Aymen, having over 3 million accident free miles as a Semi driver and now being back into motorcycle riding, the key to avoiding wrecks requires 2 primary skill sets. The first is patience, especially in traffic congested areas. The second is discipline. You must discipline your mind to become alert and focused to the task at hand. You can view yourself as an amateur NASCAR racer or a professional. I ride my motorcycle like I drive my truck, time lights, avoid getting caged in, leave twice or more the recommended follow distance, etc. When the traffic clears and all other conditions are right, open her up and have fun, but no racing on the public streets. Leave that for a track day!

I'm 68 and have been riding Harley Davidson since 1974, I 100% agree with what you are saying. I find the older I get the less "daydreaming" I do on the bike because my reaction time is slower than when I was 25. I like the content of your videos and enjoy watching them. From Missouri keep up the good videos and I will keep watching. Keep the shiney side up. I started with a 1970 xlch sportster and am now riding a flhtk 2021 ultra limited 114. You ride a good looking street glide. Jack

"Stay ahead of your bike". When I was learning how to drive a truck an old timer told me to keep my attention ahead of the vehicle. Driving a truck is great training for riding because you have to look further down the road in a large, heavy vehicle that doesn't turn or stop as good as a car.
So, don't be "in" the truck or "on" the bike, be ahead of it.

I did a Stay Upright advanced motorcycle course in the mid-80s. At that time, I was riding the Z1300. I learnt quite a number of ways to stay alive on the public roads and to minimize the potential of being injured. And here is one of those ways which I was not only taught but I have also imprinted in my head when either riding or driving which has proven to be a life saver over the years - when riding or driving, 'Expect the Unexpected'.

I have ridden my bike several times from Atlanta Georgia to Las Vegas Nevada but it’s been a while. A nice 4 hour ride here in Texas really relaxes me but, lots of idiots and gremlins to watch out for! On my se one Harley now. 2018 electraglide ultra limited and enjoying my best life!

Covering the brakes, rear brake peddle and front brake lever is comforting. But depending on the situation, panic breaking is still possible. For example, if one is not anticipating and is cought completely off gaurd.

I trained myself to grab the front brake in a emergency because my British motorcycles controls are on the opposite side from my other bikes. This saves me from stomping on a shifter instead of the brake. 90% of braking power is the front brake anyway .

    Nice one Aymen. 😊
Looking as far ahead as the eye can see, then bring your focus closer the check your mirrors. Then repeat. This helps perceive potential hazards and avoidance before they are an issue. Also be aware of your peripheral vision all helps. IPSGA! Service drivers have used this system for years - should be taught at driving lessons 🤷‍♂️
    Safe rides 👍🤜

Big thumbs up for the channel...
In traffic...I watch for brake lights as far ahead as possible, cars changing lanes etc, and always watch for an out to avoid the situation...
I have noticed that friends that don't ride will stay in a lane and have to slow down, when I would have changed lanes 100's of meters back and avoided the slow down completely...
Never ride in the center of the lane if you can not see the center of the lane ahead, to avoid any debris in the road...

I have a few simple tricks or mantra that help me get caught back up to the present moment or stay in it while riding:
    1) I tell myself "shut up; think, don't talk", and that's in reference to the internal dialogue. Stop narrating or conducting shower conversations. Ohmmmm (or whatever). It comes back and you have to shut it down in order to really be in a neutral state where you're ready to react.
    2) I tell myself "head up, eyes up", and that's a beginner technique to keep from looking yourself into the ground, but these days it just resets my vision to the road horizon so I can resume scanning and perceiving peripheral movement and sight distance for adjusting speed.
    3) I tell myself "shields up, scanning", and that's about resetting the defensive posture and alertness to incoming threats, be they deer, birds, dogs, pedestrians, intersection, bogey at six o'clock, cop ambush, thunderheads forming, traffic kerfuffle or crosswind affecting cars ahead, open lane pattern, temperature in the shade possibly approaching freezing, oil slicks, potholes, gravel, leaves, cliff drops you'd rather not fall off of, or wire fences you don't want to fly through and cut yourself in half (maybe slow down, eh?).
    4) I tell myself "stop and smell the roses", and that's about pulling over and giving your brain and body a rest and a reset before continuing. It's mentally exhausting to remain alert and it's physically tiring to ride a bike if you don't have the perfect seat and ergonomics, which is rarely the case. It's also an opportunity to make sure your axle nut isn't backing off, chain isn't suddenly too slack or needs oiling, tires aren't damaged or too worn or wearing strangely, lights aren't caked with bugs, and you're not leaking anything or trailing smoke. It also feels great to get back on the bike after getting off for a bit. I can go one hour straight and then I'm ready to go home or I can go 6 hours by doing it 30 minutes at a time. It's not efficient traveling, but the entire time I'm on the bike, my brain is engaged and alert.
I hope this helps someone with managing their mind and their ride. For a more complete system including a lot of good crash analysis and a first-responder's take on rescuing yourself and others after a crash, check out DanDanTheFireman's channel, dude is always on point.

you go straight to H E double hocky sticks Mr. man. there i helped the channel.
when im looking to throw miles down my favorite way of cruising is 70-75 on the hwy in the right hand lane or on a co. road if i can avoid the hwy.
on the hwy you can observe peopke in their cars doing all sorts of shit. plus i travel with a big dog and everybody wants to film her, which can be dangerous. so laying back and watching the world struggle for first position is way more relaxing. plus with a 17 year old dog our long days are only 6- 7 hundred miles in a day.

After 50+ tears of riding and being a safety instructor for a decade or so, I completely agree with training for reaction. However, the most risky thing that I ever see motorcycles doing is shown a couple of times in the video, and that is lane splitting. Coming up between cars, with no escape route, and infringing on their legitimate space is incredibly dangerous and irresponsible. The car have no idea that you are entering their space and passing them, don't look in mirrors before drifting back and forth in their lane, and quite frankly, get pissed because of what you are doing. I understand the desire to go faster, we all have it, but you don't get on a crowded highway with the expectation of going fast. Go find an empty road to do that.
