Losing her son recently must of been unbearable as it took its toll on her overall health. All those lost years when she stepped away from the limelight, the songs never written and never sang will leave us all with an empty void, but her legacy and her iconic songs will never be forgotten and always remembered. RIP Sinead. 🇮🇪 🙏🏻 ✨
I’ve loved her since I was a teenager in the 1980s. She was so unique. So incredibly talented. The press was horrible to her because she wanted to protect children. Everyone talked about being understanding regarding mental health problems, except with her. She is an icon and history will definitely be on her side.

When I was a young teenager in the 90s in the Arab world, her song "Nothing Compares" used to come on TV every now and then. I used to cry with her, although I understood nothing! The rebellious feeling in her voice, eyes, and shaved head used to shake and inspire me to the core. I'm now 45, and EVERY time I listen to that song, I get the same chill and feel alive in my soul. Very little did I know that I used to love her! Rest in peace, a teacher I never met!
Thank you for giving her a nice tribute. I saw her live several times in the late 80's and early 90's as well as a few years ago in Dubai. She always gave a great performance. She was right about the Pope and the Church. She exposed the pedophiles and was labeled as crazy because of it. This is an incredible loss of a wonderful voice. She is singing with the angels now! RIP Sinéad. 🙏
"She was right about the Pope and the Church." - Are you retarded or are you just pretending? She aborted her child as far as I know molesting a child or even rape is not as bad for a child as murder. The other thing is that she was supporting homosexual acts, and we know from John Jay's report that 85% of pedophilia in the Church has homosexual nature. You would know that if you read a book or two in your life instead of writing moronic comments.
Thank you, Piers, for your heartfelt tribute to Sinead. As much as i am sad for her loss, I have a feeling she's in a peaceful place. She was brave to fight an abusive church system, a corrupt music industry and stood for the downtrodden of this world, like the Palestinian people. She's of this kind of humans, who even with a broken life and soul, will choose to find their purpose and follow the path of truth. Sending warm prayers to her and hoping to get to meet her in the next Life.
Is the music industry corrupt? I worked for WBM and never encountered corruption. I would pass the gold records on the office walls and felt that we did all we could for artists like Madonna to succeed and become very rich.
@MickeyTheMouth I am sorry I wasn't specific enough. I meant the music industry is unfortunately and ultimately morally corrupt. Harvesting stereotypes about minorities and serving propaganda agendas are the main ways the media works now. Then to produce a Madonna, you have to crush the dreams of thousands of other marginalized artists, who early on were made to believe show business is the only way for them to succeed in life.. I think it's very sad for the majority and turned many of them to suicide. And that's why I think it's very corrupt morally.
Please. She joined an autocratic, top down religion where women have ZERO rights yet Piers called her a rebel. Oh, and the Palestinians are their own worst enemies.
@Anon54387 I think Cinead researched world religions both academically and at the personal level before settling on Islam. If the religion she picked had been demeaning to woman for an ounce, she wouldn't have picked it. Please read the quran and the life of the prophets and then make your opinion. 1400 years ago, when Europe was in the Dark Age, woman in Islam were given the right to own their own property, vote, inherit, and even fight in battlefield. She even had the right to divorce herself for no reason. Don't eat whatever the media feeds you. READ, like Cinead did.
Piers - I don't comment on your videos often but I must THANK YOU tremendously for this tribute to Sinead. Your words were respectful and kind. I didn't realize how familiar you were with her - the warmth in her smile to you made me feel instantly like she saw you as a good friend. I will miss her voice. She was one of my favorites growing up.
I'm not always Piers's biggest fan but he gets right to the heart of the matter here. This is a raw, honest tribute, by both Piers and Dave Fanning, that made me realise, two days after the event, what an absolute tragedy Sinead's passing is. One can't gloss over the fact that she made some foolish decisions in her life but with a lot of hindsight maybe it was apparent that her spontaneous tears in the NCTY video were a harbinger of things to come, that this was a fragile soul who would need to be nurtured. The music business doesn't teat fragile souls like Sinead very well. You can bet there are executives rubbing their hands at the prospect of the uptick in sales that will result from her passing. The people close to her (professionally) should have done more to help her in her struggles, but maybe we should have as well.
Personally uninterested in anything a "man" like HIM has to say.. He'd be the EXACT type to have slated her in life, that's how he makes his money, being a judgemental prick.. So go with your gut, Sinead wouldn't give a fvck about what people say about her to grab a headline..
Spot on the people in the music industry are parasites lining their own pockets. An example of this greed is when INX (Paula Yates' husband) died his daughter was given his guitar. Money had vanished on expenses!

