V8E8: Along the Arizona Peace Trail

- Опубліковано 8 жов 2024
- An adventure in a compressed timeline! With only two fulls days to record video, I venture south toward Yuma, Arizona, via the rugged and beautiful Arizona Peace Trail. Windy weather presents challenges as I seek out a place to camp, and a surreal landscape in the Trigo Mountain Wilderness inspires foot-based exploration. The week concludes with a crackling campfire and a delicious steak.
Welcome back to Arizona. I work in Az for the Higway Patrol. Next time you're in , we'll send you a challenge coin!
Thanks for taking me along
FCA needs to sponsor you. No better Jeep commercial than this. Cheers and safe travels!!
So I have managed to get my six year old granddaughter hooked on your channel. She and her two year old brother spent the weekend with us. She asked every night if we could watch some more of the guy in the orange Jeep. You're a star Chris!
Traveling by yourself is my preference, no problems going where you want to go, when you want to. No discussion or arguments !
100% The worst thing my wife says to me is let's go somewhere with friends (usually a couple). A meal out I'd fine but overnight is a nightmare for me. I usually have to say no.
I loved traveling by myself in the day... It's wonderful being with that special person but overly accommodating that other person...
Chris, try putting butter on the outside of the bread, before you put them in the clamp and you will likely get a better overall browning to your sandwiches. also as an easy treat, use white bread and a fruit filling and make quick fruit pockets. keep up the amazing journey.
Xcellent video. Interesting country......Thanks
Chris; Thanks for another great video and scenery.
First time viewer. Just got my 4x4 and plan on doing a lot of traveling. You came highly recommended. Really enjoyed the beautiful scenery!! Will probably binge watch!! Peace out and stay safe.
I'm a California girl. 10 years ago I wandered the mountains in the Eastern Sierra and Nevada with my 2004 Jeep Wrangler....Copper Orange she was. I was incessant in my wandering...for 15 years...and I miss it. When I first found your videos, I thought I was having a DejaVu. I find great comfort and peace riding along with you in that backcountry. I agree about serendipity. Thank You for sharing.
Loved the video...the scenery was awesome.Great job!
It's always a good idea to watch out for Sandpeople...or in some ways worse, the Jawas. They will pick your vehicle clean in 10 minutes flat!
Seriously, though, those sites did look a lot like the places they shot part of Star Wars, excuse me, A New Hope in. A nice find!
As usual, a gorgeously shot and edited bit of video. I look forward to your videos every week! Thank you!
They filmed Episode 4 outside of Yuma, all of the Tattooine sites. And Odorous, I have two kids so ya.
@Odorous Smegma Yup I seen them, and have pleasured them, too. And all of them were as much fans of Star Wars/Star Trek/other SF&F as I am. Geek Girls Rock!
I sure like your videos. Glad your in the western part of the U S. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to see you're rocking that Garmin Explorer+ out there...don't leave home without it.
Downright fantastic!
Chris, this weeks episode was particular poignant for us. My wife Erin sat down next to me as I was finishing the episode and said casually “ Do you think he ever gets lonely?” Without a word, I rewound to the campfire scene and we watched it together.
I truly do hope you encounter a beautiful smile during a hike and reach the summit together. Well it might not happen exactly that way, I feel confident it will happen. You are a well-rounded, attractive person with a great lifestyle.
Very impressed with how your channel has grown and hope you are saving money for an orange 2023 Hybrid JLU. Proud to continue supporting your Patreon page, hope to see you at EJS!
It’s so great to watch these videos, it is March 18 2020 and I am living in a state of fear and panic as I am on lock down because of the Coronavirus. The pandemic in our world. This is a great release and dream to do what you are doing
Loving your videos Chris! They have become a Saturday morning ritual with my coffee. Watching your adventures is so relaxing and inspiring. I admire what you are doing. There are a lot of people out there that don't have the same opportunity. Enjoy every moment....with or without someone!
Another great video adventure!
