Because it is about Russian women, you need to understand her message to them and how it is connected to her staging. They went through different times, from traditional life (folk beginning) then, soviet time (her outfit is a soviet-era full of feminism and woman being workers and men dying in WW2 with the chant about fatherless kids). Then she made a message about other's opinions on her appearance and she doesn't take them as an offence but makes her own decisions about what she wants in her life. This can be seen as empowering and liberating, but it is quite deep for women, and especially for Russian women, to remind them today, they are very strong from all the hard times they went through

Even if it's just folk pop and not entirely folk music. So I don't care if this gets played on the radio, and I hope that we will keep hearing some folk elements every year in Eurovision in the future as well 😊 Спасибо россия! ♥️
Oh, thanks, such a relief to hear good commentaries about gorgeous queen Manizha! I've read and heard a huge amount of critisim about her and her song, but this is not just a song... THIS IS THE STATMENT! Being a woman in Russia is difficult, because you constantly feel the pressure from the patriarchal society. And she represents a bold and open-minded woman with saved cultural code (folk motifs in vocals and folk costume items). Although this song is major and upbeat, I was crying during this performance, cause I was so proud to be THIS Russian woman. P.S. Manizha has participated several times in discussions and public talks about the problem of domestic violence in Russia. I hope that her trip to the Eurovision Song Contest will give publicity about this terrible and acute situation in Europe.
.....it’s also a problem here in the USA and Europe. As someone who comprehends a decent amount of Russian, you’re just painted an overly idealistic picture of the west in non-state media.
There is no nostalgia to this song, the lyrics are all about the expectations Russian society puts on its women. It's really clever actually, and I think many Russian speaking jury members (and Russian speaking audience) will vote for this.

Don’t compare in to Бурановские бабушки or Little big (even though I personally love them). This song is deep, meaningful, strong. It’s about women’s power. And I love it. Even if she won’t win this will be my favourite Russian participant and favourite song.
*I am Russian and I am extremely happy Manizha will represent us in Rotterdam. It's quite the bold and risky choice, yes but the song is unique at the same time. She shook things up a little bit in the Eurovision community and that's a good thing going into Rotterdam because everyone now knows who she is. This is a great moment for us to take a break from the schlagers and songs about peace we've sent for so long*
First time i heard it i was like oh no
Listened to it again and i am OBSESSED 🤩🤩
UNO’s effect)))))
Omg same
*Russia, how would you like your staging?*
Manizha: *Yes*
I love the sheer amount of native languages this year. Denmark, Ukraine, Albania, now Russia! ❤️🇷🇺🔥
Also France, Italy, Croatia, Spain :)
Serbia.
The UK :-P
The Netherlands a bit too,or more specifically there's bits with a Creole language
@@tedverse5726 Australia :)

I love this omgggg... this is my 12 points from Czechia.
This reminds me of the entries we became accustomed to hearing/seeing in the 2000s. Bonkers! It's what makes Eurovision such a great viewing each year. I'm loving all these throwback revival beats this year.
This doesn’t need a revamp. Juries love to reward the most plain, dull garbage. Hey 2019.
We don’t need Eurovision artists chasing Jury votes. She’s amazing and so original and bold.
Couldn’t agree more! Hey 2019 indeed 😂 good I wasn’t alone with that. This song is incredible!
❄️
Yes.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT NEEDED TO BE SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just ADORE this entry!! Definetly my favourite this year 🇷🇺❤️ good luck Rossiya ✨
William, there's a reason why Julia Samoylova didn't qualify, and it is because it was awful. I agree that this song is not for everyone, but I sure hope it will qualify (it is one of my qualifiers) and I'm so happy to hear some Russian!
I feel sorry for Julia
Cuz her live stage was terrible and she barely made eye contact with the camera. The viewers clearly didn't connect with her. The studio version was actually good but this is ESC we're talking about 😟
She didn't sound well at all and seemed too shy inside that messy staging… I felt very sad for her, the song was beautiful. :(
This is an anthem not only to the Russian, but also to every women. Irrespective of difficulties a real women enlightens with love. This is a really powerful song. Go Manizha. Spread your word!
Well said!
"I don't know what she drank, but i'll take two" 🤣🤣👍
This is strangely stunning. It's UNIQUE. I love it.
I love the fact I could understand some words in Russian😂My 5 months of study of the language so far have repaid me
What word was that? :-)
@@xxxyyy8779 Русская женщина = Russian woman
@@geminislorenzo well done then and good luck with it :-)
the song uses many dialectical and folk pronunciations. It is very well done that you could understand some of these
@@cereal_killer9266 No, I don’t think so. I still have to study all the verbs, adjectives and the 6 cases. I still don’t have the basics to understand more complex sentences so I really wouldn’t make it at the moment
This can be seen as empowering and liberating, but it is quite deep for women, and especially for Russian women, to remind them today, they are very strong from all the hard times they went through
👏 totally agree with every single word
Good luck from Moldova 🌼🇲🇩
The song is phenomenal!! Go girl ❤️
This is very good!!!!! Love from Lithuania!
What??!!! What?!!! 1

