europe… insane honestly
@@RaymarFootball Yes but his time in europe was either in a ridiculusly Overpowered barca, or in the farmers legue.
Neymar's career is the embodiment of reality, sometimes it's not about the results but the process. Watching Neymar is just pure entertainment. And btw, he's the only player that ever come close to Messi and Ronaldo in their prime.
I think a Prime Ronaldinho and a Prime R9 were better
Neymar isn’t close to Messi or CR7, the man isn’t even the third best player of hisgendration.
Suarez, Lewandowski, Modric, KDB, Haaland etc are all closer to Messi and CR7 then what Neymar is
You’re delusional if you think any of those players are anywhere near Neymar. He was clearly the #3 player of his generation (but had potential to be #1)
@@alexandrecl4331 his only issue was career decision making skills every team he joined was already good like Barca and psg if he joined a bad team in 2013 he would of been a legend

Neymar's quarter-final goal at WC2022 was one of the best goal I've ever seen, specially if anyone watched the whole match and how difficult was it to get past Croatian defence. But he is just unlucky.
Madrid fan, neymar is the only barcelona player i truly envied them of having, formed arguably the greatest front three "msn" the world had ever seen, easily could have had a better career in terms of titles won but at the same time his current stats is really no joke , a lot of world class player's would have loved to had neymar's career.
well said brother
I don't think he left PSG to go for the money honestly he was pushed out and not a lot of clubs wanted him and were willing to pay the price
and why is that? dude is a diva with no discipline. the only thing he is the absolute best at is diving.
He's been through a lot over his career, with injuries and bad luck 💔 I really wished he would keep trying for Brazil🇧🇷❌️
LIke Messi for Argentina 🇦🇷✅️
Messi went through heartache after heartache, by no fault of his own (except his 2016 penalty miss 😔) and even came out of international retirtement to keep on fighting for national glory. And he did it. In his mid 30s, he actually did it.
Neymar still has 3-4 years left to prove the world what he can do. Moving to Saudi was so heartbreaking, he gave up on his dreams... Sad 😢
The move isn’t too bad but the 2 years he’ll be 33 and most teams won’t want him to start
Here in Brasil I remembered his highlights in Santos all the time on tv and I would go to the sports court and try to replicate. A whole generetional idol, that inspired our newer generation of footballers. His legacy should never die !!
in short answer alcohol and partying
no injuries
@@ave-6130due to reliance on talent instead of training?????
@@XUndergroundRap no…he wasn’t gettting muscle injuries he was getting bone injuries. It’s from dirty players hurting him because they couldn’t stop him and the refs not protecting him
He's always been very strong spirited but very injury prone like most players. Yet his spirit made him survive and not retire. He always carried thr team on his back. In brazil world cup he carried his team to semis and it looked sure they'll win with a pretty inexperienced team. But his absence made the nation suffer a horrible loss in home ground. I remember being heartbroken watching each goal and the single Oscar goal was painful to see. Yet he was desperate and always mocked for acting on the pitch. But no one can't deny he's once in a generation talent. He's definitely had longer career too. But constant injuries, lack of respect, money, gambling, women all of it made him lose his spirit a bit by bit. Yet he wants to go for it. And he deserves a world tittle. If he was born in this generation where incredible talent is lacking he'd be a top player over haaland and mbappe easily.
Even with Neymar Brazil would have been thrashed by Germany (just not as hard) due to Thiago Silva missing. Only with BOTH OF THEM on the field we might have had an interesting match,. I think Germany still would have won though because 2 superstar quality players cannot defeat 11 amazing ones, who stand together like a true team.
He was an amazing prince. The most elegant touch and passionate commitment to the game
Passionate commitment .. i disagree .
@@jabaribelfon7724 he's been playing since childhood. He has played through injuries and cried and bleed and still gave us all goose bumps while playing.
@@dr.stuffyperro cried too much indeed, he was far from competing with the greatest of his generation. As a dribbler we will forget about him very soon, cause we still remember that Ronalinho, R9, Robinho, etc, etc were way better than him.
@@SamSAM-oj7pw Robinho was nowhere close to Neymar when it comes to dribbling, actually as a player in general Neymar is better at everything when compared to Robinho lol
@@Mateus1570 overall I agree, but focusing on dribbling only, I think Robinho was better or equal. Anyway If we talk about his generation, Neymar was surpassed by a lot of player in general and if we talk about specific skills many other names will come to your mind before him.
We would always argue who was better messi or ronaldo, but we all wanted to play like neymar
yeah facts 😂😂😂
Neymar is already one of the greatest players of all time, and still has time left. Hopefully he gets out of Arabia soon, but a World Cup is all he’s missing.
it’ll be incredibly tough but there’s still a possibility if he goes for 1 last one
By that logic we could knock CR7 down a couple notches...I don't think a WC trophy is needed to be considered one of the best. Messi almost didn't get one but we'd still consider him to be the greatest ever if they lost. I'd say the same goes for Neymar and CR7 they are still among the greatest even without that trophy
@@Grooove_e but cr7 didn't left Europe at 31 unlike Neymar. Huge difference. Ronaldo still have second biggest international trophy(euro) with weaker team but Neymar can't do anything with such strong Brazil or psg
@@acclimatized8838 I see your point. I was only referencing the original comment about the world cup trophy, but what you said does make sense.
@@Grooove_e Yes but in the end of the day Messi has 2 WC MVP trophies, 1 lost final against one of the best national teams ever existed , And 1 Won WC final , 1 Finalissima, 1 Copa win, 3 more finals, multiple copa MVPS , and honestly the argentinian team of messi is worse than Neymar's brazil AND CR7 portugal.
Not to mention that this argentinian team has like.. a ridiculus amount of undefeated matches.. like 36 -37 or smt.. i think only italy and 1 more team has a better ratio than that.
I also don't think WC trophy is essential to be called the GOAT, it takes a lot of luck and very few matches determine the outcome.
But The overall achievements of messi in a national level are just too many.

