In my playthrough I've found that the train is not always the best option once you factor in the rental cost, especially in early game. I actually like this because in FS22 it was always sell to the train, and the other sell points were useless. Now I end up selling to places all over the map.
ty Argsy for the video. The Diesel Engine they use here is a close representation of a EMD SW1200 that was used for logging. Can-For(Canadian Forest) had some and so did Coos Bay Lumber Company. The box in front of the cab was a dynamic brake unit and air tanks on the long hood due to having water tanks under the unit.
It's interesting knowing that the train might not always be the best option for selling grain... while personally, I love the fact that Giants brought back that Road-Switcher loco back from Silverrun for Riverbend springs, I'm wondering how different the process of swapping the base game locos out for custom locos would be from 22 to 25. If it's pretty much the same, I'm looking forward to how mappers will go about putting custom locomotives on the trains in their maps similar to how the iconic (yet fictional) SD41-2 5844 was swapped out for the Canadian railway diesels on Edgewater in 22. You certainly won't find that little switcher on the front of a 40-wagon grain train on Nelly Creek, that's for sure.
Your sell price seemed to be spot on. Im in a private multiplayer server and we haven't adjusted anything from base game server settings and I managed to get an inflated sell somehow. When I went to sell some pallets of rice boxes, market at the time for train sell was $5032 per pallet/1000L. I had 16 pallets in a box truck that I got loaded up and took off to GCV. 16x5032 should be 80,512 by any math standard but once I got my sell alert I don't remember the exact amount but it was 92,???. A solid 12k+ over what I should have received. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I noticed the same and have to agree with you, the train seemed to dominate markets in FS22, seems more balanced this time around

I imagine it will be much the same as previous, but haven't looked in to it yet
that is awesome glad the trains are paying better now
