I am big fan of your channel, i want to share story of My startup, we were struggling with raising capital from investors/angel investors /govt funding. So we took slightly different approach, we invested money in popular products and started selling those on marketplaces. With that approach, we are now getting constant revenue and we have launched our product with some initial customers ;) If you want, i would be happy to share more details ;) PS. Till date, we have been rejected by 238 investors inlcuding govt funding ;)
Identifying needs and sourcing/reselling existing products that meet those needs is certainly a viable model. The vast majority of small businesses in the world do manage to start and grow without any investor funding at all! Just like you are doing. With that approach, you avoid spending what is usually a very large amount of time courting and then, once you close them, managing investors.
I would add as #11 commercial loans from a bank. I have a meeting with my banker next Tuesday, and my expectation is they will allow/require additional collateral (e.g. rental property or my residence).
Yes, Seed funds and accelerator funds are a category that can be available to startups at an earlier stage than other forms of investor funding - but they can also be very competitive.
Sorry - but my business-model hypotheses for a truck rental company on the internet would be mainly guesses because I don't know that much about that particular business. But the question I'd start with is: what's the unmet need? In other words, thinking about the value proposition, are there prospective customers who have a pain that's not being addressed, or a desired gain that they are not receiving from the existing solutions for renting a truck?