It was a gift when I saw him play in Barcelona! So sad what happened after that 😞
If he stayed at Barça, it would be a different story. I honestly believe that. He would've won more major trophies as he would be such an important figure in Barça, especially in post Messi era. It would be a mutually beneficial thing for him and Barcelona.
That was the plan and he himself have said, he fked it up. Now it's too late and he has already left Europe after wasting the last few years in France.
Either way, he was the only name that could be placed next to Messi-Ronaldo during their glorious era. That's something.
Edit 1: Comparing yourself to The God of Football would be a mistake no matter who you are. No one will ever be as valuable, appreciated and loved as Messi, especially in Barça.
However, I still believe if he stayed in Barça, he would have a much better career football wise. Both parties would be better if he didn't leave.
Barça wouldn't be a sinking ship it is now if the 220 million from him leaving happened as the failures of replacing him wouldn't happen. It would still have financial problems because Bartomeu and his board of muppets would still fck things up colossally but at least the Neymar replacement part of the equation wouldn't exist. And by now, he would probably be the biggest star in Barça since Messi was sacrificed.
It's all "if" and that's the best way to describe Neymar's career. Lots of if.
He performed well in his first year before injury he led psg to their first finals the only thing that ruined him was unavoidable injuries
It’s quite funny, cause leaving Barca was his biggest downfall, so it’s quite poetic that him leaving was also Barca’s biggest downfall. After his departure came the string of poor and unfulfilled transfers that lead the club to bankruptcy and humiliation. The biggest transfer in the world and it sent him and Barca down opposite sides of the same rough hill.
I don't think so because after some time barca management fuc.ed if he moved to City or Bryan (ie with PEP) then that's a different story
@@sub_n33urath122pep would kick him out if he wouldn't change his lifestyle just like what he he did to Ronaldinho
Even with messi gone and neymar stays, he's still will be overshadowed by messi since that guy ingrained the club so much.