She’s weird but I love it! she’s so charismatic! I hope they’ll do a great staging :)
Omg I just loooove the Performance! It’s gonna be tough to compete with such an energetic singer 😍
I’m really obsessed with this song!!
I’m putting this as my favourite to win, along with Italy, they’re both very original but this is such an epic song, don’t understand a word but her power and stage presence is pure class 👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks for your reaction guys. I have my country in my top 5 for the first time in my life since 2002. I'm so surprised and happy 😭
Thank u for your amazing reaction for our bright and talented Manizha :-) We very appreciate your openion and so hope that Manizha will take a good place :-)
Love this reaction, guys, very thorough, very much on point, very respectful. Great job, overall!
Much appreciated!
Love love MANIZHA!
It's madness but it's absolutely compelling and I love the anthemic traditional parts! This is when the hot mess works...unlike Australia does for me. Well done Russia! Well done Manizha! Well done Russian Woman! I'm giving my top points to San Marino and Russia this year! Deban got this thank God. William- FAIL- seriously William- drink some Vodka cook up some Russian Borscht and feel it!
Great message, unique presentation. Russia always deliver to be remember it.
i know the song feels weird but if you listen to manizha thats her sound lol and i love it its a mix of all she is and loves. i just love her sound so i dint even realize someone would consider her messy and stuff lmao
Deban have you heard her song Недославянка (Nedoslavyanka)? its about her ethnic identity and struggles to embrace herself (it sadly doesnt have eng subs).
Недославянка is such a fun and bright song. i mean the beats are very catchy. i really love manizha's style
@@sant_vauls yessss i love how she can have something fun and upbeat like Недославянка and then something soft and pensive like Сейчас дважды не случится, and the lyrics in both have a strong message

Manizha is awesome singer and we proud of her

I feel like her winning was a great excuse for William reminding us he was at Julia Samoylova’s birthday party - beautiful name-drop 😂
😂 😂 😂 I was just explaining where I met Manizha! Otherwise it'd be like "how the heck did y'all randomly come into contact?"
@@Wiwibloggs At ESC William or in the Press Room at the ESC Parties- it would not have crossed anyone's mind as to how you may have come into contact. At a personal birthday party of another Russian star is a huge name drop. Next time make sure you invite all of us to attend with you, then it will be a normalised matter.
I'm living for what Deban says 😊🙌
Amazing! I Vote and betting for russia this year love from sweden
I love it !! Russia is definitely in my top 5 !!
Oh, guys, I love your reactions and discussions so much! I signed up for you last year, and the Eurovision Song Contest has become even more interesting for me!
Even without understanding the text, you have understood much more than the Russian audience.
I hope Manizha will get at least in the top 10...
All the h8rs from Russia , you are so worried that Russia will look weak and not "Russian enough" ,yet you are condemning beautiful lady who express all the energy and power of Russian women. Stop being so fogging dramatic and self-conscious and accept your charisma and authenticity !!! Manizha rocks!!!
This performance is criticized not for being "not Russian enough", but for being anti-Russian.
Best Russian entry since I started following Eurovision, bar none. Manizha deserved to win this 100%!
@@elveon939 Nope, 2018

I agree with our guys again. It's messy, but there is a story and her voice is a strong one. I hope she's a shock qualifier for the final.
♥️ loving your reactions guys! You did quite a research too! Wow! I love this song more and more everytime I listen to it. So proud we're represented by this strong woman this year!
this is so freaking goodddddddddddddddddddddd
my fav so far!
Love this performance from russia. Greetings from austria
I don’t know what she drank, but I’ll take two 🤣 lol, greetings from Russia ☀️
Love it!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I agree that it's not a commercial song, like you said, it won't be played on the radio - BUT I'm glad that we don't only have generic radio bops in Eurovision. There's nothing wrong with a great pop song, I mean... Fuego was... FUEGO 🔥 Eurphoria, hello! But I just mean that I think it's great that we also have organic, traditional folk music as well! Even if it's just folk pop and not entirely folk music. So I don't care if this gets played on the radio, and I hope that we will keep hearing some folk elements every year in Eurovision in the future as well 😊 Спасибо россия! ♥️
Woow❤❤❤😍😍😍
This song is Samanta Tīna level weird, but it's a bop! 💕
I can't wait for Samanta's song!
please don't insult Samanta with such a comparison lmao
Wow guys! You felt the song's meaning without understanding the words💪👏👏👏
Russia winner ❤😍
This is art
"The Russia Cardi B" yeas! She is!!! She is the queen ✨
Deban what a great statement... You sold it for me..
Thank you from Russia 🥺❤️
What’s interesting, is that Manizha knew that she’d be going to Eurovision in 2018 when the vote was held in March 2021!
"I think that vodka had some coffee in it"
No revamp needed !
Russian woman wins on International Women’s day I think this could do ok but the western sound is strong and rich! 🇷🇺
Love it! Catchy and quirky.
