The knee brace needs to support the knee for walking and standing. For serious injuries or arthritis, it has to have metal rods for support. For mild knee pain, tight brace to ease the pain is enough.

I also like hiking doing 5 to 6 hr hikes, is it ok when i put on knee braces, i just recently started feeling some pain but usually not consistent, I am 56 and usually also do 2 times elliptical gentle running, 1 time yoga a week

Knee braces are good for hiking to protect the knees from injury especially going downhill
