GAC just released a sub-compact crossover SUV that might just be able to follow the success story of the Geely Coolray.

the road presence is lowkey crazy, everytime I see them in my mirrors, both this and the emkoo stand out so much

Great review as always! I was actually waiting weeks for this review of yours knowing that you have the coolray. Have some questions (hope you have time to answer):
1. What would make you choose the GS3 Emzoom over your Coolray? (PADDLE SHIFTERS, perhaps improvement of ADAS, NVH levels, door thud sound, etc?)
2. Saw that you mentioned build quality of coolray over emzoom... what particular material/s in the Emzoom didnt' impress you? (Plastics used, leather material used, paint job, engine bay and chassis plastics/metals(???),etc)
3. GAC or Geely as a brand in general?
4. I've dreamt of buying the Coolray since Nov 2019 but when Emzoom came out, it was just love at first sight.
About to buy it in the next few weeks... Should I reconsider???

1. Manual shifting kahit na not paddle shifters. Extra NVH insulation. Door thud sound. General feel of being well built.
2. Plastics used mostly tbh
3. As a brand in general, Geely. As a brand in the PH, GAC.
4. For me, Coolray is still the overall win
Thanks Kyle! I've been waiting for this review. I'm saving up for my next car.. Included in my shortlist are GS4, Yaris Cross, Creta and emzoom. I've been checking the reviews..GS4 got the most good points from the reviewers and GAC after sales is good so far esp. in Pasig and Bacoor. But I also like emzoom bcoz the tech inside. My only concern is the ground clearance and the ride comfort as most reviewers say that it's more on a sporty side. It's still a long way to go before I test drive but for now...window shopping☺️
Get the Emzoom, unless you need extra space
Among your choices, Yaris Cross is my top pick.
You can adjust the sensitivity of the lane keep assist in the menu.

the drive mode option can be changed not only in the infotainment but also in the shift nob, just make a default for example(eco or comfort or sport)
then when press backwards once(drive mode) then press again to one up it. (when in eco and comfort it will go to sports mode when sportsmode is default it will go to sports+).
I really love this car, I got mine, Get yours now, in 1 month I got it to 1k km now, never had any issues, just need it to break in to activate the closed pipe it can be done by your 1st pms. or you can go to other delearship they are offering 1500 pesos for opening that pipe when pressed the button in the steering wheel.
I am getting mine this month. Can you give any feedback for this car?

Hi Kyle, great review, just want to say your signature door thud test is one of a kind ;) Just a question as i'm torn between emzoom rstyle and ford territory, you mentioned 6.9km/l in the city, was this an extensive test you did? as it looks like extremely low and comparable to territory. Thoughts on which is better in terms of fuel economy?
It is pretty thirsty as it is a high output engine, but overall, it’s about right for how much it outputs.
FE wise surely the Territory would be a bit better, but at the cost of power and dynamic driving feel.
Thank you for your review. Me and my wife is considering to get a new car and we are looking at this car. Compared it to other car within this segment and it's crazy what this car offers. Hopefully if stars alinged hahhah we will get this by end of the year.

Overall refinement and build quality is still better with the Coolray. High speed NVH suppression is also much better. DCT is smoother too with the Coolray
in malaysia it can beat so many japan car and china mostly with good pirce starting price from hrv 120+ thousand ringgit

How bothersome is the thin cloth cover for the moonroof on the R-style specially during daytime driving?
Not bad at all
I actually thought the same at first but surprisingly, it does not. The emzoom's a/c system performance is very impressive that pressumably radiated heat (not glare) is not a high noontime problem at all. With regards to glare, you do get a brighter cabin than those with conventional style roof liners but that's as far as it goes imho. If you wanna reduce the natural lighting a bit more, you can always have the sunroof glass tinted to the darkest shade you want with the best performing tint film your money can buy.

IMHO, in the base and mid variants, the emzoom really is lacking, but its R-style really pulls ahead of the Coolray.
I gotta try the other variants too
The Emzoom definitely edges out the Coolray in terms of ADAS.

This SUV has very aggressive tyres: 19inch and very low profile 45 series. If tested and driven at high speed over bumps and potholes, the result would be bent/damaged rims, tyre rubber shredded, front skirting scratch or broken. This testing is all on good smooth roads and highways, so no issue of this happening.