Dont blame the catholic church for everything, it wasn't the church that done it. She was put into care and she was abused in the care homes as was other kids. And it was by the people that worked there or older kids. What about fathers abusing their kids and brothers abusing their sisters. Nuns got raped by the local councillors who took advantage of their position on the school board , alot of them got pregnant. But we dont hear anything about that, people should let her rest now . I can't identify with Sinead on her courage to take on the Catholic Church. Was brought up in a strict Convent School where it was impossible to even challenge the Catholic Church. Would have had to leave school if the church's dogma was questioned. I did challenge my grandmother after I finished school and was called a Catholic fundamentalist

As a college student, I remember buying her C.D. Nothing Compares and The Lion and The Cobra. My friends who were ART majors would draw pencil sketches of her. Her eyes they found phenomenal. She was a true singer and performer, and at the heart of all her controversy, she was very intimidated or, dare to say, shy. I remember Kris Kristopherson having to coax her to come on stage and perform a few months after she ripped up the picture of The Pope on SNL. She was controversial but easier or more sincere to take than Madonna. RIP Sinead
Thanks Piers for your thoughtful coverage here. I am so sad that we’ve lost Sinead, but comforted to see the global coverage about how the world wronged her for essentially speaking the truth all those years ago about what was happening in the Catholic Church. She was cancelled long before being cancelled was a thing. The narrative since then has been about her mental health, rather than on the bravery of this phenomenal woman speaking up. Fierce, fragile, an agent provocateur and a visionary ahead of her time. Rest in Power, Sinead. We love you and will miss you so much 💔
I’m still so sad at this terrible news. Such a loss to this world. No one sang like Sinéad did. The voice of an Angel 😇 she was blessed by God. The highest one we call alfirdaws is just before the Throne of Allah. This is where all the prophets and the people who worked hard the most in this life are/will be inshaAllah. Thanks for passing by. Have a lovely day :) peace x

Thankyou for all your Honesty Sinead
When I was a young teenager in the 90s in the Arab world, her song "Nothing Compares" used to come on TV every now and then. I used to cry with her, although I understood nothing! The rebellious feeling in her voice, eyes, and shaved head used to shake and inspire me to the core. I'm now 45, and EVERY time I listen to that song, I get the same chill and feel alive in my soul. Very little did I know that I used to love her! Rest in peace, a teacher I never met!
I’m 46 and had the same feeling as a teen in Canada. Her voice was so haunting, never heard anything like it. That song still brings a tear to my eye.
Thank you for giving her a nice tribute. I saw her live several times in the late 80's and early 90's as well as a few years ago in Dubai. She always gave a great performance.

@Anon54387
I think Cinead researched world religions both academically and at the personal level before settling on Islam.
Thank you, Piers. Sinead's voice is timeless. Her activism is pure, and she now rests..
Same same!
Thank you Piers
I not sure anyone close to Sinead would have been able to help her. It seems that she was a sad person, often with depression. RIP Sinead.🌷
Spot on the people in the music industry are parasites lining their own pockets. An example of this greed is when INX (Paula Yates' husband) died his daughter was given his guitar. Money had vanished on expenses!

