I had to sift through a dozen videos before I found one that helped. Thank you for the explanation of the control module.

Maybe you can help me with my issue. I have a Heat & Glo Escape, Model # DF 135LP-F, Serial # LC4650667. My problem, since new is: if I turn on my insert for the first time each year (after turning off the gas valve and unplugging the inert for the OFF season or replacing the battery's in the RC300 remote) when I push the ON/OFF switch to start using the insert the insert may turn ON but it won't work as a thermostat. It will not show "SET TEMP" on the remote, upper right corner. I have figured a set of steps to get the "SET TEMP" numbers to appear on the remote. Some times it takes numerous tries. I know I can unplug the power cord to restart the syncing process, or Re-set the rocker switch on the lower Left Front behind and under the door to re set the start up procedure of syncing the RC 300 RC to my insert or there is another step that sometimes will cause the "SET TEMP" numbers to appear on the remote and that is also on the electronic control module (NG/LP GAS TYPE SELECTOR SWITCH) (my insert is LPG, so I switch it from LP to NG and back to LP which causes it to sync up sometimes). Sometimes I have to mess with all of this mess to get the "SET TEMP" temperature to appear on my RC 300 remote. This has been doing this with my insert since I purchased it in Nov. 2017. The owner/technician came out the next year when I turned it on in the fall for the next season. He couldn't get the "SET TEMP" temperature to appear ob the RC 300 either (he said he had one of these units in his home). He replaced the RC 300 and it worked. Then, in Jan./Feb 2020 it did it again (when I replaced the battery's in the RC 300, I called the dealer and found new owners with no trained tech. They hired a tech and sent him for training, then Covid hit and they kept calling me to give me excuses why the couldn't come for a repair visit. I bought a new RC 300 on Amazon and a new NG/LP Gas TYPE SELECTOR SWITCH_Control unit and it did the same thing. When I set the new unit to LP that's when I discovered that would (maybe after several attempts) cause the "SET Temp" temperature to appear on my RC 300 remote. I reinstalled the original parts and have new spares. This happens when I have to replace the battery's in the RC 300 or have unplugged the ac cord on the insert for the season. I never have received a call back from "my dealer" and I have not called them in more than a year since I have come up with different routines to go through to get the "SET TEMP" temperature numbers to appear on the RC 300 remote control. Anyone have an idea or suggestion? I can't find a Heat & Glo Tech Support line, they say contact my dealer which is a joke!

My fireplace will only light with the sensor wire disconnected from the module. Wires aren't broken or chafed. Cracked insulators? None visible but that's all I've come up with. Thanks

I just installed a Napoleon gas fireplace. I cannot get anything to respond. The module will not beep. Electrician to check the power. I have no idea.

You need to replace the batteries in the receiver not the remote. Should take 4 double A

Hi Desi, have you had a chance to have your fireplace professionally cleaned/serviced yet? Often times when we see the issue you're describing it's because the flame sensor needs a thorough cleaning or because the logs have shifted out of their normal place and are blocking the sensor.