It would be nice a video about Bebeto, the brazilian player that did a duo with Romario in the 90s and won the 1994 world cup, aways between the best players in the world in the early 90s, but few people outside of Brazil talk about him
Another Brazilian players thar deserve a video are Carlos alberto torres, one of the best players in the world in the 60s and 70s, and a crucial part of brazil's succes in the 1970 world cup
And Giovani Elber and Mario Jardel. Two Brazilian goalscorers that featured few for the national team, due to the players that brazil already had in their position in the late 90s and early 00s
Neymar should of never left Barća...but he followed the bag💰...he will forever remembered as what could have been😢.
i wish he stayed at barca or at least went to a better team than psg. imagine if he never got injured during the world cup and imagine if he could have done more with his career. we will never know now ig.
Neymar was a beast in PSG. It's the poor defence of PSG same goes for Brasil
Neymar should have left to Man City and not Psg

the one thing people mistake about describing Neymar's game is when they say he has poor work ethic. the dudes has the highest work rate every game running around creating chances.
So sad man I thought he would be the greatest
I remember watching him in Haiti, moral of the story is be patient your time will come, that's all he needed but chose to leave too early.
Left Barca for PSG and still ended up living in Mbappe's shadow 😂
My favourite player, I think in the terms of a talent, no one comes even close to Him, he is unlucky with many injuries. I like Him as a person cause he seems to be humble just enjoying what he is doing cause some players are not l think...for me this guy is an art of football and I will always remember Him no matter if he wins some big trophy or not. That is what makes Him different than other accomplished footballers, people still talk about Him...
Kinda appreciate Messi and Ronaldo even more. Given they can keep their head straight.
Neymar is great, but in Brazil you must win a World Cup to be considered one of the greatest, that’s a lot of pressure
Yeah and everyone was already expecting him to do it ever since he was 16… not even Messi or Cr7 had as much pressure tbg
@@RaymarFootball messi also had pressure especially after his badly he performed in 2010. Plus hopes from Neymar increased after how good he performed in 2014 wc n in that age. I remember when i was a kid here in Brazil and having the same haircut as Neymar was Basically a dream
my (former) favorite player of all time his attitude and the people he kept around him have been his incredibly disappointing downfall. heartbroken the 2nd half of his career has been what it has been
His attitude is pretty good every teammate and coach of his have only said good things about him. One of his faults though is his career decision making skills
Great video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
He’s the last one man show. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. He had great numbers but his playstyle let him down. We all loved watching him but if he kept it more efficient, less tricks, he could’ve had even more goal contributions which is scary but it’s why he always came so close to victory but failed. He has a great legacy but he was supposed to be THE best and he was never that.
0:13 Oh boy the memories... Those were the days!
Indeed man, you really had to be there to experience the hype. I dont think any other footballer will have so much hype in a really long time
He’s the last of his kind. These days players are just athletes in complex tactical systems.
They are no longer magicians with the ball.
That’s so true man… Very few still have that magic most are getting older and retiring
Injuries are not always due to bad luck, most of the time it's precipitated by poor preparation and training. Unfortunately Neymar's nature is too relaxed, lazy even. And laziness could be very crippling to some. Most of his injuries I think could've been prevented by more dedicated time in the gym. Another example is Hazard, retired at 32, multiple injuries but notoriously known for his laziness and minimal training between games. A player is not just prone to injures, you have to look sometimes for the reasons.
Very fun to watch player. He can beat his marker 1v1 any way he wants, and versus multiple opponents even... sometimes what he used to do on the pitch would exceed my imagination. His greatest game ever, for me, was the "Remontada" against PSG. Up to that point I did not think it possible to play for Barca, dictate the game in the attack and not being named Messi. Neymar did that impossible thing in the most impossible comeback. Free kick, assist, all in the dying minutes of the game. He took the reigns and won it.
The aforementioned free kick and assist is just an indication of these aspects of his game. He does have the free kick, the playmaking, and the scoring in his repertoire but he is mostly known for his dribbling. It's natural, because dribbling is what separates Neymar from the rest. It feels like this type of dribbling is a dying art. Especially in the English game, which sadly eclipses the other leagues in terms of viewership and popularity. Even if nowadays there is a Kvaratskhelia, a Vinicius, a Leao... they still don't have the skills that Neymar had. And also I believe they don't match Neymar's dribbling volume. I am not sure how the statistic can back it or not, but that's what I assume. Messi never was very fancy with his tricks and dribbles, because he did things that looked simple but work for him everytime. He never really had to do something different until recently. Messi is (or rather "was" 😢) a freak because he can/could dribble with great precision at very high speed. Also because of the volume of his goals, assists, free kick goals, consistency, longevity, decision making... Ok, you get the point. Neymar lacked the consistency and longevity, and although on the pitch his decision making wasn't bad, his career decisions were terrible for his "legacy". The talent remains intact by his career decisions and injuries. His legacy is tainted though.
His theatrics at the 2018 WC also hurt his image a lot. If only people would judge on talent alone, Neymar would still be one the most beloved and appreciated princes of football. However, at the end of his career, I think he will get the recognition that he deserves as one of football's greats.
*Ney gets his body ripped to shreds from brutal tackles and unlucky injuries*