🙏🙏☀️❤
This is far worse than when the queen died. The queen was 96, and a leech on society.
Sinead lives on, her spirit is at peace and surrounded by those she loved and those who love her. Sending her love and light, with hugs. ❤
I’m part of the older generation, I was in my 20’s living in London when Sinead started her career, I always believed in her I always loved her music, I don’t cry when artists passed away, but I could only cry when I heard the terrible news.
Very sad news indeed. Not just for the great people of Ireland, but the world. May her beautiful soul Rest In Peace. My most sincere condolences to her love ones
I totally understand what she was going through I'm so sorry you had to go through this alone she was let down by people that should of been by her side 😢😢 she was so down to earth and a real true friend we all want. I hope u find happiness in heaven Sinead with your son ❤ rest easy sinead
Here was a lady, who expressed what she felt, I believe she suffered mental health problems, she said it, losing her son, it has made me very sad before now but especially now, RIP Sinead….this was a good coverage of who this lady was. ..at the end of the day, sometimes the pain is too much…if anyone feels that way, I can only say, don’t give up, tomorrow can look different. 🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻
I’m the same age as Sinead and when she came on the music scene it was nothing short of electrifying. Her voice was unique and incredibly impactful. Never heard anything like it before. Her shaved head and rebellious persona along with her talent defined an era - the emergence of global celebration of everything Irish underscored with punk culture. RIP beautiful tortured soul.
In the end, we say: to God we belong, and to God we shall return. May the Almighty have mercy on her, forgive her sins and bid her entrance into the Eternal Abode.
Ameen
I think she committed suicide. So no heaven for her
@@TheChosen2030 It was very possible an accidental suicide, we do not know yet.
Amiin
@@ramio1983 thanks for that comment 👍 but surely it’s not suicide if it’s accidental … surely🤷🏻♂️
May she rest in Peace (RIP) Sinead O’Connor nothing truly compares to you. You are sadly being missed by your family your country and the fans around the world. My condolences to Sinead’s Family stay strong and she’s up there with the angels. #sineado’connor
😢😢
As a college student, I remember buying her C.D. Nothing Compares and The Lion and The Cobra. My friends who were ART majors would draw pencil sketches of her. Her eyes they found phenomenal. She was a true singer and performer, and at the heart of all her controversy, she was very intimidated or, dare to say, shy. I remember Kris Kristopherson having to coax her to come on stage and perform a few months after she ripped up the picture of The Pope on SNL. She was controversial but easier or more sincere to take than Madonna. RIP Sinead
you mean the lion and the cobra, im sure
@@Noun0fUrbizneSS Yes! I do. I will fix it. Thank you so much!
We love you and will miss you so much 💔
Beautifully stated Caroline!
Gargage , he slagged her off for years
@@devillehall6171 I’m sure he did - but he didn’t do it this time, and it’s that I appreciate.
I’m still so sad at this terrible news. Such a loss to this world. No one sang like Sinéad did. The voice of an Angel 😇 she was blessed by God. The poor lady loosing her son broke her heart, I don’t think she could ever recover from that loss. Now she can sing in heaven and make them all stop in their tracks like she did on earth with her super perching voice 😢 Rest in Peace Sinéad we will never forget you. I most loved how she sang the “Foggy Dew” and “She moved through the fair” ❤
I love a maverick ….a nay sayer …..a lovable rogue. Sinead was those things and much more. But her true purpose was to raise awareness with brutal honesty. People like her are rare ….and we’ve lost a true spirit of light ❤️
well said👍
She was raw and honest and real ❤
People like her are interesting. I appreciate people with opinions and who are genuine. She was the real deal. She wore her heart, her grief, her feelings, passions, on her sleeve, and she shared all that with us through her music.
@@bfc3057how bitter are you talking about a dead person in this hateful light? She is dead you understand? Can she not even have peace now you pathetic case of a human
@@bfc3057 I grew up at a similar age but in Canada. What's your definition of genuine?
To her family, her friends and all of the Irish who loved and respected her I send my deepest condolences. A legendary artist who used her voice to speak up on many important issues.
Nothing Compares 2 U was my first favourite song and music video. I remember being a toddler watching this video with my aunt ❤️ Nothing compares to Sinead O'connor!
An icon who stood by what she said. You cabt knock her for that. Rest in Peace Sinéad
The best thing anyone can do to remember her is to embody a small bit of her rebellious spirit into their normal life, she was a true artist who lived and sung from her soul❤
She is at peace now. Singing with angels and feeling the beautiful divine love and warmth .
She was the sound track of my teens and when I am feeling reminiscent, or reflective I listen to Sinead. What a beautiful gift she gave us. ❤
That was a lovely fitting tribute to Sinead by Piers ,you could tell Dave Fanning was trying to hold back his tears at the end.😢
