This week was Read Across America week at my school so we got to be super inspired with dress up days (book character, crazy clothes, nerd day) it was wonderful to see all the different outfits show up instead of the usual boring uniforms!
I actually prefer your closet dress up vs the thrift store ones. The thrift store content feeds my unnecessary desire to acquire more stuff, but seeing you “shop your closet” and problem solve, it inspired me to do the same.
When I went to school in the early 00’s almost everyone wore pajama bottoms and sweatshirts on campus - the exact opposite of inspiring! 🫣😅 To be fair, it was a small school that was 7 to 1 girls to guys. It was a nice school, but definitely lacking in the variety or people and styles over at the big state school. 😞🤷🏻♀️
You must have a more creative uni than me, if I went people watching at our campus i wouldn't see anything but big comfy hoodies and blue denim jeans 😂
The campus I work at is going through it's "clean girl" era and everyone wears the same unexciting hoodies and jeans, I stand out like a sore thumb in frills, velvet and audacious prints 😅
Can you do more outfit lookbook type videos in the future too? :) Basically just playing dress up and having fun with your wardrobe...it's such a joy to witness your creativity and I love the outfits you create so so so much
I have two kiddos in elementary school, so drop off in the morning is always so fun. I love seeing what the other kiddos put together. The pattern mixing! The layering! The sheer confidence!!! It's always great.
It's Sunday afternoon. I'm laying here dreading going to work in an hour. I am a blob. A lump who needs to wash her hair but lacks the energy to comb out long hair tangles. I'm stuck in a morass of pollen allergies sinus misery, general life malaise, PMS, and a crushing sense of financial futility. I hate everything. Hmmmm, Oh, look! There's a new Kathleen video! *watches video* Well, ok. If I can't lay in bed watching cute apartment tour videos all day, I'm at least gonna wear those big, funky earrings I was gifted and adore but haven't had the courage to wear out in public, yet. Oh, and those silver glitter flats I thrifted. *drags self out of bed, puts hair in long braid down my back* Thank you for the inertia busting motivational moment.
I get out of a style rut by going to my jewelry collection. I usually make an outfit by picking out the clothes first and then adding accessories. But to get out of a style rut, I will pick a necklace or a bracelet or a hair clip or earrings that I haven't worn in a while and build the outfit around it. That always leads me to create a new style I haven't worn before. Another thing I try is to look in my closet for something I haven't worn in ages, or ever, and style around it. If I can do it, then I feel good about using a different thing from my closet. If I can't style it or decide I really don't like it, then I can donate it and thus clear some useless stuff out of the my life.
I love your vibe so much. It's giving calm chaos, daydreaming about the apocalypse while sipping camomille tea, respectfully touching art in a museum when security isn't looking.👌🏻💜
Kathleen, I stumbled across your channel at the beginning of the year and I am obsessed with your goofy, thrift goblin vibes. I binged all your content and just ran out of videos to watch. I've been eagerly awaiting this video all week! Thanks for bringing me so much joy ❤
I have multiple forms of synesthesia, and your voice smells like my grandparents old things and their old house. Your voice smells like vintage clothing in the best possible way, I feel nostalgic when I watch your videos.
Absolutely love you using your closet to make the final outfits and only getting what you needed from the thrift store! A lot of thrifting content creators do hauls that promote overconsumption of clothes they already have in their closet. I love seeing that you can recreate Pinterest outfits in the thrift store but you don't need to buy things you already have!!
Fuscia Helena Bonham Carter! Loved all of these. Thank you for pointing out the styling. I have such a hard time with styling as opposed to just wearing my clothes.
That last outfit was so stinkin' cute. I really love it when you reach for that dress because you always look like you're having the best time ever when you put it on, and that's the whole point really.
Highly recommend going on a date (friend or significant other) and mimic someone else’s style at the thrift store. It was so much fun to dress up myself and husband. Our theme was urban ninja with lots of layers/anime character vibes.