I think you need to be on Sport + for the variable exhaust to work.

The sunroof cover seems too thin. How's the insulation (without maxing the AC to compensate)? Also, have you tried the audio system? I checked the showroom unit, and using the factory settings, it doesn't sound too good.
Sunroof cover is fine. Audio is just about meh too haha but no complaints for its price
How about the audio system of the Coolray Kyle? Is it much better than the Emzoom?
The Emzoom’s audio is better
Heard from another review that they got the variable exhaust working in Sport and Sport+ mode.
Maybe the unit I got was faulty
@@KyleLiongCars the unit you got was not yet activated for it to work. :) Putting it here so viewers can know it's not faulty. It works on all modes except ECO.
you have to be at sports+ mode to be able to open the exhaust valve.

need to activate exhaust first by the casa.
@@KyleLiongCars i stand corrected. had my emzoom last december.. some units have their dual exhaust deactivated as default some have them activated already. just have your exhaust activated (Software) in GAC casa. can be used in comfort to sports+, but not in eco mode

Both are horsepower :) One is standard metric horsepower

Mas ok ang Emzoom haha malayo. I don’t see why hindi magiging okay for rent naman aside from fuel economy lang.
Hi sir Kyle. Pa suggest naman. I'm looking for a new car. My budget is 1.2m kaya I'm heavily leaning towards the Emzoom kaya lang sa 1.3m na range andaming ibang crossover na pagpipilian like the Territory, Yaris Cross, HR-V. Do you think it's much better to squeeze out 100k more for the latter or will I be okay with the top spec Emzoom?
at that price, I'd still go for the Emzoom or Coolray :D

Doesn't work. I saw soneone post a unit that works but most if not the rest doesn't. General consesus of the owners is that casa might activatebin on 1st pms.
The sunshade is very thin .. it's annoying to your passenger seeing those reflections/shadows from the trees while you are moving

Need to activate first the exhaust before it can change the sound
So we've heard. Unfortunately, the demo units from the distributor themselves all didn't have them activated as of filming.

Chinese brands have been killing it with their aggressive designs and tech. But why cant Japanese brands do this despite they got the most advanced techs in the world? 🤔
Because the Chinese brands now got some of the most advanced tech. Sometimes even surpassing Japanese tech.

Because we allowed them to. These Japanese brands have become so complacent to the point of thinking that we'll still buy their products even if they're not giving us enough value for the money.
Just sharing my experience.
I went to 5 dealerships yesterday. Nissan, Toyota, MG, Geely, and Chery. I'm really not particular sa EV or Hybrid set up. More on build quality and tech. I currently drive a 2019 Navara, so the obvious first choice is the Nissan Kicks and was really disappointed nung nahawakan ko yung Kicks it really looks and feels cheap. Especially the interior and the door thud doesn't sound right(parang manipis na lata, tapos tumatalbog yung pinto). The Geely Coolray has the best build quality among the 5. 2nd is the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro(awesome 10yr engine warranty and 3 yr free PMS btw). They also have more features for less money. Close 3rd, 4th and 5th is MG ZST, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Nissan Kicks, hence my decision to go for the Coolray. I hope to get my unit released this week.

Not even close. Bring your wife for an actual test drive and the comfort level is too far. Even a base variant coolray is far ahed vs raize TOTL (turbo). Try to touch and punch/hammer with hands the parts (plastic/doors/leather wrapped interiors) and you will see the ACTUAL quality (not some quality through rumors and myths) Toyota is now only leading in BADGE +PARTS + FUEL Economy. All other aspects they are FAR behind.
Raize is overrated, overpriced, and overhyped. It's nothing when compared to the Coolray or Emzoom. It's way too behind in all aspects.

Same as my wife until she got inside a Coolray. She can't stop talking about how it is waaaay better built than Japanese cars.

@@KyleLiongCars and I can’t understand why they are so aggressively installing a robotic gearbox on all cars. This type of gearbox is not the most reliable, especially when China copies models from German manufacturers.

The orange contrasts should go away, atleast for ME. maybe this can be bespoke, lik color of your choice. But the rest of the exterior looks best compared to leading brands, wow factor
