A good Italian horror movie from 1976 is “The legend of the wolf woman” also released as “Werewolf woman” it was released first on beta then vhs, then on dvd.
I found the same Freddy shirt at a thrift store recently too and i love it i also found some chucky ones! Love the video & great haul ❤
Book of shadows has a German blu ray and is region free if you ever want to upgrade.
My VHS copy of H20 is also from Blockbuster. Except I bought it when that store was still a thing. It has a “pre-viewed $6.99” sticker on it.

As one of the few to have logged It Waits on Letterboxd, I'm interesting to hear what you think of it! It's weirdly melodramatic if I recall correctly but I didn't mind it all that much. Very low budget though and acting performances are a bit stilted-it wouldn't surprise me if you chose not to see it through to the end.

Those blockbuster rentals are so cool.I found a child's play 1988 blockbuster clamshell VHS at the flea market last year,I will definitely cherish it because it reminds me of my childhood and I'm sure there's none out there in the wild.
I actually quite like Blair witch 2. It’s different. If I remember correct (might be wrong), but I think there is a gimmick with the dvd copy, where you can change the camera angles in some scenes. I’m sure it was this one.

I have been following you on letterboxed for a little bit and just found your channel recently and have loved the content keep up the great work :)
The Freddy shirt was so cool! For Italian horror, I've been getting into Mario Bava more. I saw some of his other movies before but I'm just watching more now. Just watched Kill, Baby...Kill. Loved that. Rewatched Blood and Black Lace. Probably the best looking movie I've ever seen. And I rewatched Lucio Fulci's Zombie (AKA Zombi 2 AKA Zombie Flesh Eaters on Letterboxd for whatever reason) and actually loved it this time. Saw it in my early 20's and I didn't like it then. Change is good actually.
I have the special edition dvd of The Bird With the Crystal Plumage from the early 2000s. My cover is quite different from yours. I liked it quite a bit. I need to rewatch it sometime.
Check out Time Bandits by Terry Guillam. I think it's one of his best. I have the DVD somewhere. However, the humor is very British. Super absurdist and super dry at the same time. However however, Terry Guillam is NOT British. He's American, but he spent a lot of time in England doing animation for Monty Python. He started out as an animator, which explains his movies so much.
Brazil is a tough movie to get into. I saw it years ago and it didn't quite click for me. I respect it more than I like it kind of thing. Also Terry Guilliam movies aren't really whimsical. They may look that way but they're actually quite dark. I think that tends to throw people off. It looks fun and whimsical but it's really about how there's no God, the government IS trying to kill you (and will probably succeed!), the universe is a cruel nightmare and if you don't laugh at it it will drive you insane. And his horror movie Tideland is about child abuse and neglect. It's also about a little girl who escapes into fantasy to deal with the fact that her parents are very much dead. I might be wrong but I think they're bodies are still in the house. I haven't seen it in a while. No spoilers. That's how the movie starts. It gets darker!
I have the Time Bandits criterion edition too! Gonna check it out soon. I really want to explore his whole filmography
Tbh I don't know if I see people talk about The Fisher King enough to be argued as his best film. Personally my favorite is his Monty Python stuff and Brazil, which doesn't have Bruce in it so I think you were thinking of something else? But Brazil is great.
Me and my girlfriend went to barnes and noble recently and i found Scooby Doo on Zombie Island on dvd. It was great watching it for the first time since i was a kid

Still have never seen Blair Witch 2, but the original Blair Witch marketing was pretty revolutionary.. here's something fascinating.. in the behind the scenes of Pulp Fiction, Tarantino is messing around between takes and recording Bruce Willis on a VHS cam corder.. Bruce says that in the next 5 years someone is going to make a feature film on a VHS camera with a 60K budget and that it will be the hippest thing and will spawn countless imitations and Tarantino agreed.. and this was in 1993 so Bruce Willis definitely predicted Blair Witch Project, he saw something like that coming..
I was trying to figure out why The Neon Demon sounded familiar.. I see it's directed by Nicolas Winding Refn which is why.. Drive is the only film of his that I've seen, but it's legit one of my favorite films from the 2010s..
Despite neon demon, drive is still on my watchlist

But everytime I would watch a new Italian horror, especially form argento, it never really clicks with me the first time around either. They usually need second or third watches for me to like them.
Also, that VHS copy of H2O is fire! That’s my preferred ending to the Laurie strode saga. I still haven’t seen resurrection just so I can maintain H20 is the ending haha
I grew up watching the og Charlie’s angels. It was quite the movie for a young red-blooded boy like myself hahha I hope you get into how silly it is.

@@KylieRoseanne that’s fair. Tbh a lot of those movies have SA scenes so i totally understand if you wanna pass on them. They are the Italian slashers after all.
The Bird with the crystal plumage is so amazing but i get you i was like that the first time you watched it. It felt boring the first time and then like it was good but not amazing i watched it in October 2021 then I revisited it that again on February 2022 to check again for some reason and it was really good and enjoyed more and more when I rewatched it so i get you felling bored at the first watch because it happens but when you see it again since a long time it gets more good since you know the things that are going to happen. To this day i watched bird for like 12 times and it is amazing but i can understand your opinion. Great haul.
You need to watch the 1980 Maniac movie. One of the most disturbing movies you'll ever see. Amazing performance

Recent Italian film I watched, that I thought was good and worth a watch, was Dario Argento’s Opera.
It’s starts off slow, and I thought to myself, this one must be a miss, getting a bit boring and dunno how much longer I’ll watch for.
But then out of completely no where, this one scene starts and sent it into complete overdrive, beyond beggars belief. Holy fuck👀 and then from there, the film has your complete attention.
And on a side note, have you played the Halloween game on your phone? It’s a puzzle based game, but it’s quite good. Has mini clips, and you fix up the old Myers house, I play it during my work breaks 😅.

The Neon Demon was a weird one. All style no substance. Seeing Keanu was so random. I do remember liking the visual style at times, but this movie didn’t really grab me

Aww I’m sorry to hear you didn’t like the Neon Demon. It’s one of my favorites, but the symbolism is a bit heavy handed, so I get it lol.
I don’t mind blatant symbolism, my problem is it does the very things it seems to be criticizing the fashion industry for. Very un-self aware

You've confused Gilliam's 12 Monkeys with Brazil, last one starred Jonathan Pryce - so which one you've watched? Both are genius, and I'd also recommend 12 Monkeys the series, which expanded on the idea so much!
In regards to Neon Demon - do you like Winding Refn's style at all? Have you seen Only God Forgives and Drive? Most of all I'd recommend Too Old to Die Young series, it's like 9 whole movies, and a shorter 30-minute 10th one, but if you get through the 2nd one, entirely in Spanish about an old dying Mexican cartel leader, to the point where you might scream at the screen "Die Already!" (I did 😂), then you'll be rewarded with one of the best TV series of all time, it's that good. Best role for Jena Malone, and overall super atmospheric and stylish. The director basically leaves a slowly rotating 360 degrees camera, with things happening around, so you feel like an inadvertent witness to some horrible and beautiful things. Alright, I'll shut up, thanks for reading, if you do. 😁
