I used to be sentimental and even now when i see l moms keep their kids stuff i feel bad that i didn’t, then I remember i gave their stuff to other kids in need. 💕 love ur video
Yes, I should've probably gotten rid of more but they do play with those things so I didn't want to get rid of very much...just organize it better. Thanks!
So, this is really organized, but I can't imagine it will stay this way. A stuffed animal that your child is willing to regularly sit on in a bean bag chair is probably a stuffed animal that could be given another home. I would definitely go through the toys and games with them and have them pick their favorites and donate the rest.
SL my daughter has about 250 stuffed animals and wouldn’t dream of sitting on them and would be highly offended if I suggested it. 😂 tried thinning them out but she lost her mind. She was mopey for over a month listing who I abandoned and so I had to give them back. Rest of her stuff I could toss and she wouldn’t miss. I wish we had a play room tho
Great job Becky! Cleaning out rooms like that gives you such a sense of accomplishment!! Having a clean organized space is wonderful. I know your girls will appreciate your hard work. Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing your space with us.
Thanks so much Shanon! That room has been in the back of my mind for a long time now and I could never feel like the whole house was cleaned when I knew what loomed behind that door! lol My girls truly have been enjoying the space and the rediscovered toys so that makes all of the work well worth it! Thanks so much for your sweet comment and for watching!
this popped up in my feed after looking at several minimalist playrooms. I'm honestly shocked, I could not imagine my girls having so many toys which in reality they really don't need.
Wow, that's a lot of games and toys. I have that exact 4x4 Ikea shelf too, and when the toys are organized and put away it looks good. For 5 minutes. I would have decluttered a lot more than that. If the kids can't clean it themselves because it's overwhelming, it's too much stuff. One example, is, I say 3 stuffed animals per kid. My kids only like a couple of their stuffed animals anyway. The hardest part of de-cluttering is when it's only me who's attached to the item. And usually it's the stuff I purchased. PS don't save stuff for your grandkids unless you intend to keep it at your house. I promise your kids won't want it. Ask any millennial with downsizing parents.
I agree it sounds like she is just holding on to everything because its "sentimental " when in reality her kids probably won't give a crap about half that stuff! Also in my opinion she shouldn't waste clothes by cutting them up just to make a quilt.
Great job. It looks great. It's funny that you mentioned 2 things that you'd been given by parents and grandparents. The toy beds and the sewing mashine. The beds are going back to your parents and you said the sewing machine is not used much. You could have so much more room in you playroom if you didnt keep all those toys. I really dont think your children will thank you for them. However, if you keep 2 or 3 of each child's favorite toys and tell them the story behind why you kept if for them, i think they'll appreciate the items much more.
Even though I just did this room recently, it's since changed again and the sewing machine will be going back to my Mom's. She didn't have room for it when I filmed the video but she has since made room for it and she wants to keep it since it was her Mother's.
Thanks for sharing!! I feel like I clean up, organize and turn around and a mess has reformed behind me haha. Great job! We love toys too so right there with you!
We have two storage bins for the kiddos toys now, so every other month or so we swap out the toys. Kiddos have fun putting them away to make room for "new" ones. We also save clothing and other momentos, that's what my mom did as well. ANd who knew old halloween costumes make great dress-ups. Great video and very helpful! We donate as needed and for the most part their room has been much better organized since we started using the storage containers. Whatever works!
I love the idea of swapping out toys! Yes, we use costumes for dress-up, too! In fact, in recent years I've encouraged the girls to make costumes out of dress-up/old costumes we already have and they have lots of fun doing that! I'm so glad you liked the video! Thanks so much for watching!
Great job organizing, so nice to see a real before. It looks like it was a ton of work. and a lot of stress... The stuffed animals...so, they have stuffed animals they like to keep close (live in their rooms) stuffed animals they want accessible, but love to sit on or stick in a massive fabric garbage can (been bag and the zip up thing) and a third level that they want "accessible" but are stored like a sweater... and a fourth level of stuffed animal the miniature sized ones that hang on a door. Seems to me the "they" in this case may just be You wanting to keep everything for sentimental reasons...just a thought...you can keep them memory, by taking a picture. It will be much less stressful the next time all those carefully thought out bins get scattered. My mom kept my toys too. A handful would have been more than plenty. Plus the current toys are not made well at all, not like they used to be. I think you could have a good sit-down with each child and let them know that its ok to get rid of excess, and ask them, is there anything that you would be ok with letting go?. It will make it SO much easier for them to keep up. Imagine trying to keep every toy they get for the rest of their lives...it would be a mountain, and bins and bins to keep for the next 20 years while you wait for the grandkids to roll in. And you won't have to stare at a room for "45 mins" (love the crickets chirping).feeling overwhelmed. And you can't get back that week of cleaning a single room, but you can prevent this from reoccurring.
I know! I honestly think I'm to blame for the overabundance of stuffed animals more than they are! I am so sentimental when it comes to their toys and baby clothes. I have been doing better about going through their baby clothes and we got rid of some stuffed animals but it's definitely a process for me. :)
A Place to Nest my daughter is an only child and makes your children’s stuffy collection look like nothing . I try to smuggle them out (with the exception of a few) but she has an insane list in her head and will know who’s missing. If only she could use that memory for her times tables lol. She dosnt so many toys, just a lot of stuffys. We rent so no playroom, the shelves look so much more continent than a toy box.

