The infastructure will live on for decades more even after a full rebuild. The longer the solar panels are being used the longer they offset their emmisions.
Solar panels can in theory have a good life of up to and even beyond 50 to 75 years.
At 800 mwh this thing produces it will still produce 640 or more mega watts after 20 plus years.

Very nice. But why the subsurface concrete foundation? Seems like overkill.

Correct - maybe they are gonna build some mild version of skyscraper on it? To be fully powered by some of the solar? And provide for a protective lookout?
Qatar is small but very international and active, like with Qipco, all sorts of private or public use not too far away from this build could be thought of. By more than just a group of professional guards. If lets say 60 or 100 soldier families would life in such a building risks for the solar fields could be lowered?

It would keep the panels from shifting as quickly over time as well as provide a structurally safe area for repair vehicles and equipment. The structure also looks to be designed to withstand any winds trying to lift the panels out of the ground as well. That would be my presumption based on previous construction experience and knowledge of windstorms requiring strong footings for certain structures in that area.

@@AstroInfinitum I think you're talking about the post holes. Those make sense to me. (Still seems like overkill, but the right amount of overkill.)
I meant the excavated rectangular area with the steel reinforced concrete. I didn't see a finished structure of that size. I'm surprised any solar PEV farm-related structure would need such a foundation.
