I think this is a fantastic kickstarter and totally worth it. Like you said, buying all of the issues separately you’re looking at $1,000 or more! I would love to back the full project but Mr. Budget says no 😂 I might be able to snag one compendium.
I got the cobra one for 300... a great deal for someone who loved gi joe and grew up watching the TV show.
I missed out on the Hama bookplate set but did get the Snake Eyes full set. I’m kind of hoping someone who backed the Hama Joe set drops out so I can get another chance at it.
I voted for Outback, Alpine, and Lowlight on the Joe side and Firefly, Scrapiron, and Wild Weasel on the Cobra side.
They are going to have some more signed copies become available
quick kick was my fav beautiful gi joe from kids days through one of my friends.
Price tag is high. I’m going to pass. I’ll just stick to the trade paper back that’s out now digitally😊
Yes, logged in the second it launched, thought about 2 options and still pledged at 168. It was crazy fast at launch. Was going to go all in for both sets just like you, but for reasons I just ended up getting the Cobra set with the Hama bookplate. The gilded edges are red, blue, silver & gold per each individual book in the set. I really didn't like the red at all, it's interesting that you thought it was really nice. Different strokes and all that. Myself I would much more prefer just silver on the blue books and gold on the red. Both classy options. Couple of concerns that we'll see how it works out 1. gutter loss which they addressed today and said there's barely any 2. print quality after issue 50 which they have only said they are using the best scans they can get. So, not really sure what that will mean for us. May go in for the Snake Eyes book 1 on the Joe side, maybe. Otherwise the TPB compendiums are pretty cheap and another option for the shelves.Edit... I just noticed that you were trying to get everything at a good cost, then I double thought you got two sets of the same thing. You could have gotten a complete physical set for $300. I must have missed you really wanted to have the opposing side covers.
$300 is tough
Later down the line they are releasing them all in paper back form. Might be an alternate route to go.

This is tempting, but the omnibus size of these 4 volumes makes it difficult to sit down and read. I'm sure it will look fantastic on a shelf, but it doesn't seem practical as a reader... if you didn't have to original issues or some version of the stories already collected in trades. I wish Skybound had gone a route similar to the Hachette published Transformers: The Definitive G1 Collection. Cheers to all that are going to enjoy it, but it's not for me.
Where did you hear that October might be when these sets ship? I’ve only heard December 2024. Getting these in October would be sweet though. I hope you’re right.

@@CoffeeNToys In looking back at the campaign page the sets each say delivery is estimated for December 2024.

@@CoffeeNToys It may have, but with the amount of orders they are getting we may be lucky to get them in December. I’m wondering if it will be a first come first served situation.
There's a paperback compendium of volume 1 on Amazon for October. I think that's what he's talking about. Interestingly there's also a listing for a paperback Transformers compendium around the same time. Here's hoping they do a a kick starter for a Transformers hardcover boxed set too.
They said there won't be anymore bookplates signed by Hama. Just a heads up.

@@rgsniper2 The next stretch goal is 500 more signed bookplates. I don't know how it will work out though.
So you're saying I can get all the copies and I no longer have to depend on coffee drinking UA-camrs to help me relive my GI Joe comic past 😮. Just kidding I love watching your reviews I'm probably just going to back the basic cheapest one.

If you want the cheapest, remember that the paperback compendiums are coming out at a really good price.
@@rgsniper2 that's a good point, but those are coming out much later, and post kickstarter folks receiving there hardback volumes, correct?
@@CoffeeNToys First one comes out in Oct which is 1-50 then they have not set the release schedule after that, that I have saw. $45 on cheapgraphicnovels site.
@@CoffeeNToys Weird, I responded to this but I don't see where the response went to??? Anyway, first one (issues 1-50) comes out in October and then they have not given exact release dates for the rest yet. It's $45 on cheapgraphicnovels site though, so that's a very good savings.
