Yes! Not enough teachers emphasize the legs being in front of you (making the coordination of the legs impossible to correct!). Great video, concise and vital info!
I'd love of you did a video on brise, please. I'm really struggling with these because for some reason I can't get my feet where they're supposed to be as quickly as they should... and I find your tips really helpful.;-)
Your technique videos are super helpful! Thank you for them. Also I have a question: I have taken classical ballet classes my whole life and now I am adding on a modern dance class. However, I have a lot of trouble relaxing enough to properly execute the technique; I can't seem to break out of the rigidness of the the ballet forms - my whole body tenses up. I go rigid like a board instead of "rolling" fluidly though movements. Do you have any pointers that could help with this?
Hello @Kathryn Morgan Thank you so much for all the amazing tutorial videos! For me that is beyond amateur those are so so helpful! Especially your basic videos are fantastic - i have learned so much from the plie and arms videos. Therefore I wondered: Could you do a basic video about : 1. arabesques- i never know where my arms should be and how to get this leg up high 2. Attitudes - i never got the proper position of the leg Thank you so much in advance for reading this and for always being so inspirational ❤️ Best wishes from Norway 😘
Hi, I really need help.. Recently, after a year of training in contemporary and teaching myself ballet (of course we used ballet basics in contemporary classes) I joined a serious ballet group. Tougher teacher, serious training. The thing is, that somehow, I never feel confident when I take her ballet class. She lets me do easier stuff, even though I know I can do just as good as the rest of the group. I feel like she doesn't care about me, I lost my confidence.. I'm pretty sure she thinks I can't dance, even though I know I can. I don't know how to prove her wrong.. I feel clueless. Please help? I just don't know how to prove her that I can..
The only way to prove that you can do something is to do it. I'm sure she's not giving you easier stuff to be demeaning, but because ballet is HARD and it takes so, so, so much time. No matter what kind of natural ability you might have, it takes tons of practice, and even the most advanced dancers can benefit from going back to the basics. Don't think of it as a bad thing. Take the time to really work on your technique and focus in on the things a harder combination might cause you to forget if those basics aren't fully instilled. If you get to the point where the modifications feel too easy, and that's you and your body being honest with yourself, not jealousy kicking in, then go ahead and try the harder combination. If you do it right, she won't stop you trying again. Your teacher wants you to improve. She's not trying to hold you back.
Emilly Zalayet I don’t usually reply to anything but... I go to a tough ballet studio.. I like being pushed but, my anxiety takes over so, I feel like I’m doing everything wrong. I feel you! But I love ballet and I’ve been doing It since a very young age.
I think if you feel bad at the ballet school, you should leave and find a better place for you to learn ballet. Ballet is a beautiful dance that can make you feel happy to learn. Learning ballet should be enjoyful. Learning process must be bittersweet. And the learning environment is so important to your progress. Stay away from those teachers who are not inspiring and not couraging. It may be harmful to your growth. Try to find another ballet studio. There is always a place for you to stay well.
Pas de Chat is easy. Even I can do it. Probably not perfectly, but at least I seem to do the most important things correctly. I think it's the first technique from her videos I can do relatively well.
I haven't finished the video yet and after the first two tips I tried doing it and I think I look much more lite and graceful

Happy worldballetday! 😘
I will be doing this more often since I miss my tabby cat.
Kate oh my god your body looks sooo amazing!? What companies are you auditioning for?
What if you have to end in fifth position after every pas de chat?
Does anyone know what type of flooring this is?🙂
Rhiannon Kelly Marley
when are you going to make another music video
Katie, you're losing weight so quickly! Is it on purpose? Can we expect a ballet company's contract soon?

Solar Wind uhhmmm (show off)
To add, just because YOU can do it doesn't mean EVERYONE can, some people are starters and they might not know how to do it
Can you add subtitles? My English is bad
I really hate this step haha
