    I paint my nails daily. Whatever color the piece I’m painting is. I’m never embarrassed about my stained clothes and hands. It’s my creativity.

    I like the dabbing as opposed to the spraying.

    This is the BEST video I have seen using Dixie Belle Patina paints on a metal surface! And, I could not agree more on stippling vs paint strokes; gives it a much more authentic look for an old rusty, crusty, absolutely, gorgeous finish!! I’m going after a patina look for my farmhouse kitchen backsplash where I have corrugated roofing/steel. I’m trying to decide between Modern Masters, or the Dixie Belle Patina line, using green spray with both the iron and copper paints Haven’t found a video on that particularly, so, hmmm, maybe I’ll give that a go in the process. 😁Thanks so much, Amy for answering all my questions regarding this process and helping me decide on which brand to use! I’m super excited to see the end results! All the best! 👋🏼

    Hi Amy...I thoroughly enjoy your tutorials! If I am not learning something new, I am oft time learning a more practical or better way to achieve a desired outcome.
    I am 75 and as long as I am able to recall I have been “solution driven!” Watching your tutorial I kept thinking...there is an easier and more practical way to paint an patina those candlesticks that would also work well for lamps and smaller items.
    You might not agree with my solution or perhaps the solution might not have come to light. It would eliminate the need to get up and down and bend over ( back saver) to check coverage of the piece. The solution is simple, practical, inexpensive and effect. IT IS A TURNTABLE!
    I find that placing it on a platform and elevating the piece to eye level reduces the need for rubber-necking and reduces neck strain.
    Thank you for sharing your passion and expertise. The time and energy you invest creating your tutorials is genuinely appreciated.

      Thank you Barbara :) I do use a little LazySusan some times for little project, but I'm terrible about keeping my supplies in different areas. Painting can be hard on necks, backs and knees so any tips and tricks to make things more comfortable is always appreciate. Thanks again Barbara and I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day !! HUGS :)

    Ok I have a question.. can you use any color on wood for your base coat before the patina paint? Also I painted the base of my dining room table legs and used Gator Hide as my top coat, can I go ahead a use a copper patina paint and then the green patina spray? Oh my table legs are Sand color... Thank you!!!

    Why do you spray the bronze patina and dab the rust patina on and not spray it? Also how do I find your Face Book page? There is no link to it here? Thanks...!

    What is the purpose of a base coat? It doesn't show, does it? I don't mean the primer for metal, I mean on other projects.

    I recently used a chip brush when I applied a second coat on a project that I was painting and it started peeling off the bottom coat. Can you tell me why? Thanks

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  6 років тому +1

      Usually if your bottom coat is peeling up or chipping, it means your first coat didn't adhere to the furniture surface. This is usually caused by dust, depree, or something being under that area of the furniture piece not letting the paint adhere in that spot properly. Some chip brushes are stiffer than other, so if the chip brush can chip or pull the paint up in that area easier than a normal soft brush. If this happens, you can sand that area down a little to scuff up that spot, wipe it down good, and reapply your paint on that spot to fix it. No matter what brand of paint you use, your surface has to be cleaned very well (even if it looks clean, make sure you clean it anyway). If you are painting a slippry or glossy surface (like laminate or a high gloss) you also need to either scuff up the surface with a 120 or 220 grit sandpaper or prime it with Dixie Belle's Slick Slick, to give the paint something to really stick to. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have anyother questions or you can send pictures to my Ajsvintagedesigns@gmail.com email for me to see your project better. Thanks for watching .....HUGS :)

    Hi Amy. I used the copper patina paint on some bathroom cabinet doors but did not want to use the spray. Can I seal the paint with some clear wax? Then I was thinking of possibly using a dark wax over it, mainly in the corners and it has some grooves as well. Will it accept it, and if not, how do I seal it? Thank you so much in advance.

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  3 роки тому

      You don't have to use the activation spray, the patina paints are beautiful by themselves. They also don't have to be sealed. If you use waxes, just know that you may "dullen the sheen " of the patina paint a bit.

    • @barbaragolden3620
      @barbaragolden3620 3 роки тому

      fashiontoppings that's what I was afraid of, the dulling. I want to keep the sheen but want to add just a little something to complete it. Maybe I can just use the dark wax in the corners. Thank you for responding so quickly and answering my question!!

    I love the blue patina, TFS. BTW was that ur natural hair in the beginning of the video? If it is it's getting so long. Have a wonderful weekend even though it's only Thursday.

      Thanks Irma :) and Yes that was my natural hair in the beginning. I haven't had my extensions in for a while now (too hard to paint with the long hair ... it gets in the paint sometime...LOL). Thanks again and I hope your enjoy the rest of your week as well ...HUGS :)

    I did 4 pieces in the patina. They're not perfect but I love the look. I'm going to use them when I stage my furniture. Now !! What am I going to patina next.

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  6 років тому

      I know....patina is one of my favorite things to do now. I'm working on a night stand (brown wood with black wash over it and then I did a rust / iron / green spray patina to the top of it and I'm loving it. ) If you run out of furniture to patina, I did a patina canvas picture to hang in my bathroom....so the patina is great for canvas art as well. Thanks Gloria and Big HUGS !!

    I really miss your sewing videos...I have no interest in furniture redo .

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  6 років тому

      Sorry, my sewing room is 90% complete. I did a full renovation in the two storage rooms off my sewing room so my sewing area has been under plastic tarps to protect my equipment from all the sheet rock dust. I had so many complaints from people about hearing "background noise from my ceiling fan being on" due to the heat of the summer that it got a little discouraging for me when I did do a sewing video that I put it on hold for a while and then started the renovations soon after that. I delete those comments because I put alot of work in the sewing videos (they take an entire day of set up and editing) to then get so many negative comments telling me to do something about the "humming noise from the fan"....I can't hear it when I watch the videos, but some people really bashed me for it. I'm proud of my projects, and it kinda took the fun out of it for me when people would put such mean or hateful comments up. I hope you understand. I plan on doing a sewing project next weekend. Thanks for hanging in there with me and I promise to get sewing videos back on track. HUGS :)
