If I'm using a TP-Link mesh Wi-Fi router that my brother set up, and I used my laptop without changing anything, does that mean I'm automatically connected to the new TP-Link mesh Wi-Fi router, or am I still connected to the old Wi-Fi router?

If you didn’t change the WiFi connection it will still be connected to the old network. You would have to go into the laptop internet settings and change to the new network and password 👍

@@ChrisBassettTV Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this! I really appreciate your help, and your response was exactly what I needed. I'll go ahead and switch to the new network like you suggested. You're a lifesaver! 😊👍

My Internet is slower when using the router vs using the modem... I get 500 mbps when connected straight to computer from modem but when i connect modem to router and then computer to router its only 100 mbps

Hey Casey! Here’s some basic troubleshooting: If your internet is slower when using the router compared to the modem, there could be several reasons:
      1. Router Hardware Issues
      - Older or low-quality router
      - Router needs firmware update
      - Router is outdated or damaged
      2. Signal Interference
      - Other electronic devices interfering
      - Walls or obstacles blocking signal
      - Neighboring WiFi networks causing congestion
      3. Router Configuration
      - Incorrect router settings
      - Wrong WiFi channel selection
      - Outdated security protocols
      4. Channel Congestion
      - Too many devices connected
      - Overcrowded WiFi channel
      - Limited bandwidth
      5. Distance from Router
      - Weak signal strength
      - Physical barriers reducing signal
      Troubleshooting Steps:
      - Update router firmware
      - Change WiFi channel
      - Position router centrally
      - Use 5GHz band if available
      - Check for firmware updates
      - Reset router to factory settings
      - Consider replacing older router
      - Use wired Ethernet connection
      - Contact your internet service provider

Hey H5! Hmmm … I’m not 100% sure on that, but here’s some basic troubleshooting advice..
      1. **Check Power Supply**: Ensure that the router is plugged in and powered on. Look for any indicator lights; if they are off, there might be a power issue.
      2. **Restart the Router**: Unplug the router from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. This can help reset the connection.
      3. **Check Cables**: Make sure all cables (power, Ethernet) are securely connected. If you are using a modem, ensure it is properly connected to the router.
      4. **Verify Internet Connection**: If you have a separate modem, check if the modem is connected to the internet. You can do this by connecting a device directly to the modem via Ethernet.
      5. **Check Wireless Settings**: Ensure that the wireless settings on the router are enabled. You can access the router’s settings through a web browser (usually by entering an IP address like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
      6. **Look for Interference**: Other electronic devices, walls, or large objects can interfere with the WiFi signal. Try moving the router to a more central location in your home.
      7. **Update Firmware**: If you can access the router’s settings, check if there’s a firmware update available. Keeping the firmware updated can resolve connectivity issues.
      8. **Check Device Connectivity**: Make sure the device you’re trying to connect is within range of the router and that WiFi is enabled on the device.
      9. **Reset the Router**: If all else fails, you can perform a factory reset on the router. Look for a reset button on the device, but be aware that this will erase all custom settings.
If none of these steps work, you may need to contact your internet service provider for further assistance.
