- DENALI recently released a new line of 2.0 product. Along with that release came brand new modifications of lights including improved DENALI D4's, DR1's, DM's and D2's. On top of all of this came a brand new offering called the DENALI CAnsmart. The CANsmart is a plug and play system that gives users the ability to control all the DENALI Electronics right from the handlebars of their motorcycle.
In this video, Twisted Throttle is going to break down the functionality of the DENALI CANsmart, as well as walk through an installation of the product on our BMW R1200GS.

The statement to just buy lights and not kits does not apply to brake lights. The controller only has an adapter for a single brake light. If you want two brake lights you have to buy a Y-splitter separately. It's only US$7 but only one shop in the world had one remaining splitter in stock (Revzilla) and it cost an extra US$40 to ship internationally.

Really good video. Thank you. I have a GSA LC Rallye, so I have the tyre pressure system. As I understand your comment, the tyre pressure module ‘piggy-backs’ onto the cansmart connector.
Is there a pre-made cable to go from the cansmart to an SAE connector? I want to also run a connection to my trunk for a USB(s) charging port.
Does this possibly work for the Rebel 1100 as well (same powertrain?) ?
Didn't see you connecting to the rear/brake lights. I can't find mine on my 2018 GSA Rallye
Hey Aditya,
You don't need to tap into anything, simply plug the auxiliary brake light into the brake light port. Take a look at these install instructions, there are a few photos which may help you get to the right spot.

Hello, in case of BMW GS1250 have alarm, the denali must be connected to Alarm or Tyre Pressure system ? thanks in advance

Hi is compatible with GS equipped with BMW Connectivity and TFT Display? In the video I've seen that you use Controller to set the intensity of the light, but with the TFT the Controller is to switch the different page or menù. Thanks
Hi Matteo,
It is not controlled through your display, but rather by button sequences on the handlebars. The main settings for the device will be controlled through your computer (where you select your preferences).
bmw Philippines disapproved my warranty claim when the bike's (r1200gs) general module failed pointing to the cansmart as the cause of the failure. your thoughts please. thanks.
you mentioned “strobe on horn” functionality but can you configure lights to strobe/modulate all the time?
No, only when horn is activated.
Kinda like Clearwater lights.

You can still run all those products with the standard wiring harnesses. Which bike do you have?

Hi,
I’ve connected the Cansmart which has a green flashing light with ignition off and a solid green light when ignition is on. Cannot get B6 Brake lights to work on Cansmart but work with ‘direct’ power.
Had Cansmart changed by dealer, still not working.
Denali helpline totally useless as they don’t reply.
Wishing I’ve never heard of Denali.

Firstly I thought it was plug and play? No I have not connected to the software as I only want the basic functions for the plug and play facilities,
Secondly, I was supplied by my dealer , Chainspeed Ltd UK (who told me Twisted are the sole importer into the UK) with another replacement Cansmart. BOTH Cansmart came up with a fault. The exact same fault.
After investigation it was proved at my expense that the Pigtail on both Cansmarts for the brake light was faulty in exactly the same place, the white end of the pigtail. Open circuit.
Denali installers have told me that this has been an issue in the past who have passed this fault problem to yourself when identified and I have the installers details.
Denali have been totally, 100% non existent in replies to assistance as well as the same info I sent to Twisted when I sent 3 requests for assistance. Nothing heard . The ONLY reply for help has been from Revzilla, who said contact Denali, so no constructive help there. But at least it was a reply.
I have spent a lot of money on Denali parts and I simply cannot recommend the service or parts in any way. I even had to pay for returning faulty parts.

The design team is waiting to get a test bike in. Not sure on a time frame for that yet, but it is on their radar! We will update our online products once compatibility is confirmed!

I have 2 sets of lights Denali D4's and Denali DR1's which one do I run on the longer CANsmart cable as I see they are different amperages?
You can use the splitter to run both sets on the high power output channels. Just keep in mind you may need to dim the brightest setting just a bit so it doesn't shut the lights off. Or, you can use the simple circuit override to run separate lights on all 4 leads.
@@twistedthrottle at the moment Denali tech support told me to run the D4's on the higher amp leads and the DR1's on the lower. Happy to report that both sets working fine at their max output.
