Did not know about that fade-curve option, that's great! Also, when you chose not to macro level-down the loud notes, I was happy because it was exactly my intuition too.
You are a wise "Melodyner" (maybe the wisest), man! I don't use the software not very much because due to my ignorance the results were quite unpleasant. But slowly thanks to your videos I am loving Melodyne more and more!
Wow Rich! This is great and it will be a huge time saver for me. I’ve used clip gain extensively in the past. This should speed my vocal processing up quite a bit.
Hi Rich, I guess the track separation you showed in the end works in ARA Mode, for non ARA you first need to re-transport the sections into Melodyne, right? I love your video tips btw!
I was hoping for a more automated "vocal rider" but the technique shown doesn't seem to be better than manual riding. I think it would be more useful if Melodyne offered a way to not vocal ride sibilants, and to offer a threshold for sounds that are too low in volume to not be effected (to avoid raising bleed and breath, for example). I also wish there was a lot more to say about about the actual dynamic tools in Melodyne, which I always forget are there. Still one of I've my most used plugins for many reasons.
I agree with @bigstewdio...Who knew? Not me either. This is such a good video; so well explained. I missed you last month when you were in Toronto; didn't register in time; should have known better. I use the Leveler macro all the time. One of the ways I use it is to even out the choral voices (oohs and aahs), but I only go about halfway on each slider. When I first started with it (when it first came out), I thought I'd heard some artifacts when moving the sliders all the way on both sides. It made me worried that I shouldn't use it 100% on both sides. Now I'm thinking that it may have been the file. So I'm going to start using it fully on both sides now. Although I find that halfway on both sides works; bring lower things up to a point and then louder things down to a point; certainly sounds better. If there's any reason why I shouldn't do it this way, let me know what I'm missing. Now to get into the Amplitude Transition Tool. Thanks for everything.
I had to stop and restart the video 4 times to see where the leveler macro is. You just zoomed up and clicked on it and I did not see the mouse move. I completely lost the the thread of what you were trying to do. I have been watching all your videos because, even though I have been subscribed to Studio for years, I never use it. It just seems too complicated and I can never seem to figure out what to do when I want to do something.
While this is a fantastic tool, I honestly preferred that she went a bit quiet at the second part (before melodyne processing). Sounds more 'real' lol. This vocal isn't generic mainstream pop where every word needs to be super audible and have almost 0 dynamics.
Honestly the dynamics of the example presented sound like misuse of a compressor. Especially the attack stage of the envelope. You can get better results with compression if you know what you're doing. Having said that, it looks like a unique tool for the job with which you can tweak vocal dynamics in a different way from what's out there and hopefully find new mixing techniques. I think I'll check it out.
0:40 "This is done currently with clip gain and automation". That's a pretty deceiving statement. Many vocal riding plugins exist including the one in iZotope Nectar and Waves Vocal Rider.
Melodyne = User Interface and workflow from the 90's ... this damn app is so complicated and ugly with SO MANY hidden features. For the price, it REALLY needs a modern update from talented UI designers. Dark mode at the VERY least ... it's almost 2025, sheesh.
Thank you! I've been a Melodyne user for 20 years, and I still learn something every time I watch one of your videos.
Exactly!
I agree completely!
You are the best. No matter how many years I’ve been using melodyne, i always see something new in your videos that I can use immediately!
Always happy to teach new Melodyne tricks. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
This man is without any doubt one of the most clear and effective teacher out there. Thank you so much, I appreciate your calm and precision.
Excellent tutorial. Thanks.
I really appreciate these videos that teach advanced techniques in Melodyne. Thanks!
Thanks, your very welcome!
Love your videos. Straight and to the point. I learn something new every time.
You, Sir, are a treasure! Thank you!
Thank you - there are tools I've never used before - this is one, but thanks to your video, I will be using it in the future to save work. Wonderful.
There’s so much more to explore. 🙂 Thanks for your comment!
I use Melodyne for a long time and I realy love your videos because I learn something every time!

I have been using this for sometime now and Its a recommended process I want everyone to use.
Nice work Rich!!

Great stuff, Rich.
Great video!

Great stuff, always learn something new from these tutorials - cheers!
Excellent info
Thank you, very useful!
I love, love, LOVE Melodyne's Macro's! If I'm editing pitches, I like adjusting dynamics and sibilance as well when I'm in this mode.
Very handy, isn’t it? 🙂 Thanks for your comment!
🔥 Another great video
Thank you!
@celemony you're welcome
I’ve been doing this for years 💯💯💯.
Faster and easier than “clip gain”.
Ps: I’m a Pro Tools user.
Good stuff!

They should make a section of chapters in Spanish. but with someone who explains just like the great Rich Crescenti.
Have you tried the automatic translation in the UA-cam player?
Thank you.
Great vid !!! I wish Apple fix the ARA functionality soon in Logic, really miss it!

"Amplitude transition tool". Who knew? Not me - many thanks
Great to see it’s been of some use to you. Thank you!
Dark moooode!!!
DARK MODE PLEASE !!!!

There’s no right or wrong with the Leveling macro. Whatever sounds good to you!
Technical note - when you're demonstrating the macro controls, they were offscreen due to cropping. 😕

wow people can STILL find new ways to remove the natural feel from vocal performances - WOW just wow
I've been in blob college for the last week.
😎

It's an audio application. Not a video game, boy.
Get out a new version with improved UI workflow already
How so? “Dark mode”?
Cmon bro, this is an editing tool-not a toy.
Stem Separation Tool when?
Why does Melodyne need to do that? There are plenty of other programs for that
The hack with the two blobs over each other is golden 👌🤌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 thanks for that.
