- A Swedish hymn 'Du som gick före oss’ by Sven-Erik Bäck, filmed at St Davids Cathedral, Wales.
It's based around a melody which uses all 12 semitones of the octave, and is no. 74 in the standard Swedish Psalmboken.

Du som gick före oss
längst in i ångesten,
hjälp oss att finna dig,
Herre, i mörkret.
Du som bar all vår skuld
in i förlåtelsen,
du är vårt hjärtas fred,
Jesus, för evigt.
Du som med livets bröd
går genom tid och rum,
giv oss för varje dag,
Kristus, det brödet.
Du som går före oss
ut i en trasig värld,
sänd oss med fred och bröd,
Herre, i världen.
Translation:
You who went before us
deep in anxiety,
help us find you,
Lord, in the dark.
You who bore all our guilt
into forgiveness,
you are the peace of our hearts,
Jesus, forever.
You as with the bread of life
goes through time and space,
give us for every day,
Christ, that bread.
You who go before us
out into a broken world,
send us with peace and bread,
Lord, in the world.
Helt enkelt utmärkt. Och som andra har redan sagt är uttalet perfekt.
I live in Sweden and was pleasantly surprised by this performance. This piece is rarely sung by the congregation, it's more often played on the organ (I think) . I've never heard it in a choral arrangement. Whoever helped Voces8 with the Swedish pronunciation did a fine job!
I have performed it as a bass many times in Sweden. It was popular 30 years ago.
I sang this in a church in Stockholm many years ago.

Almost agree. But they pronounce Kristus wrong, it's "Kristus", not "Kristås". That said: Great singing, as always!

En svensk psalm av Sven-Erik Bäck, rätt ny, som dock sjungs i svenska kyrkor. Ja kanske mest av körer, den är ju rätt svår med sina tonväxlingar. Men den har häftat vid oss och blivit lite av en del av den svenska psalm-skatten. Kul att Voces8 sjunger den, med sin svenska, som är den svenska som engelsmän sjunger, ändå tydligt uppfattbar.
