    I wish I had found you years ago I've been using PSE for years, starting back around version 3, skipping two or 3 new versions before buying another. Glancing at my bookshelf, I see Version 9, 15, and 18. Relied on the "...for Dummies" books, but never really learning how to do most of what PSE is capable of Used Organizer for a while back around Version 15, but gave it up. Got PSE 2022 for Christmas, and resolved to make use of the Organizer. Shopped Amazon for a new "dummies," book, but ran across your training DVD's Came over to UA-cam to see if I wanted to settle for the book, or give you a try. You speak my kind of English. Watched this presentation, and will be ordering training set. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. About half of my photos (total of around 50,000) are scans of pre-digital pics, so the Metadata is based on the scan date, but my pics go back to mid last century. Not sure how to deal with that; hope you have a suggestion in the training aid I'm ordering. Now trying to figure out to enter this post on UA-cam, but nothing seems to work. I have subscribed, and created a UA-cam account, but ....

    Thanks for the video Jack. Much easier listening to you than trying to decipher Adobe's help or forum discussions which assume everyone is as knowlegeable as they are. Do you consult using remote software? I have made such a mess of my organizer catalog I cannot unscramble it even though none of the files are deleted. My catalog has consumed hundreds of hours of work and if an expert who knows where to look and what to do could get order into my catalogs I would be ecstatic.

      If you would like, we can chat about a remote session after school ends? I am glad you enjoy the videos.

      @@jacksphotoandtech Thank you Jack. This is probably the wrong place to discuss my situation, though I am quite happy for it to be used if it is helpful to others. I was not sure how to reach you privately, but if you can suggest a secure way I would be glad.

      @@jacksphotoandtech thank you. I'm not sure what you mean by school ends - I'm in Australia and up with American metaphores. Also not sure this is the appropriate place to deal with my stuff, but if others are helped I'm happy for it to continue

    Interesting video, thank you. I do wish though that someone would do a video that explained exactly what is happening with the photos. For example, are your photos being copied or moved to Irganizer, do they stay in one place, are they duplicated somewhere? Obviously the purpose is to not have multiple copies on your computer but still be able to access them.
    Also, it's helpful to know when you do something like create an album or keyword or category, what is the purpose of doing that? Explaining why something is done and the purpose of doing it sometimes is much more insightful than just telling someone how to do it. For example, some videos or manuals will point out a feature like "Create album" and say, "This button creates an album." I know that. Want I want to know is, what is an album? What does it do? Why would I make one? I hope this makes sense.
    Thanks again for the video!

      When you are photos to the organizer they stay where they are. The photo information is written to a database that stores the information of location and other items. I hope this helps.

    Can the software auto locate people once a person has been identified using facial recognition, or do you have to manually ID all people ?

    • @jacksphotoandtech
      @jacksphotoandtech  2 роки тому

      Once you tell it who is who it will find all pictures of that person. Even when you are importing new photos.

    I downloaded PSE 2021 and obviously made a mistake downloading my photos into the organizer because I ended up with over 11K photos. To make matter worse, I now have dozens of folders numerically titled with photos in them from my library but not in any logical order. Can I mass delete all of these photos from the organizer and start over without losing them on photo libray on my Mac? Also, is this issue one of the problems associated with PSE 2021? By the way, thank you for all your teaching, software and photography!

      Yes just delete the database file and create a new one which is the catalog.

    Thank you for your video. I am self-taught with Version 15 which means I've made lots of mistakes! I recently decided to improve my knowledge. I noticed the way that you added names and events was to begin with a right click? Is there a difference between PSE 15 and PSE 22 on how to do this. I usually use the keyword and tags in the right hand column for identifying pictures. Does PSE 22 still have this function?

    • @jacksphotoandtech
      @jacksphotoandtech  2 роки тому +2

      Yes you will still have those options using PE22. Self learning is a really good way to get to know the program. Thanks for watching.

    Since it sounds like you also use Smug Mug--I have a question related to both. I have been a Smug Mug user for many years and store all my photos in private folders and galleries there. Most originals are still in photo boxes but after a close call with a fire, they are all now scanned onto my computer to folders that were then uploaded to Smug Mug. I recently purchased the Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements combo for a video editing class I am taking online at a local JC (photo editing to follow in the fall semester).I was thinking of getting a head start with the Organizer before class starts. But does it make any sense to import these local folders into the Adobe Photoshop Organizer, tag them with names, dates, etc. when they are already organized in Smug Mug? Your opinion would be helpful since you know both products. Thanks!

    • @jacksphotoandtech
      @jacksphotoandtech  2 роки тому

      I would only do this if you plan to edit any of those pictures in the future? If I were just storing them I would leave them on Smug Mug and not pull them back down. Thanks for watching.

    I'm frustrated adding new place names in Photoshop Elements 2022, The program is automatically creating a second United States and State subfolder under Places in the right margin each time I attempt to enter a new place name. If anyone knows an easy fix or work around, your assistance will be greatly appreciated. I can't be the only person who is experiencing this problem. I don't know why the program doesn't automatically list a new city in my current US Place folder and subfolder. Thanks for any help or guidance you can provide.

    Have a question - I mistakenly saved my data base on my HD instead of my external - assuming that means I now have taken up twice the space on my HD, but not sure how I can move it to my external drive ? How do I free up that space on my C drive and move/back up to external HD ?

    • @jacksphotoandtech
      @jacksphotoandtech  2 роки тому

      You would have to move all of your photos to the external drive. Once this is done if you go under File you will find export database. You can move the database but I would recommend leaving the database. When you open Elements the next time you will have to tell the database where the pictures are located and it will reindex the photos. I hope this helps.

    How doe you get rid of all the duplicates that are imported?

    • @jacksphotoandtech
      @jacksphotoandtech  2 роки тому +1

      The only way I have found to do this is to select the first duplicate and then holding your control key select all of the others. Once everything is selected hit delete. I wish Adobe would come up with a way to search for duplicates.

    This is NOT what I see in my Photoshop Elements 2022. Mine does not have the organizer, just three tabs: Quick, Guided, and Expert .
    This video is therefore totally useless.

    • @jacksphotoandtech
      @jacksphotoandtech  Рік тому

      The organizer is a separate program that was installed with you Elements. Please don't complain because you don't know how to find installed programs on your computer.
