Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before. They are Su-metal (lead vocalist) and Moametal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in). The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues. Su and Moa have continued as a duo since then, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers) dancing in the third spot (it has been the same one, Momoko, since 2020 - they are teasing the reveal of a new third member in April - it may well be her). BABYMETAL started in 2010 as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin. As members of that group they would sing songs and dance, the sub-units (like after school clubs) would also have their own themed songs (tennis, cooking, science etc). BABYMETAL were the heavy music club and they were formed around Su-metal's extraordinary vocal talents and stage presence. I think you saw here that she is an exceptional vocalist - you haven't seen her on stage controlling a crowd of thousands yet. In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from Sakura Gakuin (having the school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her vehicle as she furthered her career as a vocalist and should separate from the Idol group to go with her as an independent band in their own right. BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They have about 60 songs now, every one of them is different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song try another, the chances are you'll love it. Their official videos are all very good, but live BABYMETAL is always the best choice for all the reasons you said about studio vocals being over-processed and compressed (just avoid the Glastonbury videos, the BBC live stream they are taken from made a complete pig's ear of the audio). I would suggest the Legend 1997 live 'Headbanger' from either Gans Tomas or abr metal channels for another reaction (Legend 1997 was their concert in December 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday) or 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere 2014 in the UK - their first major event outside of Japan and, as virtual unknowns, facing 50-60,000 potentially hostile UK metalheads. This was the last song of their 25 minute set - watch to the end to see what the crowd thought of them after just 5 songs.
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 I'm glad to see new reactors getting into BM songs, you're arriving to a special era with more mature sound and a BM side we've never seen before. I'm gonna leave another suggestion in my next comment so you can check it out early BM era songs and clips safe to react but meanwhile don't worry about pausing a lot or putting some filters in BM new singles, so far no one is reporting copyright blocked issues. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25 *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 23. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. After that year you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them sing or have mic, they only dance, but that may change this year since they announced a new official member is coming. Monochrome is the 2nd single released from this new upcoming album called "The Other One" is gonna be released next March 24, you can watch the official lyrics video to know what is about. Here's some official info: _From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors._ Original version is just beautiful like this one, you're gonna see it next. We're waiting for the live proshot version at Makuhari Messe 2023 performed at the end of January, one of the highlights in the live concerts was this beautiful song, SuMetal made everyone raise their phones to illuminate this dark world. They already have softer version and piano version of certain songs before like "Akatsuki Unfinished Version" and The One - Stairway To Living Legend, i suggest you those after hearing the original version. Hope to see you next time with more BM songs. 🦊🤘🌈
We know Amuse is very hard to deal with copyright blocked issues, fortunately we got a way to go around with "Babymetal Reactor Resource" YT place, you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. You'll find some watermarked clips in the channel also with the description and where to get the non-logo version. If you want you can watch the original clean version and pause whenever you like to say your comment and after that you can put a logo provided in the same place so you can enjoy a clean version from the beginning. You can also put some heavy opacity and translucent effect to avoid those issues if necessary. However there are some safe clips to react like those from Legend 1997 or some of Budokan 2014 or previous to this year and Festivals that is out of reach from Amuse hands. By all means AVOID live compilations at least for first time watching, not saying all of them are bad but chances are you'll end up facing the bad ones bad edited, very confusing, switching costumes and distracting you from the performance and meaning of the song. Also avoid Glastonbury Festival performance, the sound is bad and the crowd isn't the usual fans. Here's some examples of safe to react live performances: - "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend 1997 (2013, you can find this a "Gans Tomas" channel or "abr metal") or live at Legend I (2012). - "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, this one normally is safe to react without any filters. ("Kawaii Metal" channel got this) - "Catch Me If You Can", you got live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles version at GuilhermeCait channel or live at MetroRock 2015 in Babymetal Reactor Resource channel under the title "CMIYC". - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (lately hasn't been so safe, so careful) - "Karate" live at Download Festival 2016 ("kitsune6001" channel got this one) - Distortion, live at Download Festival 2018 or Rock Am Ring 2018, official channel got the Download version and is safe to react. If you follow this step by step you won't have blocked issues the majority of times, but sometimes there has been issues with certain songs so if you got those try to put opacity, blur or translucent effect, that might help a little bit. Thanks for sharing your BabyMetal reactions and reading this humble recommendation. 🦊🤘
Great reaction, and welcome to a new music experience! There is much to see and hear (especially live versions)...looking forward to you checking out more (after the lyric video of Monochrome!).
Nice first reaction. You're going to find the main singer, Su-Metal, has that ability of causing people to get a bit emotional. She is VERY skilled at portraying emotions through her singing. So much so, that she has stated that she doesn't really thing the lyrics are as important as how you FEEL. She wants us, the audience to be able to feel the song. It is something she has worked very hard at mastering. Truly hope you do react to more Babymetal. I think you're going to enjoy your trip down what we call the foxhole. They are a lot of fun to watch, especially live as that is where they shine brightest. They bring a whole new level of crowd control which you can witness if you would ever like to react to their song Road of Resistance Live in Japan official along with many other songs of theirs!
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (who left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were only 10 when the group began. All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life the girls would learn and train to be idols and graduate at age 15 to move onto whatever entertainment path they chose. Kei Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues) and Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). Suggest reacting to BabyMetal LIVE as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Suggest reacting to these for a start. Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan Megitsune LIVE Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro Good luck and hope to see you again.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Babymetal and thank you for the reaction! At 03:38 that’s called a “swell” and Su did it perfectly ❤ She has a beautiful voice and is now, at 25 yo able to express so much emotions with her voice, it is unbelievable. 🤘🔥🦊
The band has the most emotional connection with its fans in the world.
Babymetal is one of the biggest audiovisual show in the world
Live is when you really realize the level of artistic quality