I like being able to keep my eye on my Jeep as well from my hotel room. I even go so far as to ask the employee behind the counter about break-ins or other complaints regarding the parking lot. You can get good info if you ask nicely.
It’s my home on wheels, so yes I do worry!
Another great video!
When staying at any motel, I try to park in the front lot if possible, as near to the front entrance as possible. If parking in the rear or side, under bright lights if possible. By the way, IDGAXJ, I enjoy your videos also!
@IDGAXJ Yay! My other fav overlanding Jeep channel, but with a XJ! ❤️
Chris.
I look forward to watching your show every week. Great stuff, well done. Keep up the great work.
I've now watched probably 90% of your video's and one out of many things I've noticed is that lucky for you that they invented sliced bread.
Especially beautiful! Thanks for sharing so many individual spots!
The desert winds a blowin’ , solitude, and odd nature to be seen. That was a rough road ! Better to be seeing it now than when it’s 120 degrees this summer ! Thanks for 2 videos this week. 😎
I’ve delivered explosives to that Red Cloud mine. There’s a section of that road that made me think of the movie The Hills Have Eyes. I ended up freaking myself out. 😂.
Another great video Chris. Thanks for sharing.
Omg what cool landscapes! You know you are not alone! We are all here living vicariously through you! Thanks for another episode of beauty...
Beautiful blooms this past couple videos. Really want to make it out there in the spring...someday. Thanks for sharing your travels with use Chris!
All the Brittlebush in bloom! Our bloom cycle is just beginning.
Chris, you are the mighty mylar Slayer... Don't let that Sam Eliot dude ruffle your feathers. Cool video 👍. Safe travels
Good to see you have a good meal!!!!
Phew! At 15:45 I thought you were going over on your right side - again.
Absolutely! My heart sank. I actually let a vulgar word fly. I'm surprised he didn't say something. In case you haven't seen all of his videos he turns onto his right side into a watery ditch in Nova Scotia or a more northern Canadian coastal area. It shook him up (mentally).
@@williambranham6249 Yes, I saw that on one of his earlier videos.
Hahaha
Hey guys. Please don't judge. I think all of us have probably taken a bad line at some time. It takes courage to expose yourself on social media these days. It had me on the edge of my seat anyway. No Hollywood there. True life man.
John Sousa
Agreed. And at least he showed us the clip. He could have just cut it out, but instead showed us that things do happen.
Keyboard warriors watching someone else living their dream while they sit and bitch about it 😂
Awesome trail great video I have people asking me all the time if I do those ram commercials I’ve been told sound just like Sam lol when you dipped down in that hole I cringed but all was good safe travels as always be safe
I hope you carry a snakebite kit with you the way you poke around those holes in the desert. Take care!
Another great adventure. Really enjoying your travels.
Another great video, Chris. Thanks for the food tip for Texas Roadhouse. My wife and I are currently in Las Vegas for a holiday from the U.K. and with so many restaurants to choose from it’s good to get a nod from a local who knows a good one. 👍
You do a nice job giving us great camera angles. It adds to your walking that's for sure. I'm using videos like this to plan my own solo trip so thank you for posting this video.
Great pics of your travels. Love that type of country; great sagora cactus, water, caves, etc. Yeah, that was a little scary when the jeep tilted to the right a lot!
Hey Chris! First...I love your videos. Next time you are in the Phoenix area, specifically the east side of Maricopa County, try out Black Rock Coffee - excellent coffee and way better than Starbucks.
If you're looking for more really pretty countryside, go north from Bouse, AZ, then to Havasu (make sure to take Planet Ranch river crossing, it should be dry the river goes under ground in that area). Another great video!
As an outdoorsman and traveler I see many more mylar balloons than plastic shopping bags or soda straws, especially downwind of metro areas. But no one wants to ruin a birthday because of no mylar balloons! Thanks for retrieving someone else's inconsiderate balloon release.
As always, appreciate you picking up the trash and taking care of those coals.
Another great adventure! It's great to see your video especially after spending shitty week at my work.