My obsessiveness has been kicked into overdrive this season with denim dresses. It started With a way oversized vintage button up A-line classic that I sized down to fit and from there it was on. I then saw a pieced colorblocked number from a designer in Montreal that was way out of budget range but inspired me to start collecting both denim and various skirts and dresses with a view to building my homage to the pieced light and dark denim fitted and flared skirt cami on top lovely. After that whilst seeking the correct denim skirt (or 2-3) to make my dress easier to build I collected several vintage midi skirts that in the end could Not bring myself to chop up and started instead wearing with the denim waist coats I binged on last summer that I still can’t stop wearing. My life is now a a non stop met ball to which I come attired in the national Tuxedo of my homeland. Cuz I’m a little bit country and by little I mean completely. I. Can’t. Stop. Hunting and also making denim dresses. Why? Nobody knows. An intervention is in the works but I won’t stop till I Am Britney Spears at the 2001 Grammy awards.
The denim look in the changing room: so Madonna "Ray of light" vibe! Also: this shade of pinks looks orchid or raspberry to me. Loving the "McGonagall at Clown Hogwarth" outfit on you!
I found a thneed like this in 1991 and wore it for the next eight years or so. It was a dusty blue gray and I called it my rat wool sweater. Loved that thing. I wish we took pictures in those days. ;)
I loved this video. When you do the no buy thrift stores I'm always sad you don't have the outfits, this is a great way to get the satisfaction of shopping and not buying and you having new outfits to wear!!!!!! AGAIN AGAIN
My favorite outfits were the orange stays top, black shrug, and camo pants (which I bet would also look great with the orange stripe track pants), and the mauve dress with red/pink blazer! I love when you make outfits from your own closet, bc then A) I get to see all your cool items! and B) I get inspired to make new outfits from my own closet!
I’m in LOVE with that last outfit ugh it’s SO FUN!!!!!! 🤩 It would be cool to add some petticoat-type layers under those skirts to increase their flooffiness ☁️
I love your humour, your quirky style, your knowledge of trends and eras, and YOU as an overall beautiful human being ❤ - keep up the great work!!! XOXO
I feel very proud of myself for yelling Orange! when you said you wanted a statement sweater for the Canadian tuxedo and then you brought out this absolute orange glory hkjeqifhoj 🧡
currently in that "i'm so done with dressing warm when spring is here but it's still cold" kinda mindset so thanks for the positivity and extra inspo! i love what you came up with in the end. especially the last one! such a fun statement! you're the funkiest and i love ya
Kathleeeeen! I’d love to see your take on what to wear in the summer when it’s 90 degrees and wearing anything more than underwear is a chore. 😂 I always struggle with stylizing an outfit when I feel like layers are out of the question.
Absolutely love the final fushia look! Very very you. You've inspired me to have a look through my wardrobe and try pairing some things I wouldn't usually
Heyyy, I’m glad you’re feeling better! ☺️✨ A fun episode- sometimes the thrift gods give, but they rarely go totally compliant… Thanks for taking us back to your closet to roll with that reality and put together some genuinely cool outfits!!
I love the idea of utilizing my own wardrobe to dupe some Pinterest looks. There's nothing quite like finding new ways to wear the clothes you already have to feel like a fashionista. Thanks for this awesome inspiration!!
What you did with the black pieces is precisely my favorite way to dress. All black, multiple layers upon layers. It's easy to thrift when you only buy one color (in this case, black). I'm jealous of that black tonal striped shirt. Sadly, layers didn't work great when I lived in Florida :(
I listen to a wide variety of music so when im in a style rut i like to create outfits inspired by the genera or specific songs that im into at the time
It’s always a great time when a clown is referenced to a new job! Just when I’m feeling disconnected for not relating to these girly fashions I get some whimsy humor. My inspirations are MatPat’s “rainbow vomit” tops, Kaz Rowe’s patterned button up and vest, crochet, already mentioned clowns, and more recently Hank Green’s plaid button up and graphic tee because I love plaid but not so much skirts. I love button ups with animals or nature.
me and my friend just went to the thrift store yesterday lookin to find some items I've got on my list! on the way home I was even thinking "hm, maybe I should get some reference images to find the vibe I'm looking for"
omg, no! you added the canadian tuxedo explanation right at the moment when I decided to check what exactly it was! I just took the phone into my hands and you literally saved me a google 😂 it was another level of attuned
Your closet is my absolute DREAM closet, from the dresser to the wood "wall" in front of your hanging clothes (60s-70s lover 😅), organised hanging clothes and to just have a closet full of clothes that fit, to play with 😍 I will keep this video in favorites to help me walk towards my goals in life! Thank you for being awesome!! 🤩 I just made myself a very happy skirt, from maaaany small squares sewn together, all of different coloured and pattern fabrics, a see through lace detail and to top it of, a half underskirt in a 60s/70s pattern that peeks out on the bottom, going to debute it "to the world" tomorrow, so excited, a bit scared, people will most likely look a me a bit funny and I'm not very confident in my currently heavy "bodysuit", but I need to be my colourful self 😅🤩
