Easily the best tutorials for Smith/Murray solos. Thanks for taking the trouble to film this, tab it and share it.
Thanks for your comment!
Nice! Always had trouble picking out the diminished-sounding lick that Adrian usually changes for live peeformances. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. Btw this kind of lick is also in the beginning of Dickinson Road To Hell solo, so typical from Adrian
So grateful there are guys making videos like this, helping others to play solos they thought they'd never learn. You make it look so easy in slow motion. Thanks dude 🤟
Awesome.
I urge anyone who hasn't heard it to check out the rare US promo version of this track, with extra vocal harmonies by Bruce. I wish that version had been on the album.
Thanks!
one of the best build ups ever made
Great tutorial. The degree of clarity is stellar.
Thanks!
Thaaaaanks for sharing tabs!!! Best regards from Barcelona!
You have the best solo toturials on UA-cam dude i learned so much from your videos keep it up
Dude your playing style reminds me a lot of Brian May, like the way you hold your pick and move your picking hand and how your fretting fingers move as well. Its really cool, you play like one of my favourite guitarists while playing my favourite bands music.
I neevr noticed that. I guess I shoudl play with a coin instead of a pick now ^^
Really useful and accurate tabs man!!! Greetings from Barcelona!
Thanks! You're living in a great city! I went there a few times to go to Bcn Rock Fest \m/
This is the Way!!! Excelent Work!!! Thank you!!!
Thanks!
Amazing solo, I think that Smith’s solos are more interesting than Gers’s and Murray’s soloing. It’s melodic, shreddy and kinda bluesy, just love it! And I think that Smith is really better at “serving the song” than others Maiden guitarists
100 % agree!
agree since young listening heavily on Iron Maiden I intuitively liked Adrian's solos the most, even though at that time it was not super easy to know who was playing what exactly!
I've always liked the way Adrian's solos add to the song and don't go off on a tangent with loads of unnecessary notes,.. Adrian has always been more of a songwriter than Dave or Janick and it shows in his solos a top top musician he is.
Fine job, and thanks so much! You're a good man!
Thanks you
very well played.Great lesson
Thanks
2:02 damned phrase! It's taking me forever to learn it!
holy shit man sounds great
Well played! Subscribed.
Thanks!
nailed it
thanks
Clean performance, great job!
Thanks!
Awesome video. Great now I have to learn this. Lol. Not enough time in the day. Been working on Hell Bent for Leather this week. My band wants to cover it.
Thanks :D
Very well played and showed... (even with no description) Congrats pal!!!
Thanks!
Short and solid. Thanks!
Great job and always perfect sheet music, Thank you!
Excellent! And really helpful to see the tab as well.
Salut Steph,
Merci !
Absolute DYNAMITE!!
Great job man! Thank you so mutch!
Thanks!
Wow amazing job and thank you for this!
Thanks!
This is great! Thanks a lot for the effort and sharing all that stuff! Keep Rocking! \m/
Thanks!
You sick man🤘
Thanks! \m/
every Adrian's solo is a song in the song 👍
The Wicker Man ! Je m'attendais pas à celui-là ! :D
xD
Merci pour le partage, super qualité !
Do you make your own backing tracks? They're amazing
Thanks. I made most of my backing tracks. When I don't make them, I use the isolated tracks from the collaboration covers I did in the past.
@@StephLeGratteux ah ok. Thanks for the reply 👍
Merci !
Pre-solo: 1:14
SOLO ADRIAN
Part 1: 1:53
Part 2: 2:02 - 2:11
Part 3: 3:28
Part 4: 2:21
Post-solo: 2:30
Fantastic tutorial! Even though there are some obvious mistakes like the B: 17-19-21, which should be 17-19-20
This is very strange because I remember thinking that note was out of scale (and also it would have been easier to play the lick with the 20 instead of the 21), but this was what I heard on the original... So I played it that way. And tonight I just relistened to the original and I heard a 20 and not a 21 😄
parfait ca ! Ca m'a beaucoup aidé merci !
Great lesson! I have the official Tab book of Brave New World album, but I think there are a lot of mistakes in The Wicker Man's solo.
Thanks!
How did you get the tab?
@@Br4m76 i found it in a music Book Store many many years ago
thanks for sharing.
Cool mec !
Ça me fera gagner du temps lol
Merci :D
Many thanks my friend!!!
You're very welcome :D
Hey thanks
the part around 0:40 is awesome but it's definitely NOT what adrian plays. i can't find the video (it's what brought me here in the first place) but he showed the "trick" and it's deceptively simple
I think I have seen that video and what he showed is the live version of the trick. I play it at 3:17. Btw he also used that kind of lick in Dickinson "Road To Hell" solo
StephLeGratteux EXACTLY THAT! Thanks, I couldn’t find it anywhere! Are you sure it’s not what he does in the album track anyway? It sounds more like it
StephLeGratteux I stopped watching before your “live version”, my fault... :)
@@markuso1862 I'm 99% sure the album version is played differently, with those diminished chords arpeggios. I use a program to slow down the songs, which helps to figure out how the fast licks are played.