Happy jeep life to you guys!!!
Chris, I'd consider carrying a mace - pepper spray gun. They spray @ 15 feet. Plus a Crockadile Dundee knife. A high powered telescopic would be nice, little overkill in most situations though. Happy Trails, I always think is the best defense. Don't be a tender foot. Get some advice from Survivorman, Bear Grilis or Steve on How to hunt channel. HAPPY TRAILS
That shot at 14:00 of the sunset was beautiful! Makes me miss the AZ sunsets
I bless you with joy, peace, love and abundance in your life. I bless your YT Channel and all that follow you.
Great trails, beautiful country! Can’t wait to see where the trails lead you. Just starting to get a bit nicer here in Mn, can’t wait to get out and have some great adventures and get back to camping myself.
Chris, crapped my paints at 15:47! Besides that it was an amazing episode...as usual. Thanks for sharing!
So glad you are back off-roading in the Southwest. Happy trails :|
Oh man I gotta watch this tomorrow morning. But thanks Chris for hanging in your jeep to publish this video. ( saw ya on Instagram)
Great videos I love the approach and departure shots
Beautiful desert scenery!
I like being by myself not matter what I do, hiking, fishing, canoeing or eating. Great vid plan on taking few 2-3 day trips here in Maine for fishing and hiking. Thanks really enjoy your vid having coffee in the morning.
That best western looks nice. 🇨🇦
Chris, you need a nice Beagle. They will keep you warm and warn you of danger. Easy to train smart dogs. Good riders. Friendly & women love dogs also. Get you a can of Corrosion-X. But I tell you, you say the Jeep has 155K miles, it sounds better than it did in Labrador. Good luck man !
"Donkeys or Tuscan Raiders." Bwaahaaahaaaaaaaa!!!!! Very nice. :-)
Another awesome video Chris, thanks for posting 😘🇺🇸
How is that solar panel working out... you haven't mentioned it at all or have I missed it? Oh yeah...and glad the Jeep didn't roll over!!! Keep on trukin'.
Great video on that beautiful trail. I'm a big desert fan. Wish I was young again, most of my adventures are now on UA-cam videos. Thanks for a great one.
Awesome video as usual Chris. My wife and I are Sedona AZ bound in our JLU excited to get out do some desert exploration ourselves. We are headed back through NM, TX, LA, MS, AL, TN, VA and back to WV. Thanks for the inspiration 😁👍
Another good video at that one spot I thought you were going to lose it again but you never👍👍😀

Thank you Chris for another meaningful video...

Safe travels..🇺🇸👏👍🙏

High quality content as usual. Excellent channel.
around 15:47 you didn't video you changing your shorts? At 21:39 the river, again you need your kayak and fishing pole, fresh fish for dinner. That steaks made me hungry. Thanks for another great episode.
Awesome trip - beautiful!
Great start to 2020... Always excited to see your new video as i sit down with my cup of coffee
Thank you Chris for another awesome video !
Already hit the thumbs up before even. Seen the video lol
MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU SEE PICTURES OF THE COLORADO RIVER IT'S MUDDY / SILTY LOOKING. THE SECTION YOU VIEWED WAS BEAUTIFUL & LOOKED LIKE YOU COULD SEE THE BOTTOM & GREENISH IN COLOR. ! I'M SOOOOOOOO GLAD YOU DIDN'T TIP OVER IN THAT ONE SECTION TOO . BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED ! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG WITH YOU ON YOUR JOURNEYS !
Greeting from Argentina!
Another place we need to explore. Thanks Chris.
As always another great video Chris.
The desert has its own unique beauty that's for sure.
Thanks for taking us along buddy. See you next week.
Every Friday night I work night shift at my job and wait for your vids. Appreciate the content brother keep it up!
