    (long post)
Hello, I started making wood ash lye soap from the previous year, this is the only thing I would call quality product for hair and body wash. Soon I will be making more and will try different ph levels for laundry . I also used the soaked method but soon I am planning to try the old school method with two buckets . I haven't add essential oils but for me it didn't smelled bad I think it also depends on the oils you choose to put in.. I personally used pH test stripes but also you can test the Ph of the ready lye with a chicken feather if it dissolves then the PH is 13 and it is ready to use.. I think this is the best possible cleaning product, one product for every purpose also it is available and it has been used from our ancestors before they created the new age sodium hydroxide soaps ( cheap available but damaging as well ) . Also I added salt to make a hard soap and to be honest it gets harder with time, i let a piece cure for about 6 months and it is so much better than the fresh ready product. .
Toothpaste : I make my toothpaste by adding clay powder plus coconut oil and propolis tincture. Propolis works as a preservative and it does wonders for keeping teeth cleaned and protected. Also sometimes i use powdered herbs like nettle, yarrow ( it is good for bleeding gums and paradontitis) chamomile and min i grind them really fine and with that powder I brush my teeth. Though this method is really refreshing I dont use it often.

Thanks for leaving the comments open, Sylvie. The fresh rain water is probably a key to a good soap. All that ionization. Thank you, for all you do. You shine brilliantly.

I love it when you put the videos with the subtitles option because my mother tongue is not English and it is easier for me to understand the subtitles in English. A warm greeting from Chile South America. Saludos!

You can make a vinegar with the lemon 🍋🍊peels as a natural degreaser, you must let it ferment in water for 2 weeks and you will have an excellent natural degreaser. If you want you can add a few drops of soap to generate foam. 💪

I make my toothpaste with bentonite clay, liquid coconut oil, baking soda and spearmint essential oil... Sometimes cinnamon essential oil. I make lotion bars with cocao, mango and shea butters. I use this on my hair as a styling product and as a body and face cream. inexpensive and pure. I also make cleaning spray and scouring powder. I am excited to try this ash recipe as I have been wanting to get into shampoos and body wash. I bet we can wash clothing with this or something similar to this.

This is a great concept, I've been avoiding shampoo, etc, myself for some years now, phthalates and everything else. But -- please check the pH of your mixture? Wood ashes and water is the recipe for lye. It's a strong alkali, so alkaline that it can cause burns, or damage your eyes. It feels soapy because it will saponify the fats and oils from your skin. The essential oil is probably just a small amount? So there'd be a lot of lye remaining in the mixture, and the pH would still be very high.
To turn this into actual soap, just add more oil or fat, until all of the lye has reacted and the pH is somewhere around neutral. Some recipes call for an additional amount of oils, so the soap doesn't leave the skin dried out.
It's possible to use alkaline solutions for laundry, something safe like baking soda, for example. As I said, the oils would be saponified by the alkali, turning to soap and washing out of the cloth. I think I'd still neutralize it with a bit of acid afterward, apple cider vinegar maybe?
Thank you, btw, for all of your other videos and info, and best of luck with this new project.

1 can add soda bikarbonate. it works well with or without soda, it washes, it is liquid soap.

@@newearth-sylvie-ivanova First of all, I want to apologize for raising the objection, you're such a beacon of truth against the penguins, ( Jeanne d'Arc, vraiment ) I don't want to question that in any way.
Adding more alkali to this... I wouldn't? Keep the bicarbonate of soda as a separate mixture -- I've used it instead of detergent and it works well. And the "baking soda" boxes in the stores are just sodium bicarbonate, nothing added.
But... but... using lye instead of soap... look up "washerwoman's hands" maybe, ? All it needs is some coconut, or olive, oil, ?
May God guide you, and protect you. I won't pursue you any further on this.

I make a deodorant with organic corn starch, baking soda, coconut oil and water. Mix a ratio of 1 part baking soda to 2 parts cornstarch together, stir, add the oil and water to create a slurry. If there is irritation from the baking soda, dilute it. Add some essential oil if you want. This mixture does not appear to stain clothes. Make a couple of small open neck jars and store one in the fridge for later use. If the mixture hardens after while, add a bit of water and stir it in.
Sorry, I don't have the exact recipe, because I just put it together spontaneously.
This is a good way to avoid chemicals, and you can reuse the jars instead of throwing out the plastic deodorant stick holder. It was this last "feature" especially that made me want to change.

I live in an offgrid cottage in Spain, we have many olive trees for oil and we press the olives in our mill. We make soap with olive oil.
We also distill essencial oils from several plants and flowers that grow in the wild, mainly rosemary and thyme and we add it to the soap for good smell.
The reciept is very easy you just need vegetal oil, soda and water (and essencial oils of your choice)
In the past I tried the soap with ashed but in the long term it is a bit aggressive with the skin and hair because it is more bleach than soap. But it is great for other uses.

I make my own deoderant using bicarbonate of soda, cornflour, coconut oil and essential oil. It works the best if any deoderant I have ever used! I got recipe from Danu's Irish Herb Garden. I have also used ivy leaves to wash clothes and I was surprised how good it worked.

There is always something new to learn to do with ash! I just started sifting white ash from charcoal so I can make cement with the white ash, and grind down the charcoal for graphene and make crucibles with it for when I build my foundry

I only used home made soaps/detergents for 20 years. I was aware of this as a child. I had many arguments with my family about how the detergents on the dishes & our clothes is not heathy. I grow most of what goes into & on my body & I find my body odour washes off with water. I actually bath in a river during summer & I’ve started doing my laundry in the river aswell & it’s good. The running water carry’s all the dirt away 😺 thanks for the video ⭐️ love your work

For Organic home made tooth paste; I heat coconut oil , then add a small amount of mint and murr oil, then stir in food grade baking soda until I have a paste. I pour it in a small jar to cool and use as needed. This is good while stores are open, I imagine other oils would work as well as other high quality salts if one has to improvise. Mint and murr are good for the gums, the salts kill bacteria and the coconut oil breaks up plaque, all no toxic , leaves the mouth very fresh and smooth.

I have been using soda bicarbona and vinegar (separately) for years on my hair instead of shampoos. It damaged my hair a lot because it dries them out completely. I have since found an alternative solution; I mix rye flour with warm water and leave it standing for a few hours or overnight. I them use this as I would shampoo and it really works. My hair are getting better also. A a nourishing treatment you can leave this mixture on your hair for about 10 to 15 mins before rinsing it off. It doesn't leave any flour residue in my hair.

I became allergic suddenly to all baby wipes, soaps, shower gels, shampoos, skin creams, etc. It was my body telling me... Nope. I only use 100 percent handmade cold pressed natural soap. No chemicals. Extra virgin olive oil is good for makeup removal. You can buy natural makeup which is not great but better than the shop rubbish. I am 32 and people still ask my I. D for buying wine. I also use baking soda and coconut oil for teeth. Sometimes hemp toothpaste which contains no fluoride. I get contact dermatitus and if product touches my face it will spread as this is most sensitive area along with fingers bumpy. Listen to body, it is a sponge.