I love your videos! I am a recent subscriber with a long-standing love for fashion and thrifting unique items. I’ve been trying to shop my closet and build bolder outfits, so I am a HUGE fan of what you do. Thanks for posting! =D
I loved it! Love the realness and as always the creativity! I loved the last two! That cream on cream! Such a cool combo. Then the purple number. Super funky but totally works.
I am core audience, and I personally really enjoy the tangents. I discovered your channel when I was looking for sewing content, and it didn't take me long to subscribe and start working my way through your videos. And your personality and chattiness is one of the main reasons I stick around (along with my enjoyment of your approach to trying new things, and the cute pooch). Personally I'd watch stitching and stories.. I'd like to see it on a second channel. Patreon gets too much on the old purse strings, I just can't afford to keep doing that, sadly. Although I understand everyone needs to make an income. Anyway... That was long. Thanks for being you :) and keep chatting!
I finally hemmed these black high-waisted flared stretchy pants that I've had for couple of years that I never wore because they were sooo long. They're nothing special, just flared ribbed pants from some fast fashion brand (thrifted them obviously) and the silhoutte was aggressively trendy couple of years of ago, but the fabric is nice and sturdy. I was first planning on pairing the pants with a vintage blazer that has a similar fabric (and leopard print faux-fur collar and cuffs! ) but didn't end up liking them together. I've also been wanting to start wearing pants with skirts/dresses but didn't really have any pants/trousers that would work until I tried styling these pants!!! They're really snug on thighs and on the hip area so they don't add too much bulk and they go so well with my favourite dresses and skirts!! I've been wearing them almost non-stop for couple of weeks and they bring so much interest to my almost all-black outfits (and also extra warmth, I live in Finland and it's still minus degrees ((celsius)) in here). So my tipfor getting out of style rut would be to thrift some well fitting basic layering piece and start wearing it with all your fav outfits!
I loved all of these outfits, I would have NEVER thought of any of those combinations!! But they all look so amazing on you!! And they're so creative, really love it
This is a great idea! When I get in a style rut, I clean out my closet and dresser and the shop my closet, but I love this idea - shop your closet with Pinterest ideas! Also I like you a lot and I wish we could go thrifting together because you always make me see things differently and I like that okay sorry to make it awkward byeee
"I'll save you the google" Kathleen I was befuddled as soon as you said Candian tuxedo, paused this, did the google, went "ah okay" then came back to you
Laundry day removes a lot of the creative barriers. Also with very limited space and a crappy washer, I got into layering short dressy tops over long sleeve ts and other soft long sleeve tops for work, where sweaters are too hot. I am poor and in various ways started winding up with pants that were too short but not on purpose. Enter wackadoodle socks.
I love watching your styling videos, they give me so much inspiration. And your voice is so calming it literally like hanging out with an old friend talking fashion😆
I get inspired by watching you and other UA-camrs. Like Sunshine 83 and Kari Dayton, and others. And thank you for your quirkiness it puts a smile on my face..💃🏽🥰
what's bringing us inspiration these days?!
These days I'm waiting for spring and I'm obsessed with speckled clay and pastel celadon glazes 😅
I've been checking out fashion lookbooks and street style compilations from my library! I'm really loving the Fruits magazine lookbook.
This week was Read Across America week at my school so we got to be super inspired with dress up days (book character, crazy clothes, nerd day) it was wonderful to see all the different outfits show up instead of the usual boring uniforms!
going out and people watching! also communicating on fashion discord servers (is there one for your channel?)
your videos :D I experiment with new silhouettes and I'm having so much fun!
I actually prefer your closet dress up vs the thrift store ones. The thrift store content feeds my unnecessary desire to acquire more stuff, but seeing you “shop your closet” and problem solve, it inspired me to do the same.
I’m a college student so when I’m uninspired I go people watch on campus. The girls really make campus their runway
When I went to school in the early 00’s almost everyone wore pajama bottoms and sweatshirts on campus - the exact opposite of inspiring! 🫣😅

