I’m just starting college this aug 28 and I’m choosing Psychology since it does some thing to do with brain which related to what I wanna be (neurosurgeon)
I'm doing a Biomedical Science's BA with a minor on Business Management. I want to be a Pediatrician, but I also want to create my own pediatric clinic and I would like to be able to manage this and be good with money so I can make it true!
I’m freshman at community college and I’m choosing medical assistant since it does some things to do with help people which related to what I wanna be (Nursing)
I’m a premed and I’m majoring in biomedical engineering many people told me not to major of Biomedical Engineering because it was too hard but I really like this subject so I decided to major in it and it is paying off
I am currently a second-year medical student and I double majored in biomedical engineering and applied mathematics. As long as you enjoy it, I would strongly encourage you to continue with it! It is undoubtedly a challenging path but I think it was worth it for a few reasons. The first is the overlap of required coursework and medical school prerequisites (I did not take any extra semesters or gap years), the second is that in any ABET-accredited program you will be required to pursue a design project in senior year which can get you a poster presentation or a research publication, which will improve your application for medical school, and the great career option in case you lose interest in medicine or are not accepted. Good luck!
I’m a premed and majoring in medical laboratory science and I love every second of it! Although I do have to take on extra courses to meet all the prereqs for med school, I wouldn’t change my major for anything!
So you're saying I can Major in Computer Science and still take med school pre-requisites and apply to med school? I'm passionate about both disciplines.
Yes, but your GPA is likely to be lower than someone who cruised through as a psych major and you’ll lose against them in med school admissions as a result.
Go for it! Your computer science background can definitely provide a unique perspective (AI to help with faster reading of medical imaging? EMR systems controls to prevent errors? Likely many more). And if you decide not to go into medicine, you have great career options in computer science as well! Good luck!
My plan is to do pre med and then minor in Spanish and Korean since it can be helpful and I also really want to learn the languages. I’m very grateful for this video since I wasn’t sure what major was best for me
I struggled for a minute trying to decide if I wanted to stick with my chemistry degree or switch to psychology. I came to the conclusion to stick with chemistry because many of the prerequisites for medical school are in my degree plan so it makes sense for me to stick with this instead of taking the psychology route and having to do all the classes for that on top of the prerequisites for medical school. I don’t know if it is like this at every school but at my college there are prerequisites to the prerequisites LMAO. So it makes sense to me to just focus on the science classes rather than add on psychology classes as well. I am planning on minoring in psychology though
Neuroscience is in some way a blend of biochemistry and psychology. I just finished my first year of college am deciding whether to study biochemistry or neuroscience. I understand though that some schools don’t offer neuroscience as a major
@@vanep7724 just make sure to make your schedule around the requirements needed for both psych and pre med. And if you can choose your schedule as a freshman, go for general chemistry first. But most importantly, don’t pressure yourself too much based on unrealistic standards. The sooner you understand this, the better you’ll do, but you still have to be on top of deadlines. As long as you like what you’re doing you’ll be fine, good luck! You’ll do great.
How do you find the classes that you need for med school since there are many different schools? Does your counselor have to approve of those classes or do you have to inform them that you wanted to do pre-med
@@natoooop Do a little research on the schools that you think you’ll apply, they should have a pre-requirements list on their website. I hope that helps
BSC. Biology My classes starts from 5 Sep at KPU Canada, my high school subjects was bio, chem, phy, english and physical education but no math. Now i am getting difficulties as registering chem and phy require math prerequisite.😭 Please suggest something
Any major would be fine if you are willing to put in the extra work to take the premed classes as well. Just keep in mind that if your major is not science-related, you will be working a lot harder than your science-major friends.

Hi! normally you shouldnt work in medical school, many medical school will discourage and or might even not let you work due to medical school being like a full time job this is why you should focus on a major that will get you a high mcat score.

That’s amazing!! I’m a music therapy major 🎶🩵🩺

Pre-med in biomedical engineering, I think the extra courses will help me stand out as more well-rounded competitor

Easiest premed majors: biology and zoology. Problem is if you don’t get into med school you can’t get a job. FYI: premed is not a major.
What about biochemistry?is it easy to get a high gpa..and does it really prepare you for the prerequisites..and can i actually do computer science
not in college yet but i’m planning on anthropology
Can you do a video about hematology plz?!
Any possibility of a “so you want to be a med-peds doc”?
I have a BS in Management Science (Finance) and Bio Engineering. How much are my chances? Will it affect my application?

Can you please to, SO YOU WANT TO BE A SONOGRAPHER?😁
Nice video
just don’t pick biology-related major. It gives you no diversity. Pick music, computer science, etc. the more irrelevant to medicine, the better.
Not good advice. Picking something just to be different isn’t really going to help.