Yes, having a playroom makes a huge difference! Especially if you have small closets in the bedrooms like we do. I hope you can move soon and get a playroom back! :)
Loved this so much. It can be so overwhelming to get a project like this done. It is nice to see other people tackle their own home room monsters Haha. I'm working on my 2 year olds room now and it is so hard to determine what to keep and what to get rid of.
Kudos to you for being real. We all have that 1 (or more:) spots in the house that we've let go & that's long overdue to be cleaned or organized. It made me so happy to see the little tykes table & little blue chairs~ my daughter had that same set & seeing yours brought back happy memories.😊
A Place to Nest I think everyone has that one part of their house that is a total organisational disaster. You should see my spare room. I need a week off and loads of emotional support to tackle it 😛
So, I was looking forward to seeing more of the actual cleanup process, like moving furniture, and more of the sorting, etc. And how much, or how many bags full, of items did you end up purging?
I had literally hours of footage and since my after tour was so long, I had to cut out most of the cleaning so the video wouldn't be too long. I ended up getting rid of about 5 or 6 bags of trash. I also have an entire basket of outgrown clothes that I took out of there.
Oh I didn't know where to start either. I just started making piles and then working through each pile until everything had a home. It was a pretty big undertaking! :)
Honestly, thank you for this video.. my play room just... no matter what gets crazy and is only clean at the most 3 times a year. This made me happy and feel almost normal lol
I'm glad this video made you feel better! I think most of us have those rooms that are disasters! Good luck in getting it organized and keeping it that way. That's the hard part, isn't it? :)
A children's hospital is a great idea! These toys look like they were very well taken care of, but with so many toys how many could they actually play with in a day or even a month?
Very nice job! However, I honestly think it might be a bit dangerous to have a treadmill in a playroom for YOUNGER CHILDREN, but besides that’s I loved this.

Our toy room is a disaster zone. We in the waiting process of a potential buyers bank to clear their purchase of our house, and I must admit I am very excited about a fresh start to organization.
I love your organization idea, I just need to get those IKEA furniture and I'd be all set. I truly get inspired by your videos. Keep them going, I hope one day you'll make a video of all the boardgames you have, I'm just curious to know them, you are a great person that gets the right toys for kids, I'd just love to see the games you have to possibly add some new ones to my collection. Also, have a question for you. How and what way would you organize the toys once your girls outgrow them and you want to make space in your house. I have 2 boys and a daughter and they have toys that they outgrown from but collected over the years but I'd like to keep for when they have kids. However, trying to figure out how to organize them, Do I label them by category bins (like games, action figurine etc...) and have a ton of bins around the garage or just throw them in the least amount of containers possible and be surprised when they open the container up, eventually and dont organize the toys or lastly do I have the child name on the bin to know this is her toys for when she has kids and want to see what I've kept and do a bin for the boys as well...what do you suggest? I'm stuck and my head hurts on thinking of what to do 🤯lol
Oh my goodness, I just remembered I never showed our board games! I'm sorry about that! I'll try to show them on my IG story sometime soon so you can see them. One of our newest favorites is Hearing Things. It's a really fun game for the whole family! As for the toy storage, I'm so sentimental and I really struggle to get rid of the girls' things so I keep almost everything for their kids. For now, we have several large totes...one that is just baby toys and one that is baby books. To prevent them from taking up any unnecessary space in your garage, I would sort them by type but in the fewest totes possible. Just make sure to seal them up well so bugs and moisture don't get to them. Also, don't forget to take out any batteries and wipe them off to avoid any set-in stains. I think your kids, and mine, will enjoy picking through them when they're older and choosing the toys that mean the most to them. That's pretty much what my mom did for my brother and me and what we didn't take home for our kids, she keeps in a playroom at her house. I hope that helps. :)
@@aplacetonest ohhh this helps me out alot, thank you so much. This was the first video of yours that I've ever watched. I mean no offense by saying it will probably be the last because you seem like a very nice person. I also have two little girls. I cannot fathom trying to keep that number of toys tidy and the stress it would cause all of us. It has been proven that kids with fewer toys have less anxiety and are healthier psychologically, as are their mothers! :)
That sounds like a huge job but you can do it! Just take one step at a time. I started by making piles of like objects and as I sorted through the room, I would add related things to the appropriate pile. Once I had all of my piles, I just started working with one at a time until everything had been purged, packed away or put in it's new home. Good luck! :)
Nice video but too much things for a kid... I’m sure she doesn’t play with most of the toys and she must have some favorite toys to play with every day. I think of taking of some toys as hide them somewhere e and let for her only few to play with then after 3 or six ... months give her the toys hidden before and hide the ones she has in her room, for the kids it’s like new toys, otherwise I like your video keep going and good luck

This is exactly what our playroom looks like, but 2× this size😱 lol. Thank for the motivation!
That sounds like a huge job but you can do it! Just take one step at a time. I started by making piles of like objects and as I sorted through the room, I would add related things to the appropriate pile. Once I had all of my piles, I just started working with one at a time until everything had been purged, packed away or put in it's new home. Good luck! :)
Where you get teddy bean bag?
Do you mean the pink one? It came from Walmart.
The whole point to see how you clean up and declutter not the after I wanted to see what you did
It's not very organized but if it works then that's ok..
I'm trying to give away at least a lot of toys because I have a lot of toys to
Nice video but too much things for a kid...
"umm."
Nothing about this is decluttering. You have enough stuff for 15 kids.
I can't stop looking at ur eyebrow one of then are crooked And I don't mean that in a mean way
Yep, it was crooked. Thanks for noticing
