Thanks so much Dr.D for such a great dry eyes school you made over the times, it is very helpful information for us and really relief our suffering of our irritated symptoms, truly appreciated
I get distressing dry eye attacks in my right eye alone, within minutes of consuming even small amounts of refined flour (in pastries / bread) or sugar (in confectionary), but usually after months of dietary lapses that see me let sugary stuff creep in again. It's like my liver reaches a no warning tipping point and boom, I'm vulnerable again. You could call it "carb eye syndrome". The ophthalmologist I attended described a degraded tear film but never said a word about diet; instead it was all about applying an optical foam and then, if that wouldn't work, he wanted to do some kind of laser surgery on my eyelid. Needless to say, I decided not to go down that route!
I’d very much like to see the Sjogren’s video you are planning. I have severe dry eye due to Sjogren’s. I had successful cataract surgery on both eyes but the great results did not last because my eyes are so very dry. Very disappointing, to say the least. Thanks for these informative videos!
Fish oil makes me SO nauseous so my pharmacist recommended what he takes, which is krill oil. He said put it in the frig if that made me sick too, however I take it unrefrigerated just fine. Regarding water intake - I hate water. My mother who lived to 92 drank water all day, & the first thing she consumed in the AM was a full glass of water. Her skin looked amazing even at the end of her life, & she never had dry eye.
Dr. D, wanted to ask if you’re familiar with algae oil supplements - have you ever recommended them instead of fish oil for people who are either vegan or have a hard time tolerating fish oil?
Nordic naturals makes these and yes I sure have. I used to live in Asheville NC and many of my patients were vegan. It’s been 5-6 years since I had a patient on them but they did work well.
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD I guess both if possible. I have it from meds..& I want to preferably be able to keep it at bay or find a solution without having to add more meds. A video would be so appreciated if you have time 🌷
Your body can only absorb water into your cells at a certain rate, so consuming large amounts of water first thing in the morning just means more trips to the washroom 😂
thanks for the info. never knew that rosacea and dry eyes are tied together.

Great info on the omega 3s! I think I will add a supplement to my diet. Thanks!
Interesting details about the omega-3, thanks!
Maqui berry extract and borage oil are also something you should consider.
Thank you I’ll look into it!
Great Video! Do you recommend anything else to specifically treat the red eyes that are a result of dry eyes?

What eye lid cleansing product do you recommend? Great video! Thank you.
I was instructed by Ophthalmologist to use baby shampoo
I like Blephadex foam eyelid cleanser-has tea tree oil and coconut oil.
Thank you, this was a great video and helped clarifying lots of stuff!
What about RX Lovaza fish oil for dry eyes?
My dry eyes burning sensation is ok in morning but get worse at noon .why?
The edit in the video was done wrong... 7:25 that DOES show the amounts and looks like PRN. Later in the video it is also missing a picture.

I use the Nordic Naturals or the ones from Spectrum.
I tried putting fish oil in my eyes, but it makes it difficult to see.

In terms of diet? Or in general? I can make a video about Sjogrens considerations in dry eye!
