- Today's Stock Market correction had me looking up the current value of some of my most cherished records. Let's Go!!
Pick up my brand new Steely Dan T-Shirt (Babylon Sisters) or maybe your own Valedictorian Pennant and help support the Channel!

A quick correction on my LZ II RL / I have the Columbia Pitman pressing!
Mine is Monarch variant 7 in VG/VG+ condition.
Don't worry about single day market drops. You are in it for the long haul. See--you're already back!
Nice. Selecting and sorting by "medium" value often gives a much different picture than "high". As tired as this exercise is, I might need to do this. It's fun!
No emergency selling!! Great top pics, that DMM white album wasn’t on my radar. Oh and it looks like the market made back most of its losses today😅
Cool video, Tim. I'm going to do my most valuable list now, too😎 Thanks for inspiring.
Right on!
Hi Tim, these videos are always interesting and fun. On my weekly podcast with Jim Gleason we did this a couple weeks ago, fun exercise. My Zamrock album really packed my top 10.
Oh boy - that Led Zeppelin 11 is incredible ! Well done on that find 👍
as long as you keep them they are all worth the same...even if some are more precious to you...when you try to sell you'll notice that it isn't that easy even to get your money back 😄
Really cool! ❤
hang tight. LONG TERM!
Thank you Gordon Gekko. 🤑🤑🤑🤑
@@marcjohnson9270 Gordon Gekko was not a long term investor. So he is not the example you are providing....
you sound like my financial guy
My original copy of Mirrorball, played only once and in its original shrink wrap, still has its "Tower Records" sale price sticker $7.99 on it.
Damn! Nice - I should’ve bought vinyl in the 90s but was all in on CDs
Very nice Tim, you investment Guru you! 😁
I wish!
Glad I bought The Cars Rhino! Missed BS though
I wouldn't pay a blind bit of attention to Discogs valuation. It only reflects what people are paying on their site. At the end of the day records are only worth what people are willing to pay. There are always folks with more money than sense paying over the odds.
Nice! I really need to go through and do this with my collection. 😎
Who are we all kidding...most of us are not selling anything! LOL
🤷🏻♂️ true. true..
This video gave a new meaning to Invest in Vinyl! ;) Thanks for your awesome videos, UoV!
Awesome! Thank you!
When it comes to the Stock Markets ups & downs you have to ride it out. ☝
✌🏻
Fun way to get around a low hanging fruit video!! HA! 😂 love it.
Not too long ago I catalogued my vinyl collection of ~2,200+ for the first time ever, the bulk of which I purchased during the 1970's and 1980's as new releases. At no time did I ever think that they could conceivably fetch on resale anything above the $6.00 to $18.00 (Cdn) that I paid for each and most likely get much, much less come the day.
Turns out my most valuable is a 7" single from an artist from my hometown, with a median value of $650 (USD). The next nine, including another 'local' from here in Canuckistan and all lp's this time, descending from there with the 10th tapping out at $170.
Needless to say it was a nice surprise to learn of, in an Antiques Roadshow kinda way, with no expectations
Love it!
Never done one myself, but I guess it might include VU&N OG, the three Nick Drake UK OGs, Beatles Mobile and mono boxes, and a bunch of 50s jazz and jazz vocal OGs.
Impressive!
Love record exchange. I go there everything I visit my mom
I’ll just quote another VC popular You Tube member who once said Its the music stupid!!! The stock market is long term so I wouldn’t freak out!!!
Buying low, selling high - the American dream! Some choice pieces on this list - the Presswell Ludwig surprised me; always thought those were big bucks. Vinyl on, Tim! ✌🏻
Upon further review, my RL is a Columbia Pitman - still an incredible listen!
Your collection mirrors the stock market? Say it isn’t so!
No! Only one in my top 10 is down! 😜
@@Universityofvinyl I loved your intro warning! Remember these accounts value is most relevant when we need the $$$. We have been in a soft recession since inflation hit…. The “experts” just don’t want to say it out loud
You might want to toss those PVC outer sleeves - over time the chemicals in them can leech through the cover and affect the surface of the vinyl - causing both a foggy haze on the surface and affect the sound.
Unfortunately some records use the clear PVC covers as part of the original sleeve design, so if you need to keep it, store them away from the rest of the collection!
These are top of the line Vinyl Storage Solutions sleeves, not the old, bad ones you are speaking of. I did trash many of those in the past. vinylstoragesolutions.ca
@@Universityofvinyl Oh that's good to hear. Nice collection!
Thanks! 👍🏻
Just Amazing I have a vinyl copy of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon 30th Anniversary in near mint condition bought hear in the UK for about £20 can't believe the price you quoted I'll have to look my copy up and thanks for a great video
4%. We lost 12%. LOL. It’ll be back.
😇
It won’t be back if the Dems get in.
Keep voting blue and all you'll have are your records.
Thank you for weighing in
Nothing wrong with that. Remember, it is about the music!