I've been wondering this: what's your opinion about Janick Gers?
A very good video btw, thank you for the upload :)
Thanks. Jannick is the guitarist I like the least in the band, many of his solos sound a bit strange and unpredictable (but he also made some great ones like the ones on Como Estais Amigos, Blood Brothers or Wasting Love for example). I like more the guy on stage though, he's a real showman :D
Awesome , can you do wasted years next???
Thanks. Sorry, it will be only #6 because #5 is already done :D
Tnx bro.
Awesome!!!
Thanks!
Ok in one of the licks (2:22) doesn't the 22 fret goin into major sound a bit weird. I've never noticed it before listening to the song but now when I slow it down I kind of hear it too. I don't know anymore. Is my mind playing tricks on me?
You mean the 21? I think it sounds weird too, but as it was like that in the original, I play it like that. The other times, the 20th fret is played and it sounds better because not off scale (I truly believe it was a mistake in the original and they let it like that lol)
Please dont hate me, - but did you get this from the tab book, or figure it by ear? - I've seen in live shows he plays the part at bar 25, by holding 2 on the e and hammering 4-0 on the b; then moving to 3e/5b; then 5e/7b; and 7e/8b... - Not sure if he changed this up after many years and you've got the studio-version, or if it's just your preference.
I play the studio version but he always plays it differently in concert. I think you should have watched the video until the end as I play the live version at 3:13 :p
So I finally got around to learning this had some time over weekend. Pretty much have it. Only issue I'm having measure 25-27 can decide if it should be legato with hammer one from nowhere which sound sloppy when I play or alt picked.
I play every first note on the B string with the pick, it's not from a hammer on from nowhere.
+StephLeGratteux ok thanks. I ended up just using the live version piece you post in its place. Thanks again for this.
Top ! Obrigado!
Thanks!
C'est propre 😀
Great!!! Thanks for this vid.
Thanks!
I learned wicker man's solo and hallowed be thy name too, and i am still asking this question, what gear do you use to record maiden solos?
I use a M-Audio soundcard and Guitar Rig 3
what do you think is smith's best solo?
Hard to pick one. This one is one the best, Wasted years is one of my fav too. And I like a lot the ones from Caught Somewhere In Time or Stranger In A Strange Land (I think Somewhere In Time is the album where he was the most inspired)
yeah i agree those solos are my favourite too
but i'd defenetly mention paschendale, bruce's man of sorrows, empire of the clouds and when the river runs deep
he seems pretty inspired on book of souls too
Tears Of A Clown has a great solo too, probably my fav from TBOS. I don't know much Bruce's solo carrier, I don't even know on which albums Adrian or Jannick plays :o
jannick is sole on his first record tatooed milionare, adrian is on accident of birth and chemical wedding along with roy z
you should defenetly check thoese records with adrian and roy, they are amazing, on par with maiden's best
Thanks, I will
Show!!!!
Adrian sinistro demais 👊🏻☠️
Merci ! C'est vraiment cool... Tu pourrais faire Caught Somewhere in Time un jour ?
hey bro could not download gp5 file is there any chance you still have it? thanks
I just tried and the link still works
@@StephLeGratteux i managed to download, i learn it then ill tag you once i finish learning. cheers for the upload.

StephLeGratteux
Hi here it is i could not do it 100% this is my best attempt
ua-cam.com/video/2o8BHz3kE7o/v-deo.html hope you like it
Been having trouble trying to play that last quick section of the solo, i never know when it is to hammer on or pull off or if it is to pick everything
There are legato symbols on the tab when you have to play hammer-on ou pull-off
@@StephLeGratteux yeah yeah i can see that, but i always get confused on where i have to hammer or pull off when I'm playing at normal speed, need to go slow first
@@claudiusruthven1231 Yes, a slower speed is the key. I almost never start to work a solo at full speed (unless it's very easy)
i love you
Top, mec!
Merci !
salut.
de solo de THE WICKER MAN.
As-tu des conseils à me donner. Merci! P.S. T'es fort...
@@coeurvaillan Merci.
Could you share the backing track?
It's in the video description
bpm?
You have a particular interest on Smith's guitar sound, Don't you? I mean... I've noticed you have a Jackson like him and the most of your covers collab you perform Smith's solos
Yep, he's one of my favorite guitarists. I don't have a Adrian's Jackson, it's a Charvel pro mod San Dimas but it fits great for that style
You play Smith's parts very well. But you have one Jackson. Don't you? That colorful guitar you used to play Futureal and many other songs.
2:11 Now this..
🔝🔝🔝
How do you get your guitar tone.
I use Guitar Rig 3
Salut Steph,

What witchcraft is this ?
Salut Steph !
At minute 0:38, does a person have to have Parkinson's disease to play?
