This is a true first-hand story. I was just on the tail end of producing and finishing Engelbert's new album and it was our last day in the studio. Engelbert had been working all day and it was now midnight and the only song we had left for him to sing was "If You Love Me." Knowing he was leaving the next day for Europe and we had a deadline to complete the album, I knew we had to finish that night but Engelbert's voice was completely (or so I thought) shot. I knew he was struggling with this last song, so I walked into the recording booth, after having told the engineer to turn off the mike, and I told Engelbert the entire story of how and why this song was written (see below). He had no idea of the song's history and was truly touched by what he now knew was the message. I went back into the control room and had the engineer turn off every over-head light, both in the studio and the control room. There we were in total darkness, the music started and Engelbert weaved his magic. He sang the song from beginning to end in one take and gave the most masterful and dynamic performance ever; which you will hear on this video. And now the spirit of this story is brought back to life by legendary singer Engelbert Humperdinck, with the help of the magnificent voices of the Waters Family, arrangement by Jimmy Haskell, and produced by multi-platinum and 2x Grammy nominee record producer, Joel Diamond.

Edith Piaf and Marcel Cerdan became an overnight tabloid sensation in France-a celebrity romance that captivated both mélomanes and boxing fans alike. The love of Edith Piaf's life, the already married boxer Marcel Cerdan, died in a plane crash in October 1949, while flying from Paris to New York City to meet her. Cerdan's Air France flight, flown on a Lockheed Constellation, crashed in the Azores, killing everyone on board, including noted violinist Ginette Neveu. Piaf and Cerdan's affair made international headlines, as Cerdan was the former middleweight world champion and a legend in France in his own right.