Fr! Most people just wear athletic wear and pjs (including me for the pjs), but there are a few ppl who are very developed with their style!
Yes! I work in elementary and they are all so fashionable! I swear I worse sweatpants most days in elementary school. 😂
Yeah they have their own style
Okay, I'm so glad that you bought the track pants with the yellow/orange stripes down the side!
The dark fuscia dress with the plaid blazer??? Incredible! 😍
Definitely my favorite 💕
I am obsessed with that dress. I want it in black, cerulean, goldenrod… it’s just my type of lounge but always for adventure vibe.
"Head mistress of a clown school", what a perfect description! ❤😂
It’s so stunning!!
Victorian lady meets early 70s pre-punk singer. LIVING.
I just like hangin with you!!!!!! (and everyone else here
The elmo pelt is very cute and also giving thneed energy (in a good way)
i was thinking same about the thneed! i love!
Love the neutral layering outfit 😭😭😭 Victorian greenhouse keeper vibes for sure

I do the exact same thing with my jewelry!

Saaaaame!

That orange corset top for the sporty look would look so good with those black/orange striped trouserts you bought 🧡
Canadian Tuxedos are always the right choice. 😍
THE LAST GIBBOUS MOON
when is it? what is it? there's no way to possibly know!!!!!! 🍳
The dress with blazer gives Nadia from What We Do in the Shadows vibes, in the best way.
Absolutely love you using your closet to make the final outfits and only getting what you needed from the thrift store! I feel like all of the putfits were fine, and then BAM! The dark fuchsia hit! That outfit is a masterpiece 🌺🤡
Fuscia Helena Bonham Carter! Loved all of these. Thank you for pointing out the styling. I have such a hard time with styling as opposed to just wearing my clothes.
The last purple dress combo would look so cool with belt corset and the tux open and docs!
That last outfit was so stinkin' cute. I really love it when you reach for that dress because you always look like you're having the best time ever when you put it on, and that's the whole point really.
Omg with the Elmo pelt. I just laughed out loud so much.
I love your Adventurist Nature. Victorian conservationist was my Fav 🇨🇦❤️
just another day of me being obsessed with some of the clothes you pull out of your closet 😍😍 these outfits wow
The magenta outfit!!!!! Yeeeessss!!!! You are forbidden to ever get rid of that dress!!!! And I loved the denim as well!!!!! ❤🎉
I don’t even understand that dress but love it so much!
Highly recommend going on a date (friend or significant other) and mimic someone else’s style at the thrift store. It was so much fun to dress up myself and husband. Our theme was urban ninja with lots of layers/anime character vibes.
Your actual? outfit, the yellow, black, and white is SO great

Loving the "McGonagall at Clown Hogwarth" outfit on you!
Love the black dress over the black dress! Your Canadian tuxedo was on point….I was thinking add a jean jacket…embrace the denim!❤❤
Headmistress of the Clown College was schooling us! I loved that outfit! That purpley dress is so cool. 🤡❤🧡💜🤡
Okay, but I really loved the outfit you wore to the thrift store; that blazer is fantastic!
When I’m in a style rut I watch videos like yours, Kathleen! 👯♀️💚
That furry orange vintage sweater is AMAZING, and looks like a thneed from The Lorax (but make it high fashion) 😆❤️
I found a thneed like this in 1991 and wore it for the next eight years or so. It was a dusty blue gray and I called it my rat wool sweater. Loved that thing. I wish we took pictures in those days. ;)
LOVE the pale yellow outfit!! feeling v inspired by it and your whole vibe
Loving "the style yourself out of a rut" excersize, thinking I need to tap into the fearless style wise gal I was years ago ....life is short be bold
I loved this video. When you do the no buy thrift stores I'm always sad you don't have the outfits, this is a great way to get the satisfaction of shopping and not buying and you having new outfits to wear!!!!!! AGAIN AGAIN
The black lace with the sporty trousers is so 90s, i love it!
The elmo pelt trope made me nearly tear up laughing. You are such fun!
I’m in LOVE with that last outfit ugh it’s SO FUN!!!!!! 🤩
It would be cool to add some petticoat-type layers under those skirts to increase their flooffiness ☁️
I want more cute white and pastel clothing for spring and summer in my wardrobe and hope to find this at the thrift store
I love your humour, your quirky style, your knowledge of trends and eras, and YOU as an overall beautiful human being ❤ - keep up the great work!!! XOXO
the purple top with the camo pants and loafers feels like a josuke from jjba outfit! very cute!
I feel very proud of myself for yelling Orange! when you said you wanted a statement sweater for the Canadian tuxedo and then you brought out this absolute orange glory hkjeqifhoj 🧡
The way you said I'm coming for you to the rest of the sesame Street characters 😂😂 ahhh loved it and hunting elmo in the conclusion almost in tears
currently in that "i'm so done with dressing warm when spring is here but it's still cold" kinda mindset so thanks for the positivity and extra inspo! i love what you came up with in the end. especially the last one! such a fun statement! you're the funkiest and i love ya
High five! *Kiss!* 😂 You are original and delightful! Thank you for the fun and the inspiration.
My girl, I love the minihack to use a ring for a bandana/scarf to hold it! Definitely try it 🌼🧡
Not the muppet hunt 😂
No one is safe!!! 🔪
I LOVE that last outfit. It wasn’t clowny at all!! 😃
I love the idea of utilizing my own wardrobe to dupe some Pinterest looks. There's nothing quite like finding new ways to wear the clothes you already have to feel like a fashionista. Thanks for this awesome inspiration!!
i looooove the creme coloured outfit at 18:00, it's so cooool
I love the shopping your closet of this vid it help reduce the want to buy new to achieve a look when you might already have pieces that work!
Yeahhh early to a Kathleen video!! My fave past time is crocheting while watching your videos!
Fashion rule I read ~ wear black and/or navy, you will not get noticed. Wear any other color, you will get noticed.
What you did with the black pieces is precisely my favorite way to dress. All black, multiple layers upon layers. It's easy to thrift when you only buy one color (in this case, black). I'm jealous of that black tonal striped shirt. Sadly, layers didn't work great when I lived in Florida :(
i LOVE that last outfit!!!!! it's so wonderfully business-clown. i'm thoroughly inspired
you've taught me so much about layering and as a non-binary person that is suuuper helpful for me so thanks!! you help me stay out of the rut :)
I listen to a wide variety of music so when im in a style rut i like to create outfits inspired by the genera or specific songs that im into at the time
It’s always a great time when a clown is referenced to a new job! Just when I’m feeling disconnected for not relating to these girly fashions I get some whimsy humor.