Loneliness is a reality, however, it's a lot better than being in a situation where you are with someone where you're pleasing them and not following your nature, not pleasing yourself, wait for the one that is like you! ... You know! ... On thinking of it... Thinking of being lonely is the worst part of being lonely! when I was a young man My mother used to tell me you always have yourself! after 25 or so years of accommodating others and considering what has happened to my goals that were dropped along the way, I understand what exactly she meant! I guess each of us has to find those answers for himself or herself! I get caught up in the "what do you want to do ", scenario instead of 'what I want, and do you want to join me'. I usually follow for the happiness of the other person when "for the good of all concerned includes oneself too! I don't think my previous philosophy has been a good personal philosophy... and eventually, it leads to a self traping reality... harder and harder to change! Chris, you are a very wise man in my opinion... keep listening to your own wisdom!
New Texas RoadHouse to open soon in El Cajon, Ca...........Can't wait!
Some of the best creator editing and storytelling on utube! Are those great shots from a Panasonic G5 Lumix?
Hey Chris .You're a true explorer. I'm in a relationship. Many times I have gone out on my own to explore a new destination. Sometimes you can't find friends or your partner to come. At times its lonely and other times you find true inner peace exploring these beautiful places on this planet on your own.
Chris,
You gotta do a montage of your morning bed head!!! LoL
I get so much out of these videos Chris. It is hard though to realize that I can’t get out there myself for a couple more months. This is definitely the next best thing! OIIIIIIIO
Thanks for sharing, Chris. Just keep living in the moment and enjoying what you’re doing (whatever that may be) and she’ll find you. We enjoy following your adventures but you don’t always have to be in the middle of nowhere. Maybe plan on stopping at some festivals, concerts, etc. this summer. You could even go to a bi-monthly episode posting so you don’t feel so pressured to keep moving to get content.
What a treat two episodes in one week:D Thanks heaps Chris
Vik Cebergs #greatsouthernoverland A real especiál for sure
Really liked this video, a lot more talking points. Keep it up Chris!!
Hi Chris, love your videos. Where did you get that double sandwich iron? Please share with us. Thanks
"Sam Elliott" i get it Chris....awesome job, thanks for sharing.
I went out there with a buddy from Yuma and he said to be careful around those caves and crevices...? Favorite hangout for Rattle Snakes. I didn't believe him so he threw a few rocks in the caves and there was a lot of Rattling going on. Yet i see Chris just sticking his head and arms in those places, climbing cliffs grabbing where he can't see... Maybe it was a different time of the year, lol.
Thanks Chris, have a great week!
Recently I've noticed a uptick in geological observations during your hikes (ie: lava flows, waterfall basins, etc..). Perhaps its just my perception, but I really enjoy the little educational nuggets.
I’m up late tonight and saw your video had uploaded. My wife and I always watch them together and I normally would wait till we are both ready to watch. Tonight I took a peek at the beginning and she woke up and accused me of cheating on her so I have to turn it off for now and we will watch it in its entirety tomorrow. 😄
Too funny , I also saw Chris had posted video before I went to bed. My wife would have had the same reaction. You might also like Grizzly N Bear, Dirt Sunrise , and Bound for Nowhere , ( we need a life ) .
Great job
Added that trail to my list. Thank you Chis.
I just opened up another youtube channel. The first thing I did was add you. Love your videos. i've seen all of them! Keep up the great work, Chris.
very cool video keep it up god bless
Great video. Thanks. I researched the Red Cloud Mine that you passed by. It has an amazing history and the source of some beautiful crystal minerals. A visit would be interesting if possible.
Roadhouse honey butter! My fav steakhouse as well.
I'm no expert of desert survival but... shouldn't you have like.. a rattlesnake stick or something? :P
Thanks Chris.
Legend.
Texas Roadhouse in Royersford Pennsylvania is my favorite local restaurant. Only a half mile away, serves delicious steaks and sides
Definitely Tuscan Raiders!
I grew up not too far from that area between Yuma and highway 10, as a kid.
Lots to do out there, but always beware the wild animals out there (e.g. rattlers!).
You’ve got the perfect rig to keep from catching the coronavirus!
