@@COASTALWAVESWIRES Just built one today and will take it to a park soon. It is interesting that the SWR values differ so much in @timg5tm941 and your experiments where the only difference was the amount of counterpoise wires (and of most likely different ground). I went for the 6x5m version. Let's see what it shows in my case. GD DX OMs!

Hi Walt thanks for the video. I built mine last week. The tip is approx 9m above the ground hanging in a tree with 6x 5m radials. Utterly blown away. I managed a QSO on 10W into Germany on 10m band (55 both ways) 9850km from my QTH. Happy new Year. Best 73 DE ZS6AKW.

Hey Walt, just build my first Rybakov 806 Vertical using a T140-43 with 10 turns of 18 gauge magnet wire, a BNC Female to Dual Banana Female Socket Binding Post, 26 foot vertical element, and 4 radials about 12ft each. I taped the radiating element to a 33 foot Spider Beam. Picked up contacts on 12, 15, 17, 20, and 40 meters all reporting 55 or better up and down the East coast and out to California from Michigan. The 4:1 match was perfect for my Xeigu G-90's internal tuner. You were spot on when you said this is a great antenna. I will be putting the Rybakov and my 40-10 meter EFHW up for winter field day. With a vertical and horizontal both performing so well I'm sure to have a lot of fun working stations all over the US and beyond.
Thanks for the videos you've been posting, I began my HF work prior to you tube and struggled with getting a good antenna in the air. You and all the others who put the time in to bring new ideas to the table sure make a difference to the Amateur Radio Community. Thanks for all you do, 73 AD8MP, David.

So coincidental Walt, after a 2 meter rag chew net here around Clayton NC, I got a call from k4sdv, after mentioning the trusdx on the net and he mentioned the Rybakov antenna. Then he said he had a qso with a guy in Hawaii that was qrp on the beach using a vertical with a counter poise dropped into the salt water that amplified his signal. I said that sounds like Walt k4gog, he was in Hawaii a while ago, he came back with, is he out of Virginia Beach? I said yep, that's him! I turned him on to your UA-cam channel. built one of these recently, though mine's a modified version. In the Dec. 2013 final edition of his Monitoring Times magazine, Bob Grove W8JHD mentiones what he called "best and cheapest shortwave receiving antenna you’ll ever need" which was 24' of electrical cord or speaker wire with 5' removed from one side. That's what I'm using for the radiator, so I call mine a Bobgrovakov. I only have room for 2 radials which are around 7m long facing roughly north-south. I'm RX only for the time being so I have no idea how or if this thing will radiate, but it works great for receiving. The other day on FT8 on 20m I got every continent except Antarctica.

The property here has some shortcomings that makes putting up decent antennas difficult at best. Small House, Small City Lot, No Trees, not even ONE. Single story home, but stand up attic so most of my antennas are dipoles in the attic, as in 6-20 meters. I have tried 30 and 40 and as long as I can get them working once I fold them around corners etc, they work but not great. Luckily I had a shorter painter's pole I was able to stick out the attic window and point it upwards just enough to get just enough height from the ground to the top of that pole. But no way to get a much bigger pole out that window so can have 80 meters as well. HOWEVER the 4:1 unun I used was from my original S9 vertical I bought years ago, and at that time I also bought their 80 meter loading coil. Would that work on this antenna? So I grabbed it and stuck it in the rest of the mish mosh, SWR on all bands 6-80 at less than 1.5:1, using an autotuner of course. 80m signals I'm hearing are nice and strong, sounds hopeful. Bands are not in good shape here, and hearing lots of people complaining about it, so I know it's not the antenna. Tomorrow will give it a shot and see if it's transmitting as good as it's receiving. If it is, I think I'll use the money I've been saving to buy a store built vertical to buy a bigger pole and run this antenna in the yard instead of in the middle of my driveway! I need to go buy groceries soon and hate the thought of taking the antenna down and putting back up just to buy groceries. Thank GOD I'm not married!!

But Unless i am at a park doing pota i do not have a lot of space at all to do a vertical with ground radials. You are very fortunate to have the yard to play with. How big a space did this antenna take up, like 15 ft diameter or so? Have you tried using a window screen as a ground radial field? Very small and convenient and apparently works well. Hi how are you today?
I had a lot of beams. I sold everything when I moved house.
Now I start all again but I will not spend a lot of money in antennas.
Do you advice any good vertical to be my principal antenna? I made a T2LT for 10m
Now Im looking for 20m . A multiband will be great but Im not good to build antennas.
    Thanks in advance
