    Hi Richart. Did you try the Panasonic 1.4 TC with 100-400mm? if so, How does it compare to the Olympus TC 1.4? Secondly, if you put an tube extension between the camera and the TC 1.4 + 100-400mm , would that allow to use all the way zoomed out to 100mm? Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing this video. Thats a great find. I was wondering about the technical data in the images shown. Are you sure at 400mm with the 1,4x converter aperture still is f6.3? Should be rather f8, since the 1,4x will drop the aperture by one stop.

    • @RichartAsia

    I tried this hack with the PL 50-200mm lens. When I tried to remove the plate, the pair of contacts (which I also see in the video on the 100-400) remained stuck to it. Those contacts ate also tied to the lens with a small cable. How did you deal with this?

    • @RichartAsia
      @RichartAsia  8 місяців тому +1

      my plate has no contacts tied to it and the contacts are screwed into the frame so nothing to remove. flex cable is pushed in when TC is inserted just like what the back plate does.

    Hi all, to be complementary to this article; note that the MC-14 can be made full compatible with Leica 50-200 f2.8-f4. You just have to cut a small plastic ergo with a cutter (15mins work by doing this carefully) on the TC-14. As you know lenses which get a back lens not enough inserted in the body make them incompatible to the x1,4 or x2 teleconverters so the two manufacturers protect their teleconverter to avoid mounting them with incompatible lenses. The issue is that the way they protect them is not the same and so a panasonic lens optically compatible (its backlens is very well inserted in the body even at 50mm) can't be mount on the Olympus one (I didn't do the opposite but I guess it's the same :(). It's very anoying besauce M43 standard should permit it (red flag to Olympus & Panasonic there). But with this trick (cutting the ergo ) it becomes full compatible and autofocus and IBIS are full operationnal. As the Olympus TC is usually far cheaper than the panasonic one (again .. I don't know why) it's time to buy Olympus TC-14 :).

    • @paulomateus3083
      @paulomateus3083 2 роки тому

      This is great info, I whish I could find a video or photos of how to do this. The only problem is that if you want to sell the Olympus MC-14 won't work on a Olympus anymore, I guess....

    • @philmtx3fr
      @philmtx3fr 2 роки тому

      @@paulomateus3083 not at all the ergo is just a protection to avoid mounting incompatible lens to the adapter but the compatible ones will fit . It s just less « safe » if we can say so but usually people using an extender are quite cautious and know there are limitations for lenses with proéminent back lens so for me it s not an issue :)

      The Leica will take the Panasonic TC. There are special contact pins in different places on Olympus and Panasonic teleconverters for their TC compatible lenses. The Leica is only fully compatible with the Panasonic teleconverters. Shame, but there you are.

    • @philmtx3fr
      @philmtx3fr Рік тому

      @@jeffslade1892 Yes it can be resolved in 15 mins by cutting these plastic pins on the Olympus adapter. These pins are full plastic so doesn t participate to any signal. This doesn t prevent the adapter be used later with Olympus lenses. You just need to be careful because these plastic pins prevents you to mount not compatible lenses. I can send pictures for those interested.

  • @jeffslade1892
    @jeffslade1892 Рік тому

    Olympus and Panasonic teleconverters have an extra electrical contact to tell a compatible lens it is sitting on a teleconverter, those pins are in different places. The lens will then feed this information to the camera through the normal contacts, which will alter operation and corrections. The PL100-400 (mark.1) is not a compatible lens and lacks this contact. Yes you can remove the back plate and fit the TC, you do have to limit rear movement so the glass does not collide, but the TC will only be optical, olde school, the camera will not recognise the new focal length, and that will affect the stabilisation.

      Hi sure dual IS works on G9 + PanaLeica even with MC-14. Sharpness is better at f7.1 f8.0 as this old PanaLeica is less sharp than the new Oly 100-400. Files won't show MC-14 hence still 400mm exif. I am uploading many samples in Facebook Page follow me there > richart.asia