Loved all of the outfits. Another idea for the fluffy girl top would be take a short gather skirt, use it as a top 😊
Ooh I love the outfit w the fuchsia dress and red jacket 😍 So pretty!
me and my friend just went to the thrift store yesterday lookin to find some items I've got on my list! on the way home I was even thinking "hm, maybe I should get some reference images to find the vibe I'm looking for"
omg, no! you added the canadian tuxedo explanation right at the moment when I decided to check what exactly it was! I just took the phone into my hands and you literally saved me a google 😂
it was another level of attuned
Yes her timing was impeccable
Love the plants hanging from the ceiling in there!
In California we call it a Tennessee Tuxedo or Texas Tuxedo. LOL
Was looking for inspiration to get dressed today and saw this new upload. Great timing!
:O just for you!!!
I just made myself a very happy skirt, from maaaany small squares sewn together, all of different coloured and pattern fabrics, a see through lace detail and to top it of, a half underskirt in a 60s/70s pattern that peeks out on the bottom, going to debute it "to the world" tomorrow, so excited, a bit scared, people will most likely look a me a bit funny and I'm not very confident in my currently heavy "bodysuit", but I need to be my colourful self 😅🤩
If I ever get like that when objects try to choke me? Um, YES! Thank you for inspiring me to try out some new combos.
Crocs with socks ❤ 🐊 🐊 🧦 🧦
I felt seen when the secret crocs were revealed. Those are my house slippers when I’m in my Jammies
I love your videos! I am a recent subscriber with a long-standing love for fashion and thrifting unique items. I’ve been trying to shop my closet and build bolder outfits, so I am a HUGE fan of what you do. Thanks for posting! =D
So so glad you bought the pants! It was giving me anxiety that you left them behind 😂
Love the idea of blending two different styles like the frilly and baggy combo!
I loved it! Love the realness and as always the creativity! I loved the last two! That cream on cream! Such a cool combo. Then the purple number. Super funky but totally works.
Oh and when I’m in a rut, I watch your videos and Beepworld’s ❤

I love this and the chaos as usual... the first at home fit is also an unintential Ariel (Little Mermaid) Disney bound ❤🎉

🎉being inspired to see if I can make my dream pinterest outfits from what's already in my closet 🎉
The last outfit is totally my cup of tea🤩🤌🏻 I love the dress by itself but with the blazer it’s so cute and fun🌸
Head mistress at a Clown College is my style goals most days tbh
Double denim looks delightful on you!
And of course clown school headteacher is perfect for you 😊
Magenta is what came to mind for the dress color.

RIP Elmo 😢😂❤

I get inspired by watching you and other UA-camrs. Like Sunshine 83 and Kari Dayton, and others. And thank you for your quirkiness it puts a smile on my face..💃🏽🥰
