Wuthering Heights never hit in the US, but at the time I was an avid reader of Billboard Magazine's "Hits of the World" column. Usually if something hit big in Europe it would hit in the States about six months later. I bought "The Kick Inside" with this in mind. Of course the first song I played was Wuthering Heights. Couldn't agree more. Music is one of the great arts (Kate's certainly is) and cars should always please the eye in an artistic way. Today's music and cars, they're anodyne, sterile and without art.
I read recently that something like 85% of all artists signed to record labels were privately educated, but I really miss this type of artist. She reminds me a bit of Sade. They're from ordinary places in suburbia, but they have imagination and talent, and that's all they're interested in - no bullshit. They're there because they are good at what they do, not because they have the connections or speak the right way. The music industry has really suffered because of the way it is structured now.
One of the best female artists of the 80s. When I first saw her in the late 70s, I was only 8 and thought wow. She was strange odd weird and sexy(my impression on seeing her when I was 8 when she did Wuthering Heights video) and she could sing and dance well.

Imagine being someone that somebody like Kate bush admires…
Inspired and insightful observation.
Ah, aspirations! It's probably closer than you think...
@@tomburke9955 Thanks mate !
Intelligent, beautiful, talented, genius.
@ 4:16 Kate's expression is priceless. It so says 'Oh here we go again....'
Lol! I love her. She's a barking mad genius!
Kate is truly what passionate dreams are made of.. Come to life.
Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Brazil.
One of the best female artists of the 80s. When I first saw her in the late 70s, I was only 8 and thought wow. She was strange odd weird and sexy(my impression on seeing her when I was 8 when she did Wuthering Heights video) and she could sing and dance well.
So 70's + 80's then!
i dont get all the hate for victorria wood. she was an incredible comedian and dearly loved by millions.
Two national treasures on the same show, Aspel had a very good day here
She was rude here
Me neither, absolute comedy genius, and a brilliant musician too.
@@thischarminglovehound2376 nope, she was funny! As for the "barking mad" stuff, I daresay her album sales rather made up for it. Perhaps you weren't around back then to know she took a lot of stick for the high pitched voice and amateur dramatics dance/mime. I loved it myself but the average person who was buying Showaddywaddy 45's found it odd.
Why am i here? Because i love to hear Kate's accent and her beautiful voice. It May be stupid, but i am not from UK and i never hear that every Day :(
I’m so happy how much we’ve evolved as a society. Today those cringey questions about sex appeal are almost gone from interviews. Today she’d probably walk away at the question, it’s so embarrasing. There’s a long way to go still but watching this, it’s clear we’ve also come a long way.
OMG just reviewed this again and does seem like Victoria does indeed take a pop at our Kate. How dare she!! Lots of stupid comments during this show but I think Kate Bush although looks uncomfortable at times (and who can blame her) handles them with her usual dignity and intelligence. She is so wonderful and such a nice person.
She is so talented, intelligent and funny, as well.
Aspel: ....."......And in a few moments we'll have Lenny Henry." Then the video stopped.
There is a God.
We were promised a performance later in the show, though!
Been listening to her since the 80s. I have it playing in the back ground... with Beatles songs between the both..for years now... while I work on my artwork..
Great clip, and there's that little strobe thing that used to pop up in the right hand corner at the end of stuff. I'd forgotten about it. I want to go home now (to the old century 😪).
