Hey med school insiders! Your videos have encouraged and given me so much confidence to chase my dream of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon, thanks so much. I'd like to request, if it would be possible, a video on motivating yourself to keep reviewing flashcards over time, not just making them, then procrastinating to study them per schedule. I've been facing this problem lately and I really would appreciate some guidance, because thanks to you I discovered the power of spaced repetition and active recall, but I'm not able to use them like before but when I did they proved super effective. Thank youuuuu!

hey Dr Jubal, can you talk about MBBS programmes? especially since it combines premed and med school into 5 years i wanted to know how different it is compared to an MD programme, as well as the pros and cons. I'm doing MBBS right now in the Caribbean (where I'm from) and I'm planning to go to Canada to specialise.
Don’t say yes to every request. Most of us have a deep need to be liked. That translates into us saying yes to everything - which is the end of your elite productivity.👍
It isn’t a bad thing 💀. Many people put the need to help others above themselves, and that works for them. Obviously do not say yes every single time, but I notice most ppl draw the line eventually.
@@choblgobblrr1074 It can be a VERY bad thing. Like they said, some people feel pressured/obliged to be a “yes man.” It’s necessary to meet your own needs to be able to effectively help others. No one wants a sleepy surgeon.

Good, I only now (over half way through my senior year) realized medicine is something I want to pursue. Me too! Here in Germany your high school grades directly determine whether you get accepted into med school or not (you can take extra tests similar to the MCAT, but they are voluntary), so I need these tips desperately for good grades haha And as he mentioned for the sake of improvement on its own.
I hated online school so much. We weren't able to review tests or quizzes even after the test closed so I was never able to see my mistakes and learn from them.
In part of the video you talked about how a good use of energy with work is important. I’m looking into the surgical field and was wondering if my current work method would still work. What I do is make a weekly bullet journal, then look at everything assigned so far. I rank what I have by time and difficulty and divide them in groups of 3 or more per day. This tends to work and has allowed me to get straight A’s plus finish an online class several weeks early.
4:-00 was really me. i`ts like a habit to me to check my wrong answers after my final score. sometimes my answers on my test paper are actually correct after i confirm it to the textbook and sometimes ended up being perfect. Atleast i am not the only one who learn through it, its either my classmates or my teachers. I don`t really care if my classmates always calls me competitive, it`s not bad being a competitive person as long as it can improve myself and other people around me.
Great video! Just a suggestion it would be great if you made a video about Medicine verses IT and talk about there compensation, lifestyle and pathway in education!
Just a suggestion but, Can you do more “so you want to be..” videos on more non doctor medical careers like Respiratory therapists, Paramedics (flight ones would be cool), RNs, the various other types of technicians and therapists, etc....

Think about it, how many people what to truly associate with someone whose only discussion topic is medschool, who is sleep deprived and depressed?
Hi, very interesting and motivating video. I Wanna know your opinion about studying in headphones with light instrumental music - like chillhop or classical ones
Hey I’m having some doubts about trying to pursue family medicine. It’s pretty early for me to be thinking about this (High School) but I need some advice. I really want to pursue medicine but I’m not able to study, I’ve just been relying on my previous knowledge to get through school and I’ve been fine. But with medicine I know I can’t do that and I need to study, but whenever I try my mind always races and I’m probably the biggest procrastinator of all time. Basically I just wanna know how I can help myself prepare so that I don’t fail. Thanks for any help :)
Hi! I'm also in high school right now and up until a year or so just managed to get by without many efforts as well. What helped me were many of the other videos Kevin has made, just take a look at some of his most popular videos (anatomy of a good night routine, study less study smart, from study zero to study hero, etc...). What I did then was transforming his useful knowledge into notes and reminders, because at least for me it was always loads of new information and many points that needed work. The best advice I can give is: Take your time, go step by step, and acknowledge tiny improvements. By the end you will know whether you are capable of improving even more and pursuing a high intensity program like medicine :D Good luck on your journey!
I feel like it's easy to give out all this advice but some people just don't have a natural intuition to figure out testing strategies, for example. The way testing in school is conducted doesn't seem to work formany people and causes them testing anxiety. Some people have mental health issues that they have to deal with every year in college, they can't pursue even the things they enjoy because they are so depressed all four years of college. I wish this channel showed the other aspects of the education system like the fact that white men are far more likely to entered school and be successful in their academics because we live in a systematically racist society. I would love to see this channel talk about these topics or share stories of minority people or people with chronic mental illnesses.
