Brilliant idea. I have a habit of putting my bradawl down and forgetting when I put it. So a few spares would definitely be handy. I have a few old screwdrivers that are beyond repair so I will be using this idea next weekend. Thanks for posting Phil.
Cheers your welcome 👍🏻
Great video Phill. I never thought of making one myself. Another one on the list to do. Cheers.
Cheers Ross!
Hi Phill, What a great idea, I have 3 or 4 Phillips screwdrivers that the ends have worn , next time i'm in the workshop i'm going to make one they are a very handy tool for marking wood for drilling and to indent the wood for a screw.
Brilliant use of a worn out screwdriver, great video Take care
Cheers Shaun yea I've been meaning to make one for a video for a while now. They are a bit like tape measures...you need more than one of them because they seem to go missing!
Great tip Phill ( pun intended ), I've done this a couple of times myself and they are a useful tool to have to hand and it's a good feeling to save a tool that appears to have no use. It's worth pointing out the importance of keeping the blade from over-heating too much by dipping it in water regularly and not being too aggressive with the grind, as this will soften the steel. The blade can also be shaped in a long square or triangular pyramid shape which is also useful as it can act like a reamer in opening up smaller holes.
Great tip 😆 good one! Good points Andy I might make one of the square types in future. It might not seem like it on the video but I did take my time to grind it. I edited most of the grinding out. But yea a pot of water for dipping it to keep it cool is advisable.
Great video thanks for sharing I will definitely make this Cheers
Have fun!
Phil, A nice reuse of a rubbish screwdriver. Thanks for posting.
Cheers Tony 👍🏻
That's not a bradawl. A bradawl has a bladed tip like a sharpened screwdriver. No offense meant, it's just that the old term is often misconstrued
