Hey Lauren! As an aspiring surface designer, these videos are so helpful and loaded with nuggets of wisdom! Thank you for taking the time and sharing your expertise on the subject! By any chance, do you offer training courses? Thank you so much!!
Hi Haileen! I'm so glad you're finding them helpful. There are many more videos I'm planning to create so please stay tuned. :) I am also working on creating some Skillshare classes as well as my own course, but it is quite a lot of work so it may be a ~6 months before I can have it 100% completed. Right now, I'm still working full-time as a textile designer and am in the middle of wedding planning! Much love to you and best of luck!
@@LaurenLesley Thank you for replying! I will definitely stay tuned! I am looking forward to your classes on Skillshare when the time is right. :) Thank you for your positivity! Stay Fly!

Random question.. but how does Spoonflower make its designs on fabric? What do they use to do that?
Hi Katalina! They use a digital print on fabric. :)
How would you advise someone who
Is just starting and does want to watercolor ?
Hi Elvira! Thanks for your question. I love watercolors, but I don't work with them regularly. If you want to make a pattern out of watercolors, scan your artwork at 300 DPI and create your repeat in Photoshop. From there, upload the high res file to Spoonflower for a fabric with a high quality print. Best of luck! 🤗💖

How did you get your design into target? Did they just pull you off of Spoonflower or did you have to promote yourself?
Hi Linda! It was so exciting to see my designs in Target. I worked as a Senior Textile Designer for a company who makes private label home décor goods for lots of big retailers. That’s probably the easiest way to see your designs in-store! Other avenues are through licensing, buy outs, and working with an agent. I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching. 🤗💗
Hello!! Lauren, my name is Karla Rodríguez, and i was wandering if you know if there any studio of patter design or textil design that hire Remotely?, i will love to work remotely to lear more about this industry. Thank you!!
Hi Karla! There are ways to be a pattern designer remotely, but a lot of it will require you selling your own designs on sites like Patternbank. Another way is to exhibit at trade shows and sell full buy-outs or license your pattern designs. This route, however, can take a long time to get going. For example, if you license your designs you might not get paid for 1-2 years when the products hit the shelves. That's why it's good to also be doing freelance work to supplement your income.
Companies do sometimes allow designers to work remotely. It really depends on the company. In my experience, however, it's better to work in the industry for a few years first. That way, companies know that you are a talented and reliable designer. I am getting freelance work now that I would probably never have gotten if I didn't already network and make strong relationships while working in the office.
Best of luck to you! xx

How much does it cost to print your own fabric?
I'd recommend looking at prices on Spoonflower. The cost will depend on your substrate and how many yards you're ordering. 👍
If we order fabric,do they ask for money or not?
Siddhi Walwekar Yes I think you still need to pay for it
Yes, they won't print your fabric for free at Spoonflower since it is a printing service. However, if you sell it on Spoonflower you can also earn money.
"Hey, What's up fools?" Quit listening at this point. shame on you.
Lol, this was meant to be playful language! A few British followers explained to me that this was very offensive in England (it's not in America) so I have quit using this phrase. My intention certainly wasn't to offend anyone!! Much love to you and please accept my sincere apologies. Happy Sunday! 💖