Im a huge madrid fan and hated how good MSN was but i am so heartbroken still at the fact that he left Barcelona. I really wanted to see his potential flourish there. Raw talent was completely insane i loved the dynamic he brought to MSN. Unstoppable 3
I remember hearing about him long before ever watching him play in the Confederations cup in 2013 and i have never been as convinced by a talent in my life as he completely dominated that tournament. Seeing how much of a disappointment he has been is almost too surreal to imagine.
Neymar stats are nuts ande people still talk trash about him is not even fair
He had the talent to surpass them both, but not the dedication. He was more distracted with money
Neymar tinha potêncial e muito talento, mas não acredito que ele superaria o Messi, impossível pra mim.
I remember him for rolling endlessly on the ground after a light touch.
He had an unbelievably high ceiling and potential to be the best. Him being fouled more than any other player probably took a huge toll on his body. He was good, but not as good as he should’ve been
Best Brazilian player since Kaka and Ronaldinho
I can say one thing Neymar style of playing is one of a kind, while running with football with full speed and dribbles a lot of players, the secret is he makes a connection with gravity and wind all at single time makes him a LEGEND,those who knows know
My take on Neymar as a Messi fan is: Ney = Messi skills + Ronaldo athleticism + a little flavor
I think he had objectively more talent and he could've been the best without a doubt. I think ultimately his mistake was to leave for psg. Even if he wanted to leave barca he should've picked a better team to go to (which is funny cause there was no better team back then). It's like Haaland wanting to leave man city for chelsea or any other team. LUDICROUS!!!!
Exact same feeling
It's Ronaldinho all over again 😪Amazing form at Barca started to fall after leaving them.
His only bad year was 20-21 season
he is the most fouled player on the pitch. those injuries add up..

One of the reasons why neymar didn’t go to madrid was because of what happened to pele, leaving brazil and staying far from home while being in a foreign country would had have a negative impact on him, even pele, advised his father to NOT let him sign to madrid because of what happened to him, pele got fouled, pushed and hurt so much that he had an early retirement to his career, if neymar would have signed to madrid the same thing that happened to pele would also have happened to neymar, keep in mind pele only retired at age 30, what would be his prime.
First time I heard of Neymar, he showed up with Santos against Red Bulls and I still remember saying "who is this guy, what's so special about him" Neymar had too many shoes to fill from a country that produced some of the best players in the world, I personally think fame got to his head and didn't focus enough on his job.
👏👏👏 Amazing video. I love how you called the Brazil-Croatia penalty shootout the most PATHETHIC penalty shootout you've ever seen. 😂😂😂
At least he will keep on rolling in our memories.
I am sorry but going to psg was his doom. I love him. His style, his passion. But it is hearthbreaking

Never bought the "under Messi's shadow" narrative. It was a media self-fulfilling prophecy. Suarez outscored the two legends in their prime, twice, and nobody said that about him.
He had renewed his Barca contract when that runt PSG owner paid the ungodly buyout clause. It did so much damage to pro football. So glad P$G hasn't been able to buy a UCL.
Also never bought the "dive and roll" meme. Amazing he averaged around 1 contribution per game with all those people hacking his legs. Most fouled player for a reason. Refs didn't do much for him. They literally cracked his back in the World Cup.
Neymar used to be amazing to people our age (based on when you started highschool, we are similar ages) but over time many people including myself just lost respect for him due to his lack of commitment, antics on and off the field. I think, because we are so wishful that we could only be so lucky to be in a position like him with his talent, that it angers me to see someone waste it.
I think he still has 5/6yrs left in his career. Hope he returns to Europe in 2025🙃
Brazillian Player syndrome. Talented players that are not disipline and enjoy partying all night
