Hi Nicola. One never knows how or why one would randomly click on a UA-camr channel. In your case out of all the ones that just popped up on my screen because I grew up on a dairy farm in Waihi Beach, Nth Island, New Zealand and I like viewing farms around the world so I get a lot of farming channels and one happened to show this glowing, cheerful lass tucked right at the bottom tight corner of my screen and I naturally thought she's either on drugs or she's lovin' life where ever that is and voila, their u iz! And straight away I felt ur emotional tone which almost had me in tears. Now, I get it and my condolences go out to u and ur famiy. It takes courage to bare ones loss as close as a mother as myself and my siblings share the immense grief and even today I go to pieces when I hear of a family member has passed away so unexpectedly. But I won't go on about me but I see what a strong woman as yourself find the strength to enjoy the dream shed with Dad and Co.and how happy mum is to see her dream shed was now a reality and bet she'll be comforted to know the family will have a well managed and covered operation as taking care of the stock will only reap the vision mom had for your future. But the fact I clicked on that happy lass on my screen as many other female UA-camr farmers were spread out across the screen I just felt curious as I said what made this lass so cheerful and inviting. Well it was a lovely day in the Highlands that made your channel a lot more interesting. My Uncle John who married my grandfathers sister and he lived down the road from my grandparents farm was from Aberdeen just as a coiincidence but look I'm glad I got to see and subscribe to your channel and leave for now as I raved on to much. Caio.
Well impressive shed, don’t worry about getting emotional,it’s understandable after what you’ve had to go through, mum will be looking down on you,so make her proud….
Ah god 🙏 love you luv ❤️ you really were close to your mum n iv only started watching 👀 your video s in past too months I see pain 😢in ur face when you speak on ur mum 😮am she will an is watching 👀 u up in heaven if there is one I'm not into church or mass r that do she be pure proud you young lady love your video n farmin kind regards ado from South Ireland 🇮🇪
I would defo up the molasses, the strong ewes will learn to keep foraging for all the cake n the rest will get nothing, big fan of making sure they get the cake they need evenly but won’t happen in that system without the feeding space, seems like lots of problems with the indoor lambing this season but I’m sure you watch what I watch on here and you’ll be aware. Love watching you.
Impressive Shed really is and credited to you the ewes look in big felt. The one thing I would say is we laid 400 ewe inside last year on a TMR thought it was good but the only thing we found was there were ferreted the Nut out off the silage and just leaving the silage if that makes sense we have gone onto a Meal this time and finding it a lot better Hope this helps
Lovely video again, always look forward to your videos. Never ever change who you are, never stop caring and never stop being emotional it just shows how much you loved your mum and memories are so very special.
Just watched the video Nicola.A grest setup. Perhaps a little water poured over the nuts in the loader bucket before adding to the mix would help to break them down. Also dividing the molasses cube in 10cm marks vertically with a black marker makes it easy to empty 100 ltres at a time. All the best to you.
Nicola - you certainly have done yourself and your mum very proud! You tugged my heart strings with your lovely emotion expressions regarding your mum- love that👍 Sending you a strong hug and smiles!!
You look to have a fantastic set up for the sheep I’m sure it will be much easier for you. Just such a shame that mums not going to be there for you take care and good luck with the lambing and keep the videos coming
It's not a bad thing to be emotional your mother is looking down on you and she's so proud of you , you doing such a super job and she'd turned out great Nichola..👏👏👌👍
You have done a great job with getting the shed sheepshape..😂 your mum would be proud of you.❤ Does the mixer get rid of the pellets uniformly throughout the discharge, or do they tend to come out more towards the end of the batch?
Great job. Some set up. Will the ewes not pick out the nuts? A friend of mine mixes the silage the night before and the nuts break down to stop them picking out the nuts. Ur mum is watching over it all and is smiling down. Chin up and stay strong 🫂 ur doing great
Seems to me, the first to feed will indeed sort through and pick out the majority of the pellets, and those not first to the trough will indeed get less nutrition in their portion.
Fine shed well planned out Opinion would it be handy to have something around middle of shed say small office a place for electric kettle iodine & the like
? Did you discuss adding moisture in the mixer with the nutritionist? Can easily be done with a low-flow fine spray shower-head and a stopwatch. With the added molasses you'd not want it too wet but un-drying the silage is a good idea - dry air is gonna take moisture out in the mixer.
I saw someone put the whole mixture together over night so the pellets would break down in the tmr. That was to stop the ewes picking out the good stuff. But that of course means you have your mixer loaded and you are unable to use for other animals . Your Mom would have been very very proud .
Just wondering if you might be better off feeding a munch rather than a pellet when you are a bit tight on feed space, we feed our ewes a tmr and we found that they would root trough it and pick out the pellets but when we changed to a mix of ground maize , soya bean meal, soya hulls and a bit of barley with mins ang molasses they hadn’t the same ability to pick trough it so the weaker ones that didn’t get to the feed first were fine they got the same as the ones that were more dominant. Just something to keep an eye on.
Got to call it mums shed every lamb born is hers. With the ration you can be on the low side with the good stuff at the start till they get used to it then build up more
Brilliant video again keep them up. Also lambing for the first time in my new shed so trying to work things our at the moment. Only thing with the TMR for them all is the triples aren't getting any extra maybe could feed the twins single first then put a couple bags more cake in?
Thank you and hope you’re indoor lambing goes well to. These ewes are in fairly good nick so don’t want to be over doing the triplets and cause more problems with prolapses etc, thankfully so far all okay!
Feed less but often an watch using nuts as greedy ones get to much, meal or blends better, molasses is great, rise ur water troughs as sheep rub an mess in them ,better a block so they stand up to drink
Im sure when or if nicola feels comfortable to tell us she will, until then i think we should all just support her in what she is showing in a fantastic show of videos.
Sheep look very content and healthy. Your Mum is looking down and will be very proud of a job well done.
Let the emotions flow ❤ like baking a cake lots of different ingredients. Let the baby's begin

So far no picking, the molasses in the mix helps soften the pellets making it harder to pick out.

Definitely ♥️ she’d have loved this set up
Stay calm lass, you’ll be fine

I love ❤️ your eyes
👍🙏❤
You are awsome, l like you and if I am at you I would help you alot , l like dairy and sheep alot
Hi Nicole just started watching your UA-cam videos. Just want to know what breed your dogs are please ❤
Hello, they are Australian kelpies 😊
12:59 💌Don't worry, mom sees everything.
😊
You looked like a baker making cookies. Heart wrenching but keep your chin up
Feed less but often an watch using nuts as greedy ones get to much, meal or blends better, molasses is great, rise ur water troughs as sheep rub an mess in them ,better a block so they stand up to drink
64 trebles what a horrible thought!
I rarely pass an opportunity for a pun: NO NEED to feel sheepish about expressing the emotions of losing your mom way too soon.
But distasteful all the same ! 😔
How did your Mom die? You said she was fine one day….then gone.
Bit of an insensitive question
Im sure when or if nicola feels comfortable to tell us she will, until then i think we should all just support her in what she is showing in a fantastic show of videos.
