    My daughter has moderate hearing loss and uses hearing aids. Technology has come so far! My daughter is now married, the mother of a beautiful baby, and finishing her MBA. God has been good to us.

      That is wonderful to hear! I am finishing my BA soon and also have a moderate hearing loss. My boyfriend of almost five years is always sweet and caring about handling my hearing loss. God is good! God bless you and your family! 😊🙏

    Thank you for advocating for early intervention! Too often parents are scared of what they might find out so they make excuses and avoid getting their children checked out for things. Hopefully this video will show other moms how important it is to pick up on cues and be safe rather than sorry.

    I'm glad you got Allie's hearing tested. I found out at the age of 41 I had 80% hearing loss in my left ear from birth. Thankfully I now have a hearing aide! (I remember being told repeatedly as a child not to mumble. I was often asking people to repeat things as well. My hearing was never tested though. I obviously learnt to lip read and make up for it in other ways. When working as a teacher I always made children look at me when speaking, making it a point that it is good manners.)

    My other half has hearing loss and has done since he was a child. His is due to tinnitus and he uses a combination of hearing and lip reading, he says he has done this since a child and the lip reading came naturally with little effort. He says he feels that it’s actually better he began losing his hearing as a child instead of an adult as he adapted easily. It’s balanced out and he hasn’t had deterioration which is a good thing. The current need for masks is causing a few issues but he’s managing bless him x

    Please evaluate her for Auditory Processing Disorder. Audio grams are mostly normal, but problem is hearing clearly amongst background noise.

    • @GR-bo5zt
      @GR-bo5zt 3 роки тому +1

      Yes! My son has near perfect hearing, but the auditory processing can be a factor (this is when they can’t separate the various sound-stimulations occurring simultaneously).
      An example would be picking out a conversation in a noisy restaurant.

    I'm sure you already know but make sure when she's listening with earphones the volume isn't turned up too loud. Even as an adult if I have distractions around when listening to something I turn my volume up louder to better tune out whatever is going on around me. I know it can create hearing loss in adults and I'm sure younger children as well. Good luck and God bless🐢🐢🐢cara

    I have hearing loss in my right ear and I also have auditory processing disorder. Both make it hard to hear. I've done my best to try and hide the fact that I was struggling with hearing and understanding what was being said. It is hard to look at a person's face and see their mouth moving, but not hearing what they are saying. I used to rely on reading their lips to kind of get what they are saying, but now with the masks I feel like there is a greater communication barrier as it is harder to hear and I can't read their lips. I might be looking at getting a hearing aid just to see if that helps me hear them and be able to process what they are saying quicker instead of focusing on them talking and trying to hear than process what they said to respond appropriately. If I'm not facing someone or not in the same room, there is a big chance I will not hear you at all. I will hear sound, but I won't hear it well enough to translate it as someone speaking to me. I have to either be looking at them or in the same room in order to understand or acknowledge they spoke to me. It's hard, but I'm thankful I know now and be able to explain to others that it's not just me ignoring them on purpose; I just have 2 strikes against me in way of being able to properly hear them. So glad you are getting a handle on Allie's hearing early. I just played it off as a kid because I was scared of doctors so I never told my parents until this year. It all made sense to them once I told them that I was not being a "bratty" child. Lol!

    You were so smart to take Ali in for a hearing test. We'r have 2 deaf kids that have the cochlear implant and our son was finally diagnosed at 3 1/2 years and our daughter was confirmed at 6 weeks and there is a BIG difference in their speech today! You can tell in our son's speech that he is deaf but our daughter has perfect speech (I think so anyway) love watching you!! Thanks!

    I am deaf in one ear and have moderate hearing loss in another. My mother had me learn to speak and learn to sign language. It helps me a lot. I wore hearing aids throughout my childhood. I lost them. Now try to get new one is very pricey even insurance don’t cover them. At least she has slightly loss. I have 4 profoundly deaf kids and 1 hard of hearing. One of my child is hearing but she have auditory process disorder. We use ASL as a primary language!

    I’m glad Allie had a good report! Just for future reference, there is also a massive deaf community that has their own language, culture, and history that someone could choose to be apart of and may find it easier to relate to if they have “hearing loss.” I’d definitely look up things other than hearing aids or cochlears just to have a well rounded decision. In the end what you choose is your choice as mama if you were to find yourself needing to make that decision.

    I wear hearing aids but for me I have Duane symptoms it is a rare disorder that involved limited eye movement but my Duane symptoms is in the right eye what I had learned is with people who had Duane symptoms it effects their hearing I had 20% of hearing lost in both of my ears due to the Duane symptoms and I been wearing hearing aids from when I was six or seven years old to now 38 years old. I hear a lot better wearing my hearing aids.

    Hi! I know you're going to keep checking on her and you have experience with your sister. But from my experience if something tells you that she have some kind of trouble... check for some answers. I don't want to scare you, we are all different. My long short story, I woke up when I was 15 and I had lost 100% of my left hearing. 9 years later at a routine check my right side was almost exactly how Ali's left in the audiogram (the left is the one with the X). They told is normal and I say ok is normal for who? Because I only have 1 side and has always been on the top. She says well ask your doctor but for me is ok. It was not ok! A was hearing aid candidate a few months later. And now 5 years later than that (30 years old) I only have left about 20 % or less of the only side I can hear and keep going down. Still have no diagnosis.
    Just keep an eye and double check if you feel something is not ok 😉 as you already did! Hugs! You have 3 lovely girls 😍

      That’s a common accent word for some regions. The same as how people from some areas have the g sound as a k .. like everythink instead of everything .. it’s our differences that make us all so perfect. If we all came from the same place and said things the same way life would be so boring.
